I’m 47 and would quite happily have another baby…if I could afford a night nanny and a house keeper!!! For the people saying she doesn’t look like she has just given birth, well I’m guessing she use the NHS. She will have had one on one care, a private room and bathroom, decent food…and probably a hairdresser if she wanted it.

  • didn’t use the NHS!

Nah, totally irresponsible. And very unfair on their older children. No one should have more than 2 kids

Won't the population then decrease and cause a crisis for the elderly?

HamBone · 11/11/2023 20:29

I’m 49 and still ovulating, although having a baby is the last thing on my mind!

One advantage is that their older four children are SO much older, they’ll be in their 40’s by the time Jesse turns 18. So if anything happens health wise to their parents, they’ll be mature enough to support their younger brothers (emotionally, none of them will need financial assistance) !

Sunday12 · 11/11/2023 20:34

I’m 48 years older than my youngest child so I like this kind of news.

edit to say I’m also a single parent and hoping to live long enough to see my children grow up and become independent. My youngest worries about me though. But that’s not the point of this thread. The Ramsey will be fine

Lentilweaver · 11/11/2023 20:35

I am 51 and still ovulating. I would rather cut my arm off than have a baby as I am enjoying travelling and time to myself way too much, now DC are grown.

blueshoes · 11/11/2023 20:38

She must have given birth to the baby otherwise it would be weird to pose bare from the top (modest) with a baby on her chest in what is clearly a hospital bed.

It won't be a surrogate. No chance of that.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 11/11/2023 20:39

Women may be ovulating still into their late 40s/early 50s but those eggs are decripit. The chances of chromosomal normality is barely existent.

Firefly1987 · 11/11/2023 20:40

Do people think losing a parent young is just no big deal to the child or are they genuinely expecting all these old parents to live to 105?

JamSandle · 11/11/2023 20:40

Congratulations to the family.

Lots of women go through the menopause much later than 49.

Yep, hate to break it to you younger ladies but I'm 54 and not finished with periods yet.

@SkyFullofStars1975 Oh I expect they had IVF, but I don’t think they used a surrogate. It would be truly daft to pose in a hospital bed wearing a hospital wristband if she hadn’t given birth. 😂

Miamonthly · 11/11/2023 20:45

It’s amazing this thread.

The woman is in a secure marriage, oodles of financial security, good health, a tonne of support including 4 adult children.

What is wrong with her having a baby?

Arguably they can provide a better life than most of us here commenting. A MUCH better life in all aspects.

And how horrible the comments - direct criticism and chastisement, invasive and rude questioning regarding whether she carried the child and surrounding the quality of her eggs.

It’s all a bit distasteful.

How wonderful they have been able to have the baby they wanted as a playmate for Oscar, especially after having a tragic miscarriage in 2016. How brilliant she is well, the baby is healthy and all are happy.

Congratulations Ramseys! Good cooking 🧑‍🍳

PP82 · 11/11/2023 20:45

I'm 41 and had a miscarriage this week. It was my first ever pregnancy. I've always wanted children. I know they have a lot more money than me, but this still gives me hope, as did Victoria Coren Mitchell last week. Times are changing and options for us (slightly) older ladies are increasing. Congratulations to the whole family!

VisionsOfSplendour · 11/11/2023 20:17

Can they not count? There were already more Ramsey offspring than Beckham's unless you're saying that DB has secret children

Yes he does. Has a child with Harper's teacher and more...

Typical life expectancy of a woman is 84. 'Child' would be 35 by then. I'd lost both my parents by the time I was 35.

My best friend died when her daughter was just 1.

The Ramseys are healthy, successful, and have much older children who will be there to love and nurture younger siblings.

@Firefly1987 I lost my Mum in my 20’s and it IS horrible, but this baby already has four adult siblings if their parents die on the younger side. I imagine the family has talked about that scenario and have guardians appointed if something were to happen.

So many people make it to their 80’s nowadays though and Gordon’s a triathlete, isn’t he? He’ll probably still be swearing away in 30 years. 🤣

villet · 11/11/2023 20:49

Did they use ivf or have any help ?

VisionsOfSplendour · 11/11/2023 20:50

Do you have proof that is true?

3luckystars · 11/11/2023 20:51

Congratulations to them. I think I read that they had trouble conceiving previously and also had a late loss which is a heartbreaking thing to go through. I hope they are happy. A new baby is good news.

Hugs for you. Make sure you take vitamin D - my consultant at the miscarriage clinic swore by it

Another stupid selfish couple that don't care about overpopulation

Overpopulation 😂 you are aware of what is happening to birth rates globally, right?

If the population doesn’t continue the Ponzi scheme that we call ‘a pension’ won’t be there for you to claim when the time comes…

Blackandwhitemakesgrey · 11/11/2023 20:54

CormorantStrikesBack · 11/11/2023 20:21

Yes but you still have to interact with the kid as a parent for a significant proportion of time. Playing with them, reading to them, days out, etc. I can only imagine that the Ramseys must have decided this is how they want to spend their 50s and 60s. I do find it baffling, as Dd hit the late teens I felt life was opening up for me again, to do stuff for me. Maybe I’m not as maternal.

There are plenty of older parents.

She must have had her first baby at a young age - 25? Loads will come on to say thats an average age, but in my circle, that is considered a young age.

I know a relative who had two children and then waited 15+ years before having another two. Like someone already posted, it was because they didn't want the third child to grow up effectively as an only child.

I'm in my late 40s and no sign of the menopause yet. For all those saying, they'd couldn't be paid enough to have more children, I would think the Ramsays experience of raising kids is very very different to the rest of us Night nurses, cleaning staff, admin staff, multiple homes, nannies, private schools, - it must be wonderful to have children with all that support.

For me, the biggest issue would be the risks involved. It must be very hard to do the necessary tests to see if the child will be healthy because if she wants babies so much (and she obviously does), weighing up the factors while deciding whether to proceed or not must have been very very tough.

Torganer · 11/11/2023 20:56

I find it hard to believe so many people ‘can’t understand’ why she wants another baby, and one at ‘her age’.

I have offspring, but I can understand why some people want to remain childfree. I can also understand why some stop at one, or why they want multiple. I had children late 30s, but can understand why people want them in their teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s.

Do the majority of people really not understand why people believe in different things and respect their right to do it? If so, no wonder we are in the state we are in with regards to empathy.
