Why are you awake?

I went to bed around half ten and conked out straight away. Woke up around half 1 and still no sign of getting back to sleep. I'll be knackered tomorrow.

Why are you all awake at this ungodly hour?

Story of my life!

Throwingpots · 14/11/2023 05:17

Toothache that woke me at 3.50, then worry about adult son who still lives at home who’s recently been diagnosed with ADHD and ASD is severely depressed and I know is now sitting in the shed in the garden unable to sleep too. I’ve got to go to work in a few hours, so glad I’ve found you lot.

Lilothblos · 14/11/2023 05:21

31 weeks pregnant. Woke up at 2:30 needing the loo and have been tossing and turning feeling wide awake since.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 14/11/2023 05:24

Went to bed early but tossed and turned from 2.15am, gave up so sat and watched some sketching tutorials on YouTube.
I might get up and make some toast but DH is asleep downstairs (normal for him, he’s a dreadful sleeper and I can’t sleep in the same room as him let alone the same bed!)
it’s going to be a very long day…..🙄

I've got a cough, a broken foot, and awful anxiety. Not enjoying life at all.

CheeseandGherkins · 14/11/2023 05:31

Im an early riser but woke at 3.30 today and got up. I'm sick with a nasty virus so it's hard to sleep. Headache, throat like swallowing glass, aches and pains, cough, all the good stuff. Stuck a wash load on, made a tea and just had a chocolate croissant.

Sitting in hospital with my daughter who's only 4 months old and has had a really bad reaction to her 16 weeks vaccine. She's also been detected with COVID, unfortunately. Feeling sad and depressed. Thinking about how pathetic my in-laws have been throughout marriage.

I hope she's ok, so worrying when they're so little. Get some rest when you can 🫶

Story of my life!

Have you ever read that book??

It's not about insomnia...

Not being able to sleep is the story of my life.

The Helen Keller book?

cassiatwenty · 14/11/2023 05:46

Sleep schedule went topsy turvy again Confused

Tonight1 · 14/11/2023 05:50

@TortolaParadise no it's a book by Jay McInerny - apparently the main character is based on Rielle Hunter who had an affair with senator John Edwards and had a child.

I think the book may have been called story of my life which is why you reminded me of it! Nothing to do with insomnia. Lots of pills and Americanisms.

But to go back to Brit yes I've always had terrible insomnia as well.

biscuittos · 14/11/2023 05:57

Upset stomach 🥴 wondering how best to look after a 4 month old who has her vaccinations today if I can't leave the loo...

In an emergency, immodium, nappies and a stomach settling medication?

If you're too ill get the appointment changed

Tonight1 · 14/11/2023 06:07

Sorry I meant nappies for you. I was very sick before a travel journey and seriously had to contemplate buying adult ones but stayed put in the end.

MyCircumference · 14/11/2023 06:12

my dog woke me, licking my ear,
she obviously needed to go out at 4.45!

biscuittos · 14/11/2023 06:19

Thanks, @Tonight1 - I did find myself staring at her nappies earlier 😅 hope you've got yourself that tea since your earlier post. Definitely not too early now to quickly pop the kettle on and grab a brew ☕

AllWeWantToDo · 14/11/2023 06:21

Couldn't sleep, logged on to work at 3 so now having a break

Thatladdo · 14/11/2023 06:33

I had an hour and a half yesterday afternoon, still awake now, almost time to make breakfast and school run, probably have an hour or two through the day.
Mixture of pain from my body seemimgly disintegrating in the past 14 months and gabapentin doing nothing for pain, but seems to keep me perpetualy awake.
Always been a shift worker / night owl but this is ridiculous tbf 😆

mondaytosunday · 14/11/2023 06:49

Dog here too about an hour ago. I stripped my bed yesterday but got distracted and never remade it so last night at midnight couldn't face it so went to bed in the spare room. This rather discombobulated my older dog so heard him getting a bit anxious pacing a bit earlier so took them both downstairs, which meant feeding the cats (they are confined downstairs overnight otherwise I'd be woken up early every morning). Then I stupidly picked up my phone....
Last year I'd be up by now anyway but my daughter is no longer at school so our schedule has shifted at hour and a half.

TortolaParadise · 16/11/2023 03:57

Nearly morning for all of us in the wide awake club!

Bemyclementine · 16/11/2023 04:00

My spell of almost complete sleeplessness broke 2 nights ago. But I'm still waking for a couple of hours around 3am. It's such an improvement that I'm happy!

TortolaParadise · 16/11/2023 04:10

That is good news.
