What have you actually bought on Black Friday?

I've found the barrage of emails and ads quite overwhelming so haven't looked for anything until today.... when I bought:

Sunday Riley moisturiser (20% off at Liberty - used my beauty drop money)
An Aura digital photo frame for my parents for Christmas (£30 off)
An Emma Bridgwater calendar for 2024 (10% off)

All things I was going to buy at some point anyway. I don't think I'll look again now as it's too easy to spend money!

What have you bought this year, if anything?

Clothes for little one
Face wash
Face cream

ThreeRingCircus · 24/11/2023 22:44

A water flosser

My foundation that I'm about to run out of had 25% off so I ordered a new bottle

The holiday club DDs go to had 20% off so I've booked all of their time in holiday clubs for 2024! It was a saving of £136 so I'm pleased with that!

Nothing! Not spending a penny on cyber Monday either. Boycott all businesses which contribute to arming genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine. We have to do something to stop this rotten practice of using our money to fund apartheid.

SantiagoSky · 24/11/2023 22:47

Nothing at all, very freeing :)

Tisfortired · 24/11/2023 22:48

Tshirt for DP for Xmas from Flatspot
Matching croissant sweatshirts for me and baby DS

I think that’s it! Like you I got too overwhelmed but all of the emails. I might keep an eye out on Cyber Monday for
good deals on toys for Christmas.

Doggymummar · 24/11/2023 22:51

Boots makeup and buying 2 bits got me a whole palette free. I've decided Santa will put that in MY stocking!
New TV. Very relieved we have made it to these sales before the big tv conked our all together.
Contemplating a microwave as our one is also on its last legs. We worked out that it is 19 years old though so done well!

Nothing.

In my opinion, Black Friday is merely a tool to enable retailers to offload the shit they can't sell during the year.

wannabetraveler · 24/11/2023 23:03

my usual neck cream (50% off), and shampoo and conditioner (30% off). A party dress that I need for upcoming big birthday/Christmas/work event (20% off).

Well, yes. It's a sale, that's what they are!
Same as any other sale, many retailers lead with a few genuinely great offers to pull you in and entice you to buy more stuff (I'm their ideal victim!)

Astridastro · 24/11/2023 23:10

I bought a bag a week ago with 10% off but I would have bought it anyway. I bought a moisturiser in an actual shop with a free gift but I'd nearly run out anyway. I usually buy loads of skincare/make up but I don't seem to need anything (except Bare Minerals Fairly Light which has been out of stock for a year). I also got my traditional hand cream from L'Occitane (plus a perfume I hadn't actually run out of - my only impulse purchase!). I always buy a big tube of the hand cream on BF with 20% off, plus an extra 10% for being in their members' club, and it lasts all winter!

Really wanted some basics from M&S for both me and DH (also 20% off) but the things I want for me have been out of stock in my size for about 6 weeks.
I will have to pay postage so don't really want to have to place two orders.

Off to look at trainers - I would like some Hokas or OnClouds for my bad ankle...

It's always expensive to return things from here (rural France) unless you can do click and collect, so I only buy online if I'm sure.

chipshopElvis · 24/11/2023 23:35

The stuff that was already in my Look Fantastic basket for DD with the extra discount and some lego as presents.

RenoDakota · 24/11/2023 23:40

Two Christmas jigsaws - one for me and one for a friend.
Michael Palin's book Great Uncle Harry, for my DP.
Hat and scarf for me.

Starseeking · 24/11/2023 23:47

The Hive heating system. I've been umming and ahhing about it for a little while as my current heating machine has lost its screen, and with winter coming I'd like to be able to program the heating to come on and go off.

Hive plus pro install plus subscription cost me £222. It's usually around £350, so I'm happy I got what I needed today and saved a bit of money.

tillyandmilly · 24/11/2023 23:54

Cashmere hat
charlotte tilbury make-up - xmas presents
mountain warehouse coat £60 off!

dressedforcomfort · 24/11/2023 23:55

Nintendo Switch for DS for Cmas and a Sonicare toothbrush for me.

CesareBorgia · 24/11/2023 23:57

I haven't bought anything - nothing struck me as a genuine bargain. The genuine concept of sales as as they used to exist is almost dead now; what we have is year-round variable prices and either you pay a very inflated price or a slightly inflated price for most of the year. So I'm not being conned into it.

plortus · 25/11/2023 00:42

Baby Einstein piano and guitar
Secondhand books
Wrist warmers from Etsy
School uniform with 20% off
Rechargeable batteries
Bag and bits from Smiggle

I've bought some other stuff for the house but not discounted, just got around to placing an order now.
There'd loads more I need to buy but it's overwhelming browsing separate websites and my toddler won't leave me alone for long enough to do it properly.

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/11/2023 01:00

I bought a bundle of clothes for DC Christmas, saved £80 on a £300 order of things they needed anyway. Still looking for boots for me.
