Suella Braverman is a danger to the UK and needs to go.

I thought Suella peaked me with her "lets take tents off homeless people as winter is coming" shite. But her performative cruelty is no longer a surprise.

She has surpassed herself in the last 24 hours and become actively dangerous to police and public with her remarks about protests. She is our Home Secretary. Her job is to keep us safe.

So why the fuck has she done the complete opposite with goady, childish statements about police and protesters?Shock

Pro-Palestinian protest in London: Row over Suella Braverman’s claim of police bias

The home secretary comes under fire after saying the force often "plays favourites" when policing protests.

Why couldn't they let the veterans have their weekend? No Arabella had to have her Palestinian protest. OK Yah

There was nothing to prevent the veterans having their weekend.

Well, as you ought to realise, they did. I'm sorry that you are so credulous that you actually believe Cruella and the Daily Mail, who would have us believe that the Palestine protestors stormed the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

Would you also stop the Tibet protesters from demonstrating outside the Chinese Embassy? The Rohingya from the Myanmar Embassy? The Ukraine supporters from the Russian embassy?

Ask Suella Braverman and Tommy Robinson why they disrupted Armistice Day.

The protestors asking for an Armistice in Gaza had nothing to do with the Armistice Day events and were nowhere near it.

In the interests of factual accuracy I would like to point out that Rembrance Sunday took place on Sunday attended by many veterans, with others attending around the country. And secondly that some of the same veterans attended the peace march on Saturday.

You clearly don’t live in central London.
Many people felt too intimidated to wear a poppy, that’s even if you could buy one.

I haven’t seen any for sale this year - many poppy sellers are older people who were intimidated by the anti semitic peace marches.

This is such nonsense. I work in central London and travel around that area a lot, last week it was full of people happily wearing poppies and it was extremely easy to buy them. They were on sale in the major stations, outside smaller ones, in shops, shopping malls, all over. The notion that people marching for an armistice would object to poppies is farcical.

derxa · 15/11/2023 07:50

What a strange idea. I condemn Suella Braverman and Tommy Robinson for their inflammatory behaviour.

The circus is moving on without her. It always does. She will be chip papers by next week

You want to ban a whole march because of a small group of people with alternative motives?

Just let the law do it's work and the let the police make arrests.

Alternative motives? That's an odd way of putting it. I'm sure it reassures Jews in London. Did you see the flares set off outside a synagogue on Saturday? Synagogues have to have security so that people can worship safely. All because of people with 'alternative motives'

I meant in a general way, protests always attrack disruptors, trouble makers.

With this march it was indeed anti semites and as I said they should get arrested for it!

It's a horrible time for Jewish people, I have not said anything else or denied the increase in anti semitsm

derxa · 15/11/2023 09:12

I don't see anything wrong with arresting them at a later time, police do the 'do you know this person' all the time.

But you wanted to ban the whole march because of that?

I don't want to ban marches but the tone of this was off.

There are obvious advantages to arresting at a later time but IMO doing so it creates a problem with public perception.

As I understand the thinking (probably badly) with a generally peaceful march it's in some ways easier for the Met/CPS/lawyers to sit back, look at the evidence very carefully (i.e. the recorded images...) and then over the next few days start knocking on doors.

The problem some appear have with the Met doing things is this manner it starts to appear as if they're not actually prepared (or perhaps, whisper this quietly, not even able) to enforce some aspects of the law on the day when it comes to large demonstrations.

Removing somebody off the street if they are parading with an offensive banner sends a rather clear and immediate message to the crowd, a brief piece at the bottom of page 3 of The Guardian/DM or whatever several days post the march maybe less so.

I completely agree with that. I just don't think it is possible with a march the size like that.

Yep, and that of course leads us to the next question.........

There shouldn't be any antisemitic placards anywhere full stop.

derxa · 15/11/2023 11:33

There also shouldn't be Home Secretaries urging senior police officers to break the law, or other ministers quite happy to break the law and lie about it to parliament, but each of those seem to have their supporters.

SinnerBoy · 15/11/2023 11:52

If course there shouldn't, but a few idiots spoiling the atmosphere does not mean that it would be right to stop the entire march.

@jgw1

People who support Braverman-the extreme right of the Tory party-are in the business of looking at areas usually associated with decent people and claiming it for themselves. It's a trick they learned from Trump. So it's common for them to accuse you of antisemitism and being against the Jewish people if you support the right of Palestinians to call for a ceasefire. You are in favour of mass immigration and open borders, apparently, if you don't want the tents of homeless people torn up. The truth is, they are appealing to a certain disenfranchised section of the population, and trying to grow it to support them by dishonest means. And, let's face it, they are plain nasty.

If you are referring to me then I don't support Suella Braverman or the right wing. I'm not accusing @jgw1 of antisemitism. She is a feisty poster who I enjoy sparring with. Thanks in advance
