Can someone tell me how it's possible le at 49? Does it mean she somehow hasn't gone through the menopause?

@pinkfongg Why would you think all women have concluded the menopause aged 49?

Lots of women continue to have periods and remain fertile into mid 50s easily and some longer.

I mean, congratulations to the parents, I’m sure the baby will bring them much joy. But.
I’m 48 - I cannot for the life of me understand why someone my age, who has already had several healthy children, would have a baby? I had my second a week after my 41st birthday and I was utterly shattered for about 3 years! Then went straight from breastfeeding to peri menopause.
it’s none of my business of course but the thought process is beyond me 😁

Did Tana carry and give birth to the baby or was surrogacy involved, interested to know. Surely it wasn't her own eggs, she must be menopausal.

My mum always said I was her menopause baby. She was 41 when I was born in 1971. This was positively ancient back then. I wouldn’t have chosen older parents as a child. I was always aware of how much older they were than my friends’ parents and it bothered me.

But they were both hail and hearty and died well into their 90s, so it mattered less as I got older.

I was a young mum in 1971, a teenager in fact. Fastforward to 1977/8 and became friends with a mum 20 years older than me. One day she said it made her sad that her child kept saying she wanted a young mum like me, I told her it made me sad when my 7 year old wanted to inspect my clothes before parents evening or any school event as I was so much younger than his friends parents and it was embarrassing so I had to wear clothes like their mums.

Honestly you can't win.

my great granny had twins at 52. She thought thwy were menopause.

I wish I wasn’t still ovulating because I definitely don’t have the energy for twins

Was her surname Edwards by any chance?! As that is exactly what happened to my Great Grandmother! They didnt know it was twins until she gave birth as this was mid 1930's.

No one else's business really is it. Never understand the infatuation with celebrity lifestyles. I find it bizarre.

Don't click on the threads then?!

ChannelNo19EDT · 11/11/2023 19:44

Money can sweep away so many problems, when the baby's parents need care, the are now a bi family, with money, they will be fine!!

ChannelNo19EDT · 11/11/2023 19:45

A big family not a bi family ha ha

When I was still at school in the 1960s one of our neighbours had a baby, she was in her 50s and I'm pretty sure there was no using donated eggs back then. It can happen. If she used a surrogate she had a really good false pregnancy bump.

Georgyporky · 11/11/2023 19:46

Wondering when the arch-rival JO will announce another babyO is on the way ?

Weridmouse · 11/11/2023 19:47

Well my teenage DD loves Hells Kitchen, but said would hate having a baby sibling.
And she told me about the post on Instagram.
I was actually very impressed with her age,
good luck to her.
I would hate to go back to the baby years.

Jools Oliver will be next. She's baby mad.

I was thinking more like Mrs Beckham!

AFieldGuideToTrees · 11/11/2023 19:48

A relative of mine has two sets of two with twelve years separating the pairings. Each to their own and everything, I do wonder what the thought process is.

OhNoForever · 11/11/2023 19:48

Selfish to have a baby at that age. I lost my dad at 65. The baby would be in midteens.

LunaNorth · 11/11/2023 19:48

Bugger that for a game of soldiers.

Just because there is a photo of someone in bed with a baby doesn’t mean they gave birth to it.

She didn't look like someone who had given birth. I thought the photos felt 'off'.

I wish them and the baby well of course. But as the child of older parents (late 40s when I was born) I think it's very selfish. It's about them not about the child.

Elderflower14 · 11/11/2023 19:47

Unlikely. She's done as her last was the opposite sex of the first three DC. If the Beckhams were going to have more they would have done so years ago.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 11/11/2023 19:51

I hope they didn't buy it.

SantaBarbaraMonica · 11/11/2023 19:51

I feel sorry for them all. The dad is not a good husband. The most valuable thing in a family is trust and loyalty. They may have money but they don’t have that.

Miamonthly · 11/11/2023 19:26

@pinkfongg Why would she have gone through menopause at 49?? Average age to reach menopause is 51 in the U.K.

Was just about to say this - the spread of ages is 40 - 58 for menopause, so women can become pregnant naturally right up to almost 60.

^feels exhausted thinking about that^

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/11/2023 19:52

I am 50 and on contraception as my last set of tests confirmed I am still ovulating. I could get pregnant which is why I am so stringent with my contraception.

Fertility doesnt just stop on your 50th birthday.

How should someone who’s given birth look?!

After all of mine (6) from aged late teens to late 30's I looked like I had had a bad day in a threshing machine for at least a fornight afterwards!

Tiddlywinkly · 11/11/2023 19:55

Not a criticism, just an observation. I'm not sure she carried it. A very quick Google search only shows up pics of her pregnant with her now 4 year old. Absolutely open to the fact she may have done.

I struggled being pregnant at 29 and 31. Fair play if she did. It's not something I would relish at her age nor motherhood to a young baby in my 50s. They've got money for lots of help though which would make a huge difference.
