One opinion that you have that will never waver, no matter what?..

OP posts:

@Winnading not death, but there is discrimination

Ok, you have proof that discrimination against trans people is so very much more than discrimination against women? And somehow this discrimination requires access to single sex female only spaces?

And if you know so very much about it, please do tell how we would know if we had a gender identity? And what that feels like.

Many thanks

I do agree with this (I was the OP of the 'paper abortions' post) and that is why it isn't uncomplicated. I just think that if there is a situation where there is a couple who got pregnant by accident and the woman wants to keep the baby but the man does not, it is not fair to make him be a father, either finacially or in any other way. If we accept, as we should, that women cannot have motherhood forced upon them, then we have to give men the same agency.

Look around you.

As if men need legislation to opt out of fatherhood.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/12/2023 17:00

The hill is like to die on is wanting one, just one thread not to be taken over with a trans issues debate. God it’s getting tedious now. I have my own strong opinions on the matter but the constant CONSTANT hijacking of every thread with the issue is making mn a not nice place to be. Give it a rest.

I await my flaming.

Barrys tea is better than Lyons.

Legomania · 03/12/2023 17:01

Non-standard grammar such as 'ain't' and double negatives is not an adorable local quirk but just makes the user sound uneducated.

I agree.

No flaming from me.

It's a lovely place for the already converted but it's not going to help open up the minds of the gen z women in my office, for example. They are not going to engage with this website at all because of it's reputation.

And what would help open up their minds? It doesn't matter whether they engage with this website or not. We can be polite and pleasant in putting across our views, but ultimately either you believe people can change sex just by wanting to, or you don't. GC MNers aren't going to shut up about it on the off-chance that some Gen Z women might deign to pop by and decide we're not quite such awful bigots as they'd heard!

bloodyfreezinghere · 03/12/2023 17:05

Actually no, I had no idea about this topic until I started coming to mumsnet when I was pregnant. Becoming aware of this issue, after doing the recommended of ' educating myself' did convert me. I read up on 'both sides' and it was pretty obvious who had the evidence and arguments to back up their case and who did not.

Well all you are saying here is that the gen z'ers are ideologically converted to such an extent that they refuse to read or hear the views of anyone they think they will not agree with. But how do they know they will not agree with them if they refuse to hear what they say? I went straight to the people with ' a reputation' when I was making up my mind on what I thought on this issue. They are surely exactly the people you include amongst those you listen to?

That it has to be Heinz tomato sauce and soup

colourfulchinadolls · 03/12/2023 17:05

People should be able to choose to die if they want to.

Keeping someone alive is not always better than letting them die.

Suicide is not selfish.

colourfulchinadolls · 03/12/2023 17:06

Also, organised religion is the root of the majority of evil in the world, and NO religion is a 'religion of peace'.

Notellinganyone · 03/12/2023 17:06

@Ebokebok - Oxford comma I think you’ll find.

WalkingPrimrose86 · 03/12/2023 17:07

The best way to learn how to say Shrewsbury is to ask a person from Shrewsbury, consider their opinion valuable and accept it politely and then never say it again, just in case.

When you get a box of white eggs instead of brown ones, it’s quite interesting and worthy of comment.

Bluey holds universal appeal.

Some current baby names are actually dog names, we’ve just become confused. Honey, Stone, Fuffles…. I could go on…

Any food is acceptable if you have small children. Feed them well, pop them into bed with a story and a cuddle, then eat 15 bags of Doritos.

Yep.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/12/2023 17:08

And there is my point, proved beautifully. Jeez.

there’s whole bloody boards devoted to this topic yet still it permeates every corner of MN.

Museum10660 · 03/12/2023 17:08

some other points

how can the Egyptian's have built the pyramids with basic rope, and rollers etc, even with many people, rope is still only strong to a certain weight before it breaks.

i think before modern civilisation i think there was another civilisation that existed similar to the Ancients from the stargate show and that humans are the discendents.

as for evolution, seriously, personally i dont have a clue but i dont think we evolved more like created or genetically engineered.

Yes. Here’s a campaign I can get behind. I feel tearful even thinking about it.

Billionaires should not be allowed to exist. No one should be allowed to hoard that much wealth. They should be taxed down to a maximum multi millionaire level.
