That the patriarchy has done a massive number on women by scaremongering out of all proportion on trans issues. I agree that women should have single-sex spaces, but I'm stunned at how much this issue has overtaken all others in discussion about feminism and women's rights. Even on this thread, and definitely on the feminism discussion board, there is far more anger and anxiety about trans people than there is about FGM, public spending cuts that literally endanger the lives of women, the treatment of women by the Taliban, even violence against women and the pitifully low rates of CPS charges against rapists, sex abusers and those who perpetrate violence against women. This isn't whataboutism- I think that a discussion about trans rights is important- But I don't think the obsession with it is helpful to the cause of women. Roe vs Wade was overturned whilst we were distracted by this.

Hmmm. The very definition of the word woman was changed while our attentions were elsewhere. Women's sport was handed over to men, women's rights to privacy & safety from unknown men in showers, changing rooms, hospital wards & prisons have been removed - all done to women by men without any discussion.
And as for the deeply dangerous adults who have been allowed to target children in schools, in care of the state, those with autism & numerous mental health problems, gaslighting them into believing their growing bodies are flawed but these drugs and surgery will magically fix them and transform them into the opposite sex? All this happened while women and parents were busy elsewhere.

No more.

These sad people who make it their number one priority to victimise trans people have probably never even encountered one in their lives really need to get a life. I notice they don’t seem to have the same hatred of trans men.

I don't think many posters hate transwomen (or victimise them - how are they doing that, exactly?). They just (quite rightly) state that they're not women. A transman isn't a man either, but it's pretty obvious why women are going to be more concerned about transwomen's access to women-only spaces than transmen's access to men-only spaces.

And yes, that's my hill too.

You are quite right that everyone is entitled to a different opinion.

The reason for my strong response was your use of the word scaremongering and disproportionate in the original post.

Those words don't seem particularly respectful of women who believe that women having a word define ourselves is fundamental to identifying and retaining rights independent of males.

i don’t see you calling ‘war crime’ on the Russians or Ukrainians, the Syrians, the chinese, the Burmese, the Yemen. Maybe think a little bit about why it’s only Israel you take issue with.

None of those are credible statistics. And police themselves have said there is NO EVIDENCE that Brianna was killed BECAUSE she was trans. On the contrary. One of the killers was pro trans.

This is untrue. According to fairplaytowomen.com, who have tried to do the research “less than 0.1% of the trans community undergoes genital surgery each year supporting our conclusion that the vast majority of males who identify as women retain their penis.”

Edited now that the OP has clarified they had the sexes crossed! But I’ve left the post as I think it is an interesting statistic as to what we might be facing in women’s spaces.
