What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

I thought I had read this thread before but can’t seem to find it, so I’ll ask again. What’s the best advice that you’ve ever received? I’m in need of some inspiration. My two are:
Don’t take criticism from someone who you wouldn’t take advice from; and
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good

Never let an old flame burn you twice

He who stirs the shit pot shall be made to lick the spoon

• basically, Karma.

And I'm a big believer of karma.

Be good, but if you can’t be good, don’t get caught.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

If life gives you lemons, just say "fuck the lemons" and bail.

It’s always darkest before the dawn - helped me in the darkest of sleepless nights to believe the morning would come and things would look brighter

You spend your 20s starting fires and your 30s trying to put them out.

Say yes to everything at least once

Don't owe money to anyone including the bank, my grandmother.

Said to me regularly by an elder gentleman father figure friend who became very dear to me ,when I was an 18 year old and just started work .

As I’ve got older it means more now than it did back then .

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

It's always darkest before the dawn- for sure. I have had periods of lying in bed worrying at 4am about all sorts.
To quote my recently deceased MIL- 'family comes first'
Treat others as they treat you.
Also- pause and think sometimes- this is a work thing for me- sometimes my gut reaction is not right and if I just mull it over I can see a different perspective.

Never wake a sleeping baby.

Follow your heart but take your brain with you

DH is a great friend and DC never found out that the rabbit died.

A therapist I was collaborating with on a community project once said that the most powerful word in the English language was 'no'. I use that a lot now, and it is very powerful indeed.
