Suella Braverman is a danger to the UK and needs to go.

I thought Suella peaked me with her "lets take tents off homeless people as winter is coming" shite. But her performative cruelty is no longer a surprise.

She has surpassed herself in the last 24 hours and become actively dangerous to police and public with her remarks about protests. She is our Home Secretary. Her job is to keep us safe.

So why the fuck has she done the complete opposite with goady, childish statements about police and protesters?Shock

Agree totally. I liked this statement on her from Baroness Warsi (tory)

“She fights culture wars. She doesn’t fix things, she breaks things,” the former Tory chair told Sky News. “I think she’s dangerous and she’s divisive.”

Baroness Warsi said: “We have now, sadly, some of my colleagues in government who project as patriots but they are indeed arsonists. They set this country alight – they pit community against community, they create these fires. And that is not the job of a government.”

The fact we have "communities" in the plural sense in this country is depressing tbh. People shouldn't defined by the "community" they belong to.

She’s trying to get fired as part of her leadership bid. I think at this point Sunak has to bite the bullet and accept he does need to fire her.

It’s not like he’s going to be Tory leader after the next election anyway.

Yes. It is all part of her longer term strategy. Bit like the Trump ‘martyr’ approach vis-de-vis his ongoing legal battles. ‘But they had it in for me 😩‘ Hideous power crazed woman.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 09/11/2023 11:33

Sorry, I totally disagree. She's a loudmouth politician much addicted to populist soundbites, but how much power and influence she actually has over Govt. policy, I beg leave to doubt.

I think she's in the Cabinet as a sop to the weaker minded members of the Tory right-wing.

Ignore her. It's what the PM seems to do.

secondfavouritesocks · 09/11/2023 11:34

Its fine, I know a rusty old barge with legionnaires disease she can stay on. Or I am sure we can find a patch of waste ground somewhere, without any type of shelter or tent, she seems to think this is good enough accommodation

LlynTegid · 09/11/2023 11:36

I agree the Prime Minister should dismiss her.

Please remember when there is a general election yet another reason not to vote Tory.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 09/11/2023 12:36

I would be terrified that there is some one worse than her waiting to take her place . I didn't particularly like Priti but just as we thought she was bad - Suella somehow managed to be a million times worse .
Be careful what you wish for springs to mind.

LittleGlowingOblong · 09/11/2023 12:37

I didn’t realise until today that she told the Jewish Chronicle in March that she has close family serving in the IDF.

Yes, family should always be kept out of the family arena, but is this not different? If someone in Cabinet had close family fighting in the Russian army right now I’m sure this would be legitimate news. So what’s the difference, in this particular context?

She absolutely has to go. I don’t kniw whether the PM is ignoring her or not, but she’s certainly ignoring him, as this morning has shown.

LittleGlowingOblong · 09/11/2023 12:38

The only person I can think of who would be worse would be Nigel Farage himself, and at least he’s not married to a vocal Zionist.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/11/2023 12:43

If her focus on her political ambitions and not the safety and stability of the country, she needs to go.

She's a product of the worst government in uk history. Sunak is utterly spineless. He won't sack her because he knows there is much support for her vile opinions within the tory membership, and firing her will bring on a vote of nc and leadership bid. She's a disgusting excuse for a human being who no right thinking person could support, but there were plenty of people ringing in to LBC on Ferrari this morning saying that she speaks for them.

Don't disagree with your sentiments, and hopefully, fingers crossed plenty of people don't think she speaks for them 99.9999% of the time but TBH I think when it comes to the general public outside and maybe even some inside the MN bubble she's hit a nerve with comments like (to quote her, as quoted in the Guardian):
“Unfortunately, there is a perception that senior police officers play favourites when it comes to protesters,”

There's been plenty of debate here over the years about exactly how the Met have chosen to go about policing certain protests and certain vigils. Can't find the original article but the Guardian piece at least has some quotes.

Suella Braverman accuses police of double standards on rallies

Criticisms will be seen as attack on Met chief Mark Rowley for allowing pro-Palestinian march in London on Armistice Day

JSMill · 09/11/2023 13:28

Just when you think she can't say anything more vile, she outdoes herself. Apparently she didn't even get approval for her op ed in the Times from No 10. That's a sign of weak Rishi is. I've already heard two Tory mps on the radio (Mark Harper and Tim Loughton) clearly unhappy with her.

TodayInahurry · 09/11/2023 13:32

She is correct. The gutless policing we currently have is a danger to the UK. The far left are just appeasing them

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/11/2023 15:23

A spokesperson for No.10 said she has the Prime Minister's full confidence. So I'm guessing she'll continue her plotting from the Backbenches soon.

We should start a countdown.
Being given the PM's full confidence gives her a maximum of two weeks left I reckon

Doormatnomore · 09/11/2023 15:36

I almost don’t want to write this cause I think I’m entering conspiracy theory territory, but I’ll look dead clever if I’m right 🤣. I actually think it’s all an act, part of an orchestrated performance to keep the right stories in the news. I think she loves power (even the perception of it) enough to be the one to say all the outrageous things. She doesn’t seem to have a particular axe to grind, just fuck everyone that is showing the government (or the UK) up. Cause she must spend hundreds of hours in meetings where she could voice her opinion and form plans but she seems to save it for public announcements.

Lampzade · 09/11/2023 15:39

She is just terrible

piscofrisco · 09/11/2023 15:58

She just comes across as unhinged and in a really nasty malevolent way to me. Rishi has distanced himself from her article today but I can't fathom why he bought her back in the first place and then let's her get away with awfulness after awfulness. I thought Patel was bad. Suella is beyond.

MorrisZapp · 09/11/2023 16:02

She's a horror. But my gender critical sisters on twitter are jumping to defend her because the world is now mental.

eardefender · 09/11/2023 16:02

I don't know what she said specifically about the protests but i am not a fan as are many people, they intimidate Jewish people and most people attending have no clue about Israel or hamas or the middle east. The tent thing is something people are concerned about. No one wants to walk through their main town and have to step aside for tents on main roads it is a bit ridiculous when there are enough accommodation spaces not to mention dangerous for the rough sleepers as they can be targeted. I cant pitch a tent in my local park and just start living there.

This.

feedyourheed · 09/11/2023 16:09

I wish we'd seen some of the faux outrage when the police clamped down on anti-lockdown and anti-vaccine passport protestors whilst letting the contrived BLM protests not just go ahead, but joining in with them and taking the knee.

I can't disagree with Suella that only certain protestors feel the sharp end of the baton.
