One opinion that you have that will never waver, no matter what?..

OP posts:

Yeh I think I did

That's okay. The language games are ridiculous and meant to seed confusion.

Twobigsapphires · 03/12/2023 15:59

I will cut anyone out of my life if they don’t enhance it. I will not have any relationship that brings more negativity than positivity. Life has been stress and drama free since going n/c with the in-laws 6 years ago.

Hastheslotharrivedyet · 03/12/2023 15:54

No they’re not. People are just too scared to say this

I'm not sure you know what a transman is. A transman is a biological female who 'identifies' as a man. Are you thinking of transwomen (males who 'identify' as women?)

VickyEadieofThigh · 03/12/2023 16:01

Bambooshoot · 03/12/2023 15:58

This is untrue. According to fairplaytowomen.com, who have tried to do the research “less than 0.1% of the trans community undergoes genital surgery each year supporting our conclusion that the vast majority of males who identify as women retain their penis.”

Edited now that the OP has clarified they had the sexes crossed! But I’ve left the post as I think it is an interesting statistic as to what we might be facing in women’s spaces.

Edited

You've got your sexes crossed - which probably explains why the census went as wrong as it did.

What are commonly referred to as "trans men" are biological females who believe themselves to be men. What are referred to as "trans women" are biological males who believe themselves to be women.

I prefer the terms 'trans-identifying men' and 'trans-identifying women'.

That just as men cannot turn into women/cats/horses/dogs (and vice versa) monkeys cannot turn into humans despite what evolution says

There are a lot of parallels between Brianna’s murder and that of Sophie Lancaster. Two young people murdered for simply being different. We need to look at the kind of society that creates people who would commit this kind of act. Toxic masculinity is a problem.

I think you haven't been following the Brianna Ghey case.

There were 5 people on the killers' hit list; as far as we know, one of the other 4 was gay, and no others were trans or gay. Brianna was the second one on this list that the killers decided to actually try and kill, but the first one backed out of a meeting. It seems likely, so far, that they chose these people not particularly because they were different, but because they were vulnerable.

Plus, out of the boy and the girl, it seems the girl was keener on murdering someone, and her motivation was not personal - she simply wanted to murder - and possibly to torture. Toxic macuslinity is a problem, sure, but it doesn't seem to feature here.

Just to lighten the mood, or cause absolute mayhem, my hill to die on is that Michael Buble is shit. Merry fucking Christmas.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 03/12/2023 16:02

That the patriarchy has done a massive number on women by scaremongering out of all proportion on trans issues.

I find that very patronising. It's not about 'scaremongering'. What is it that you think the patriarchy is supposedly telling us about the trans rights agenda which isn't true?

What about fish pie?

But evolution hasn't said monkeys turned into people.
We simply share a common ancestor.

I agree. All v confusing. As I say, good luck to them; we all have a right to live our best lives but the papering over the cracks needs to stop x

Dunno. It’s all confusing

Sallyh87 · 03/12/2023 16:05

My one is very personal. My dad was very nationalistic (ROI). Very supportive, in principle, of the IRA etc. I find the whole thing ridiculous, everyone should get a life, a good career and move on.

I live in the UK now and I buy a poppy every year and this has caused contention with him. How he feels about my English husband and two English children, I don’t know.

TBH, I find national pride fairly stupid, wish I had the time.

Anyway, my hill to die on is to tell him he is wrong.

He wasn’t memorable at all, I believe they only keep him because he was Paul Rudd!!

Hastheslotharrivedyet · 03/12/2023 15:57

Well whatever. You can change the outside but not the inside. I wish trans people no harm whatsoever and good luck to them but biologically they are the same as they were at birth

Yes. I know that. It's not me that was confused. 😁

Someone said trans women are men.

You said they are not.

I said yes they are. trans men were born women.

It's trans women that were born men.

Catsanfan · 03/12/2023 16:07

@Hastheslotharrivedyet don't worry, it's designed to be confusing!

Scruffington · 03/12/2023 16:07

The goggle eyed fixation fully grown adults have over the Kate and Will v Meghan and Harry nonsense would embarrass the most boy band obsessed 11 year old.

Well then let's get female rights protected and then we can move on. This is never going away until female rights to privacy dignity and safety from males is secured.

I don't think we are actually helping protect female rights by continuously posting the same points on Mumsnet. This is an echo chamber for the already converted.

There are also many members who want to have other discussions without it descending into a constant circular discussion about trans folk and women's rights.

I imagine it's putting more people off discussing it with openness and curiosity in the appropriate place - the feminism board.

That terfs are silly and trans rights are important.

What rights do they not have exactly?

I definitely agree with this. I mean, a glass of wine a couple of times a month is OK, but smoking when you're pregnant is utterly foul, and should be against the law. Not sure how they'd police it, but yeah, it's vile.

Even worse, I know a woman who smokes weed - 2 or 3 times a week, and she smoked it all through her pregnancy. I can barely look her in the eye when I see her. I dread to think what effect it's had on her baby (born 17 months ago.) There are already tell-tale signs of effects, but I won't say on here what they are.

That poor baby x

ChocBanana · 03/12/2023 16:08

That not every person in Gaza/Palestine is a terrorist, and that Israel are not innocent bystanders.

Also, that a biological woman/girl’s right to feel safe should always, always trump a biological man’s right to feel like a woman, and that nobody should be “cancelled” for expressing their opinion on such things.

And obviously vice versa, although I haven’t heard of such an issue the other way around.

(there should maybe be “third” gender toilets, so that those who feel they identify as trans have a space without being threatening to others who don’t have the choice)
