Is it me or are Next and Tesco just ruling the clothes market these days?

Just been in my local Next and Tesco, Christmas outfits literally everywhere. Sooooo many choices of Xmas jumpers, like 20 different styles, just got woken. This never used to be the case.

Seeing as most smaller clothing jobs have either closed or been acquired by one of the giants and put online, is it me or are Tesco and Next (maybe George and Tu as well), just benefitting massively out of footfall in their shops?

One thing I have to say though; when has Next quality been pants? It's nice quality isn't it!?

Not in my experience. Poor quality and polyester rubbish last time I passed through and liked.

Next is horrible quality. Miniscule hens and seams and swathes of plastic fabric,

DD had a swimming costume from Next that faded and bobbled after 3 days on holiday. It’s no better quality that supermarket stuff.

I like to wash and wear my clothes for years so I don’t shop at either.

BUT Primark thermals are epic and last for years!

I’m another one who hasn’t ever bought clothes in a supermarket and I haven’t been in a Next in over 30 years. I have a decent clothing budget though for workhorse pieces (Toast) and I sew a lot of my own clothes.

I manage but its all a bit grim. The 90’s seem like shopping heaven now.

I have some decent Next stuff. I just do what my DM always did and inspect hems and read labels before buying.
They do great Russel and Bromley leather platform trainer dupes.

Have a few oversized sweatshirts from Tu at Sainsbury’s that have worn well. Also some fab linen shirts from Nutmeg at Morrisons no less. About £13!!! Get so many compliments on them too.
