Crumpets - how do you take yours ?

I don't normally buy crumpets but this morning I saw some sourdough ones in the reduced section in Morrison's so I thought it would be rude not to, especially as I bought a fresh block of Lurpak yesterday. I have been known to top them with blue Stilton and potted beef but I generally just use butter. Not too much, mind, as it gets everywhere!

They must be adequately toasted too. Underdone or nuked crumpets are just no good.

Since childhood. Always butter an honey.
Recently discovered peanut butter and banana though! Makes a good breakfast.

Tho peanut butter and banana also works well on toast and is less chewy than a crumpet.
