Very random question. In about 1989 a girl in my secondary school made me two tapes to expand my taste in music. One was the Dead Kennedys and the other one was either a girl band or a band with a girl singer. I vaguely think it might have begun with a V. Does anybody have any ideas?

It's not the Violent Femmes or The Velvet Underground. It's not Hole but a similar vibe I think.
