What have you actually bought on Black Friday?

I've found the barrage of emails and ads quite overwhelming so haven't looked for anything until today.... when I bought:

Sunday Riley moisturiser (20% off at Liberty - used my beauty drop money)
An Aura digital photo frame for my parents for Christmas (£30 off)
An Emma Bridgwater calendar for 2024 (10% off)

All things I was going to buy at some point anyway. I don't think I'll look again now as it's too easy to spend money!

What have you bought this year, if anything?

Ridge wallet for DP's birthday in a couple of weeks.
Electric toothbrush for DS2, but only because his finally gave up the ghost on Thu.

WetBandits · 25/11/2023 10:03

Might’ve just bought myself some new Crocs for work 🤭 they were £60 and I couldn’t justify paying that so close to Christmas but just checked and they were £40 soooo Merry Crocmas to me 😁

AdoraBell · 25/11/2023 10:06

Nothing this year. Christmas presents bought earlier this year on offers and I don’t anything.

MummyMumMumMummy · 25/11/2023 10:08

I brought an air fryer.

I also put a dress, some earring and some boots in my basket from boohoo.com that totalled £43 before discount, the day before Black Friday, woke up and checked the offers on Black Friday and my basket had shot up to £67 before discount, all items still in the sale. I was fuming so refused to buy. I knew some places like to inflate prices but that was ridiculous 😭😭

EasternStandard · 25/11/2023 10:09

A few presents for dc

Stroopwaffels · 25/11/2023 10:10

Some haircare brand set thing from a brand I'd never heard of for my niece.

Booked a city break next year with £300 credit from a cancelled 2023 holiday and got another £100 off which really means we got a room upgrade and breakfast for free.

White fox hoodie
Le Mieux clothes
Gym shark clothes all for DD 12 Xmas
Lego for DD 9 Xmas
Handbag and purse for myself because it's been a shitty week & DH told me to treat myself

Riverlee · 25/11/2023 10:16

Walking trousers for me from Craghopoers. Had extra discount of sale price.

Some bits and pieces from company called Inner Wolf. Also had extra discount off.

Sports stuff from M and m direct

SamuelDJackson · 25/11/2023 10:38

Philips lumea - got a better model for my budget
2 laptops for DCs who both need them for school - one is a refurbished bargain, first laptop for youngest DC whos class will start using them after Christmas, other is a new model for older DC who is exam age, and needs a replacement of his old refurb.
A pair of sensible black winter boots - 50% off
A pair of less sensible yellow boots, also 50% off which was very much an unneccessary treat

Apart from the yellow boots all things that were planned purchases and in budget
off to look at a sports shop sale today to see if I can get any winter running gear cheaper

TigerRag · 25/11/2023 10:40

A coat. Was £160 and I paid £49.

Girasoli · 25/11/2023 10:55

Yes, a hot wheels thing and a dressing up set for DS2s Christmas presents.

LlynTegid · 25/11/2023 11:54

Two pints of milk, a loaf of bread, and a Yorkie bar.

Plumful · 25/11/2023 12:12

Max make up on asos which was 30% off, I needed it so may as well buy when it’s cheaper. Shark hair styler.

Anoisagusaris · 25/11/2023 12:53

Lot of stuff, but nothing I wouldn’t have bought anyway for Christmas. I don’t see why I’d wait a couple of weeks to have to buy at a higher price. I try to buy from Irish retailers when I can.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 25/11/2023 12:58

Some Schleich figures from Smyth's (3 for 2) for the DC for Christmas.

And cat food.

xogossipgirlxo · 25/11/2023 13:08

I accidentally used black friday offer because I needed this stuff anyway. Bought day and night eye cream, spf and got free make up remover.

Mercurial123 · 25/11/2023 13:12

Nothing. I'm doing a low spend 6 months. I don't need anything.

Thecomfortador · 25/11/2023 13:16

Ordered a bike for ds1's birthday in a couple of weeks. £150 instead of £200, hope it's a reasonable one.

greengreengrass25 · 25/11/2023 13:34

Pillows
Shower gel
Make up

All gifts

I will also be buying more gifts from JL website

DH did go to the actual shops yesterday and bought one thing from fat face, again a gift

Love a good coat, and that’s a good price. What did you buy?

Mimilamore · 25/11/2023 15:29

Natural linen duvet set and bottom sheet
Ninja dual max
Was wanting the bed linen after returning from Oz where everywhere I stayed had it
The Ninja I've been wanting for a long time as my mini oven is very old and unreliable now

BoohooWoohoo · 25/11/2023 16:03

Thanks to the poster who alerted be to the 25% Boots Quidco I bought some aftershave and other toiletries that I needed
also ordered some stuff that I was going to buy anyway at 20% off.

IDontHateRainbows · 25/11/2023 18:57

I've nought a 12 days of perfume thing off space nk.

A christmassy/ fancy jumper and a dress both half price from monsoon

A few beauty products 25 % off at cult beauty.

Dunno if it's just me but I can't remember retailers discounting quite so much before.... 50% off clothing never used to happen in November.

Is it a sign retailers are finding it v tough and an impending recession? Ah well every cloud, may as well get some bargains

Fraca · 25/11/2023 20:35
