🚨 News conference at No.10 at 11am

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 10:03

Seems to have been hastily arranged, seems to be more about 'stop the boats' 🙄 than a GE or whatever.

What a bloody shambles, as I've said before, I and I think a lot of other people don't even care about the boats. I'm not sure why the Tories are choosing this as a hill to die on, but it seems that they are...

🚨 News conference at No.10 at 11am

It had better say I’m calling a general election.

Roussette · 07/12/2023 10:25

I nearly fell out my chair when BBC said "And we have breaking news... Rishi Sunak...."

Thought he'd resigned!

Watching the sack of porridge trying to justifying the bonkers Eat out to Help out.
It was one of those ideas scribbled on the back of a fag packet quite obviously...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/12/2023 10:26

Not sure whether I can bring myself to watch the news conference, as if it's about the bloody boats again I will just scream.

Notonthestairs · 07/12/2023 10:34

"Breaking🚨
The government has recruited just HALF of the secondary teacher trainees it needed this year according to Department for Education data

This is even worse than last year when 57% of the target needed were recruited"

News conference will be about Rwanda. As if thats all this country has to worry about right now.

In other news the Times reporting that Conservatives have raised £15 million in donations in 3rd quarter of this year. Lab £3 million. L/d £1 million.
Helpful then that the Conservatives raised the cap parties can spend on elections. Can only assume Tory donors don't have their kids in state schools.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/12/2023 11:11

I was going to ask what’s the point of wasting all that money on an election you are going to lose. But it’ll be a tax dodge won’t it. It’ll be sitting in a mate’s bank account in the Cayman Island. Or rather the bank account of a brand new company with no assets that’s been paid for doing something they have no experience in and won’t end up doing.

L1ttledrummergirl · 07/12/2023 11:14

He is so petulant. Out of patience and out of ideas. Pushing this through at any cost.

This bill is dangerous and any MP who votes for it is undermining our constitution, values and British way of life.

This government disgusts me and I really can't see how so many conservative MPs support it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/12/2023 11:16

‘Next week’s vote is not a confidence vote’.

Oh dear.

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 11:19

They're going to lose the vote next week. Rishi seems to be having some sort of mini tantrum here on the stage that people aren't more grateful for all he's done.

Honestly, with all the money he has, why doesn't he just do us all a favour, sack it off, call a GE, and go and live a glorious, luxury life in the sunshine somewhere.

Cornettoninja · 07/12/2023 11:20

If I just keep reeling of a list of things that I think prove what a fabulous leader I am eventually you’ll all just believe it. Right? RIGHT?

Notonthestairs · 07/12/2023 11:21

‘Next week’s vote is not a confidence vote’.

Oh dear.

He couldn't risk it being a confidence vote.

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 11:21

Right! 🤣

Cornettoninja · 07/12/2023 11:23

That’s fighting talk there @TokyoSushi. I’ll make a new law banning that if I think I’ll lose. Right?

(he’s one step away from saying ‘you get me?’)

Cornettoninja · 07/12/2023 11:20

If I just keep reeling of a list of things that I think prove what a fabulous leader I am eventually you’ll all just believe it. Right? RIGHT?

Just make it a law and then it magically comes true.

Very well put

the80sweregreat · 07/12/2023 11:29

When is this vote taking place ?

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 11:34

Just 'next week' at the moment I think...

Notonthestairs · 07/12/2023 11:36

Sunak is at the Covid Inquiry on Monday I think so after that?

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 11:37

Also what utter nonsense, the Supreme Court says we can't send people to Rwanda because it's not safe because you can't guarantee where Rwanda will send them next.

So the argument now is that Rwanda is safe, because we've said it's safe, and Parliament is Sovereign, and it can't be questioned. So it's safe now, because we say it is, and we've signed a bit of a flimsy 'treaty' to say so. Good grief.

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2023 11:39

All this to deport 200 people to Rwanda

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2023 11:40

That we've spent £140m on so far @DuncinToffee!
