What have you actually bought on Black Friday?

I've found the barrage of emails and ads quite overwhelming so haven't looked for anything until today.... when I bought:

Sunday Riley moisturiser (20% off at Liberty - used my beauty drop money)
An Aura digital photo frame for my parents for Christmas (£30 off)
An Emma Bridgwater calendar for 2024 (10% off)

All things I was going to buy at some point anyway. I don't think I'll look again now as it's too easy to spend money!

Oh, god. I've already got a problem with night-time spending: I get terrible brain fog, am not very rational at all, and I don't see it coming. Worse, I don't always remember buying the stuff 😬

On top of the things I would probably have bought at some point, I've got receipts for a Toni & Guy hair waver thing I might use once, a whole slew of air fryer accessories, hundreds of pounds worth of hobby stuff (I rarely do these hobbies) and assorted plastic containers.

I put myself on a total clothes ban after going completely off the rails a few months ago, but am still thinking I should get a few more things while the prices are good!

I get overcome with ... well, I think of it as FOMO but it feels a lot like greed. That's exactly what sale advertising hooks into. It's working a little too well on me.

A load of clothes for DD in the next size up. Some replacement clothes for my ancient wardrobe! Some photo canvases and Christmas cards.

A handmade item at full price from a small business. Nothing from any big or small brands offering discounts. I'm trying to be more mindful with my spending and there's not much I really need.

Given most discounted prices were the prices a month or two ago - nothing. I track stuff I want, and wait. Never buy expensive stuff on the hoof. Black Friday is generally a marketing con, end of Jan tends to work out cheapest.

Just a pair of trainers from Nike website, had an extra 25% off sale items. Seemed silly to not take advantage 😊. They were originally £145 got them for £55, bargain!

New bedroom furniture for dd2 as her and dd1 (now at uni) are swapping rooms over the Christmas holidays and a toy octopus for my dog.

A bracelet from Pandora that was on my daughter’s Christmas list.

I would have bought it anyway, but noticed it was on their Black Friday sale and so bought it today.

She also wants some Crocs and I’ve just seen they’re in the Black Friday sale too, so will order them too when I can be arsed to get up and get my bank card.

Fabulous new bathroom, been waiting for it for ever

Airfryer - 50% off. Knew I was going to get my Dad one for Christmas (we love practical gifts!) so thought I’d wait and see if the one I was looking at was reduced this weekend and yep - glad I waited!

A shopping trolley for me (cos I just can't help being this cool 😆) and Xmas presents for ds.

The card is saved to my phone but it wants the security code off the back and I can’t remember it.

No Apple Pay option either.

I have just noticed that they haven’t got her size anyway so I’m glad I hadn’t dragged myself off the sofa yet
