I hate my new car, I feel sick

It’s my fault, I was easily talked into it by the sales person.

It’s such a basic car and I’m embarrassed by it. It’s expensive and I want to cry

I actually genuinely do think it is basic.

So many round my way. Its an ugly car.

I’m fact, what car is embarrassing?

This one is a bit embarrassing

Give over. That would an awesome car!

THIS is what you call embarrasing!....

To be fair to you, with the exception of Porsche all German cars are common.

Out of 24 houses in my road there are 7 Porsche's , so even they are common round these parts .

Not an expensive area either

Lol. So we can’t complain about anything in life because the world is shit?

Written by a bored man to perpetuate the myth that us delicate flowers are feeble-minded and utterly unable to make such an expensive purchase without being talked into something we don't want by a penis owner (unless we are, of course, accompanied by a penis owner).

It was too expensive for me, would have cost £800+ a month.

I'm driving a 15 year old Kia, and it's never broken down. If a 10 year old Audi needs binning because it's broken down twice, maybe luxury car brands are a false economy? But if you're the type to be embarrassed by a car, I suspect you wouldn't be seen dead in a Kia.

Did you miss my post saying I was driving a Kia?

Stupid spoilt woman. Just grow up

Maireas · 11/11/2023 14:25

I'll solve the problem - pm me and I'll take it off your hands for a discount price. Wear a disguise if you're too embarrassed to be seen in the car. Perhaps affect a loud foreign accent. I'll even give you the return bus fare.

I had my brother with me when I went into a Honda dealership fully wanting to buy a car - guy kept talking to him instead of me. So my money went elsewhere!

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/11/2023 14:25

It’s a Mercedes A Class

Only on Mumsnet!!! It's not a "naice car" I assume.

flowertoday · 11/11/2023 14:26

I always assume that all of those shiny new cars are on hire, or have been bought by people who are trying hard to impress. There is nothing impressive about any car really. The most interesting and thoughtful people seem to drive old basic cars, perhaps because they don't fall for all the ridiculous advertising and have chosen to spend money on something more useful.

OP I get what you are saying in that you don't want to have spent your money on something you don't want. Take it back, get something else. But no one will think more or less of you ( well no one with more than half a brain cell) according to what car you drive.

This one is a bit embarrassing

I only use my car to go and do the shopping. I'd LOVE to park that in Asda carpark every week.

You bought it on finance? Now that's tacky.

SgtJuneAckland · 11/11/2023 14:28

Is it an a180? I drove one recently and it was nice, proximity sensors nearly gave me a heart attack though, I'm knocking 40 OP and drive a Citroen, have a senior level professional job too! Didn't realise I should be embarrassed.....
Maybe I should get a newer car and pay monthly, rather than save and invest my money..... Definitely the mature non-embarrassing option.....

Jewelspun · 11/11/2023 14:28

There used to be a young lady circa mid to late 1980s I think who lives in the Southend on Sea area and it was either her father or her brother who did the car up for her and it was pink with spots a la Mr Blobby and the rear shelf was full of plush Mr Blobby's and there were Mr Blobby stickers on the windows!

Many thought it was embarrassing but it used to make me smile whenever I saw it.

I wonder where she and the car are now.

SgtJuneAckland · 11/11/2023 14:28

@Robyn847 that car is brilliant!

MissMoo2222 · 11/11/2023 14:29

To be fair, if I had that kind of money to spend on a car I'd definitely not have chosen the A Class so I don't think you're being completely unreasonable as it's not a very good looking car.

However I drive a Sportage and live on a council estate so what do I know!

Hmindr68 · 11/11/2023 14:30

I don’t know why you’re getting a hard time OP

Can you get someone to help you to invoke the cooling off period? You WILL be met by professionally persuasive people and having someone to keep you resolute may really help.

KatBurglar · 11/11/2023 14:30

Thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

A Mercedes. Oh, the humanity.

TravelInHope · 11/11/2023 14:30

getinthedust · 11/11/2023 12:44

It’s a Mercedes A Class and I just think it’s basic and a car a parent would buy a child who just passed their test.

Hahahahaha!!!

She may well live on a council estate, too. Nothing to be ashamed of..

I'd be embarrassed too op so I'd do everything in my power to change it.

The attitude that is, not the car.

Give me a Kia Sportage over a Mercedes any day of the week.
