No one else's business really is it. Never understand the infatuation with celebrity lifestyles. I find it bizarre.

Lilacdressinggown · 11/11/2023 19:15

They can afford a couple of Norland nannies to cover both the day and night shifts if they wanted. Then they can enjoy the youngest children without some of the more challenging aspects of parenting. Fair play to them I say.

Anyone else of the same as her read their announcement and instantly feel exhausted!

I'm assuming she has a team of staff....

But you are a minority - I would think most people are interested in a celebrity of some kind. Not necessarily infatuated- I don’t think this thread suggests infatuation- but interested. It’s human nature. There is probably a social reason for it.

Yea and I'm 39

Me too!! 😂😂

“No way” was my first reaction.

Followed by I don’t know how she does it.

And then I remembered all the money.

Well done them though, it’s a nice story they have.

Minglemangle007 · 11/11/2023 19:22

Well congratulations to her but that poor kid will have a 70 year old father at 13, mine was nearly 60 at that age and I loathed it ( though I appreciate that people seem to be much more young at heart these days)

Also, there was 19 years between my father and his older brother, they didn't feel like siblings and I met him only once before he died when I was 11.

pinkfongg · 11/11/2023 18:51

Can someone tell me how it's possible le at 49? Does it mean she somehow hasn't gone through the menopause?

@pinkfongg Why would she have gone through menopause at 49?? Average age to reach menopause is 51 in the U.K.

MattDamon · 11/11/2023 19:30

Jools Oliver will be next. She's baby mad.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 11/11/2023 19:31

I found this story from 2012 the first three children were IVF, almost certainlyfrozen embryos, TBF what to do with frozen embryos is a real ethical dilemma and she obviously loves babies.

Lovelove2 · 11/11/2023 19:31

Horrible bitchy comments on here

MyCircumference · 11/11/2023 19:32

advanced age

Zanatdy · 11/11/2023 19:32

Wow. Good for them. My brother has had a later life baby (his girls are in their 20’s) with his new wife who wanted children. He’s 49 and exhausted. But they can hire help, and nice for their other son to have a closer in age sibling

PastorCarrBonarra · 11/11/2023 19:33

Congrats to the family!
It’s easy enough to be an older parent when you can afford lots of staff. She may be exhausted from the actual birth but she’ll recover. Their lives - ongoing - don’t change dramatically because they have that level of wealth.

EachandEveryone · 11/11/2023 19:37

Can they keep embryos frozen for twenty odd years?

My poor 13 and 11 year olds have a 70 year old father.

It's pretty good actually. He's retired and solvent so does all the SAHD stuff and is there for them for school runs, homework, extra holidays when I am working and they are off school He;s in good health and with exceptional longevity genes so hopefully will be around for a while yet although that is of course no guarantee.

I'm alot younger clearly (although stressed and not in as good health as DH due to two autoimmune diseases) but again with any sort of luck will be around for some decades to come.

That's how our family cookie crumbled. We met when DH was over 50 and had our family at the time that was right for us. It works for us fortunately and is what it is. Too late to go back and change it.

The Ransays are on the very far side of solvent and will have alot more help than we ever did (i.e. none). They'll be fine.

But I'd still not like to be 50 and have a newborn.

Roselilly36 · 11/11/2023 19:38

Many congratulations to them, no one else’s business. I take me hat off to any mother of six, two were enough for me!

Vinrouge4 · 11/11/2023 19:38

Just because there is a photo of someone in bed with a baby doesn’t mean they gave birth to it.

It will almost certainly be her eggs frozen from last time, or donor eggs. It’s not impossible but very unlikely to conceive and carry to term at that age.

Vettrianofan · 11/11/2023 19:39

@Wendysfriend it's not a big deal when you just palm the baby off to a nanny if you need to get your sleep. Money affords you these luxuries.

theduchessofspork · 11/11/2023 19:40

LakeTiticaca · 11/11/2023 18:40

Whats with all these women having babies at such a late age? Janet Jackson, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Corven are they using donor eggs?.surrogates?

One or the other, almost certainly.

TheKnittedCharacter · 11/11/2023 19:40

My mum always said I was her menopause baby. She was 41 when I was born in 1971. This was positively ancient back then. I wouldn’t have chosen older parents as a child. I was always aware of how much older they were than my friends’ parents and it bothered me.

But they were both hail and hearty and died well into their 90s, so it mattered less as I got older.

Iwasafool · 11/11/2023 19:40

My eldest was 20 something when youngest born, the nice thing is the crossover between siblings/nephews & nieces/cousins. They all seem like sibling relationships. I found it easier as an older mother than a young mother, I seemed to need less sleep and by the time I had the last one I had a washing machines/tumble dryer/car/central heating etc which made it all seem so much easier.

Hope they are both happy about it and that all goes well.

Yes, and I had only just got over feeling exhausted by Victoria Coren.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 11/11/2023 18:49

Just because modern medicine can help women carry babies at this age doesn't mean that it should. It crosses the lines of ethical treatment IMO.

Is that child going to be grateful for geriatic parents when they're in their teens?

That’s a bit OTT

She’s 49, so probably pre-menopause. She almost certainly had help to conceive but it is possible to do so naturally at that age, so it’s hard to see that it’s unethical.

She’s not 60.
