One opinion that you have that will never waver, no matter what?..

I'll never vote for anyone who thinks men can be women.

eujk · 03/12/2023 15:04

All religions are inherently sexist.

It’s not bigoted to state biological sex is a fact, nor that it’s a fact that biological sex cannot be changed.

What is bigoted is thinking women’s rights are inferior to trans rights

You are wrong I believe, but this is a matter of opinion; just like the presence and correctness of the Oxford comma.

im not wrong and you don't put a comma before but either.

Dogs, especially large breeds, should not be kept as pets.

The majority of people that own dogs don't look after them properly, train them properly, or both. Lots of dogs live lives that are inadequate in some way and/or cause a nuisance to others.

Agree

that no hill is worth dying on

Nope.

Neither is there a ditch worth dying in either.

VanityDiesHard · 03/12/2023 15:06

Children should have one parent who is at home, or mostly at home, for the first five or so years of life.

To the breastfeeding is better post.....

Please give me evidence for this, as I have never seen any in real life.

Edited

Yeah not something l agree with either - my bottle fed baby slept really well, never gets ill, does really well academically etc so l wonder who came up with that theory

Ebokebok · 03/12/2023 13:29

It really isn't but you've definitely made me realise that THIS is the hill I would die on....

It’s “think”

Workworkandmoreworknow · 03/12/2023 15:06

that child maintenance should always be paid, regardless of the income or personal situation of the parent with the majority of care.

All religions are inherently sexist.

I agree, and I would also count communism as a religion in this sense.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/12/2023 13:56

Transitioning children is child abuse.

Yep.

Desecratedcoconut · 03/12/2023 15:07

That the truth and the ability to state it freely is the foundation of everything valuable in in a democracy.

I also do think that if someone is proven to have murdered, they should face the death penalty.

Lots of people have been “proven” to have murdered and been executed, and then proven to actually have not murdered. None of them were brought back to life.

I can’t speak for the U.K., but in the US, the death penalty is disproportionately inflicted on people who cannot afford an effective legal defense. People of colour, people who live in poverty and people of lower IQ.

For those reasons I am 100% never in favour of the death penalty.

That contraception is a 2 way street.

It's not the hill I would die on, but I applaud your use of the serial comma.

No comma before ‘and’ or ‘but’

Goldbar · 03/12/2023 15:11

OK, a slightly deeper one. The answer to overpopulation and climate change is greater empowerment of women. It turns out that, given readily accessible access to contraception and birth control, most women don't want to have loads of children. Most want one, two or zero. Only a few want more than that. So I don't understand the criticism of large families - they are outliers. All we need to do is support women in the choices which are right for them. Unfortunately, many countries are moving away from this, including the US and China.

theDudesmummy · 03/12/2023 15:12

A hill I would have died on in my personal life would have been changing my surname to my husband's surname. I never did but my first MIL was always extremely rude about this and to her dying day was angry with me about it.

Littlebutloud · 03/12/2023 15:12

This plus add in get rid of grammar schools (ducks for cover)

MrTiddlesTheCat · 03/12/2023 15:12

Scone is pronounced scone. Any other pronunciation is just wrong.

Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

VanityDiesHard · 03/12/2023 15:13

I've thought of another one, which may be controversial but I firmly believe it: if abortion is legal (as it should be) then paper abortion ought to be. If women can opt out of motherhood, men should be able to opt out of fatherhood. Anything else is illogical and unfair.

I was offering you sympathy because you said your heart was breaking, and that your daughter was terrified to leave the house.

Your reaction to me offering you sympathy does make me wonder how effective you might be in moving people over to your point of view…

My apologies, I am touchy about it but I took it to mean that you were offering sympathy that my daughter is trans. I am sorry. I read so many people online saying that if their child came out as trans they’d kill them, or kill themselves, that sometimes you feel surrounded by it. Thank you for the clarification x

Cornwallinverness · 03/12/2023 15:14

That as a parent you are exactly that, not your child's best friend, and discipline is not optional when they misbehave

Abortion isn't about the woman though, it's about the child. The child exists and is entitled to support from both parents.
