I have just been reading the foodbank thread and thought it wasn't as bad as I expected, quite the indictment of this site at times Sad

I've quite enjoyed it, as you may have been able to tell!

Been flicking through the newspapers online this morning. Jenrick has been a busy boy, briefing against Sunak's Rwanda treaty in The Telegraph and Times ahead of Tuesday.

Nothing short of the hardline position of opting out of the ECHR will do according to Honest Bob - so honest in 2020 he tried pushing through Richard Desmond's housing project so that he could avoid paying a community charge. Desmond then donated 12,000 to the Conservatives.

Jenrick later accepted his approval of the housing was unlawful.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Why on earth don't we remove Ministers that act unlawfully?

I wonder about the goady threads.

Are they just sad sack trolls or is there something more organised behind them? They are so often started by posters who seem to have very recently name changed.

They’re organised. MN is known to be influential in the run up to an election so I guess we’re all going to be pretty busy when Sunak finally accepts the inevitable and names the day.

It’s interesting watching the right of the Tory party begin the narrative that they’re going to lose power because they’re not far enough right and we’re all gagging for Rwanda and will vote them out if we don’t get it. It’s really scary how delusional they are.

I think there are a lot of accounts linked to this kind of thing going on

I think it should be illegal for anyone to use their services in this country, and 100% forbidden for political parties

I also think there are clearly posters on here who are being paid to post on behalf of certain political viewpoints. I cannot believe anyone loves Kemi Badenoch and Suella Braverman as much as several posters on FWR for example.

Times read on Rwanda maelstrom:

* Cabinet ministers think it’s Brexit all over again - just 30 rebel Tories could kill the plan

* PM said to be increasingly fractious

* Threat from two groups - Tories drawing battle lines for life after Sunak & those preparing to stand down

Not sure what the 2 groups are, the Braverman/Jenrick Nat C's and ?

I think possibly the two groups are the National Conservatives and the Conservative Nationalists.

DuncinToffee · 09/12/2023 11:36

This 'rebellion' is going to be a damp squib, isn't it?

Notonthestairs · 09/12/2023 11:55

I think the One Nation group will vote in favour on Tuesday. But I think Braverman & Jenrick's Nat C's may well vote against. They are certainly desperate to make their case in the media

DuncinToffee · 09/12/2023 12:36

Enjoyable analysis in Popbitch of how many storylines in 2003's Love Actually would become impossible under the proposed 2023 legal migration rules

I think it means he's threatened by rebellion from those who are planning a leadership bid and want to cause chaos (Braverman, Jenrick, maybe Badenoch, Mordaunt etc) and the 55(?) MPs who have already said they aren't standing again so have less pressure to vote with the whip

How do people live with so much hate rolling around inside them?

I'm asking missed the same thing more then once daily now

Was one of the posters who used to post pro Tory rubbish on these threads called Janiie? Someone with that name is really peeing me off on the thread about Shane McGowan's funeral and trying to remember if it's the same person.

There was, they were of the belief that it was essential for his functioning for Boris to have a birthday party and couldnt understand why children would have similar needs.

🧵 In Liverpool, midwives are predicting a rise in sudden infant deaths because so many families are currently homeless

Staggering that this can be happening in one of the richest countries in the world

I read this and honestly I could weep with frustration. Babies dying in the cold.

"He told Mr Gove in a letter that the local authority's spending on providing accommodation has spiralled from £250,000 to more than £19m in just three years."
