It is a trick question @MrTiddlesTheCat Disabled person replies that they have a pet that they look after. Assessor can then use (twist) that to "prove" disabled person can do certain things that in reality cannot do.

IClaudine · 23/11/2023 14:00

While I remember, this thread was really useful when we were filling out DH's PIP forms and I am sure contributed to him being awarded higher rate PIP for both components with no issues.

dontcallmelen · 23/11/2023 14:35

Thank you so much @IClaudine will take a look, the last time I filled out the form it made me ill for weeks.
yy the sneaky tactics they put water/glassware on the table but a little out of reach so if you make attempt to get some they use that against you.
my daughter has lupus she applied for PIP the day I accompanied her for the assessment her feet were so swollen she could only get flitflops on her feet (was December & freezing) I practically carried her into the room the assessor said she was fully mobile & appropriately dressed her application was denied.
im not holding out much hope that Labour will change anything much.

Wow. So having a cat I talk to cancels out my autistic communication issues? Because telling him that I loves him and his fluffy little feeties shows that I am perfectly capable of cold calling strangers and selling them shit. Or maybe opening and serving a sachet of food twice a day shows I can work as a waitress.

I'm so sorry for people going through this. I'm so glad we moved to Sweden. Here I had one assessment done by a team at my local health centre and was signed off for life (they understand that some disabilites are forever). My only issue with them was that they wanted to sign me off 100% but I only wanted 50%, in the hope that one day I'd get my shit together enough to do something useful with the other 50%.

Professor Dame Angela McLean (Government Chief Scientific Adviser) has also confirmed that Sage and other committees were NOT consulted about EOTHO

Energy prices will rise by 5% in January

Have they said why?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 23/11/2023 16:08

So Cleverly denied he said it. But now claims he said 'Because it has a shit MP'. I'm not sure how that makes it any better.

I also wonder how Penny Mordant feels having stood up in Parliament and defended him because she believed his denial.

Oh so it’s OK to call another MP shit? They took great exception to being called scum as I remember but I guess that’s different. Bastards.

@RafaistheKingofClay I would much rather see increased funding for public services. And I am a humble basic rate taxpayer. Not going to happen under this lot though.

Did anyone hear the Treasury guy on PM? I want some of what he's been smoking - listening to him, you'd think all our public services were sparkling and shiny due to all the Tory investment. Oh, to be that stoned at work...

I assumed you would. Happily most people who voted on the AIBU thread yesterday agreed.

Amazing how badly the Tories have judged the mood of the country.

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/11/2023 17:47

Re: LHA there won’t be an exact amount will there because it depends on what’s happened to rental prices in the local area. It restores the LHA amount to the 30th centile of properties of that type in the area you are renting.

I think it’s only for one year too, they’ve put a freeze on it again after that, cheeky fuckers. Especially given it was on the 50th centile when they came to power.

I've got a touch of deja vu.

SoMuchSimpler · 23/11/2023 18:10

Well someone can clearly be heard saying 'shithole', rather than 'shit'.

Never mind stoned, how much of the white powder was found there?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 23/11/2023 18:29

Why can't they just put their hands up and admit things? Do they not understand the basics of how humans work? I used to be a financial services complaint handler and nothing pisses people off more than you bullshitting them. They're not stupid, they know what you're doing. The public are extremely forgiving if you're honest with them. 'Yes I did it. It was extremely stupid of me. I'm sorry. It won't happen again' and mean it. 'What he said was out of order and I will deal with it, it won't happen again' and mean it. It's not hard but they seem incapable of it.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

That reminds me, DH has been calling Sunak Squealer since he tried to sneak out an amended list of his 5 pledges.

RafaistheKingofClay · 23/11/2023 19:09

That’s my other favourite passage of Orwell for this government.

newnamethanks · 23/11/2023 19:26

That's what was once termed "unparliamentary language" Mr Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker. Have a bloody word, at least.

Have they said why?

Higher wholesale costs faced by suppliers, UK's reliance on foreign energy supplies had left it "vulnerable to price increases caused by events around the globe."

Something I learnt during the endless threads about partygate was that the Prime Minister is only responsible for the plants in Downing Street, so can't possibly be expected to form an opinion on the language used by senior ministers.

P.S. But Jeremy Corbyn.

itsgettingweird · 23/11/2023 20:55

Thanks duncin

Sits back and awaits "record profits" announcements.

Just like the supermarkets who only apparently raised prices with inflation.

Notonthestairs · 23/11/2023 20:57

So the Conservative answer to Why are 34% of children in Stockton North living in poverty? Is "Because it's a shithole."

Whatever happened to levelling up?
Oh yes this happened-

"IFS - cuts implied to unprotected Govt departments day-to day budgets AND to net investment, in real terms “broadly in line” with return of Coalition-era austerity, in next PArliament 24-29

Current, unprotected (eg courts, prisons, housing etc) -13%
Net Investment -24%"

Where did the money for yesterday's tax cuts come from?

Here's the one chart @TheIFS summary of the Autumn Statement. Tax cuts were matched almost 1-for-1 by cuts in the real-terms generosity of public service budgets.

Are public services budgets increasing in line with inflation?
What has happened to our debt payments - these have increased with the higher interest rates.
