Have you ever seen a red squirrel?

Please tell me where! I've been to the Isle of Wight and looked in all the places I was told about, no luck. Same to a place in Scotland they apparently live in the garden, nowt. Please help me see one!

I was about to suggest this. They have lots, and a breeding programme for building wild populations.

Anglesey, the Dingle reserve near Llangefni. Loads of them there. Saw 5 or 6 that day.

Caldey Island off Tenby. They were introduced there in 2016 and they currently have 50+.

I was here in August and saw lots.

Brownsea Island but fairly recently saw a grey squirrel that was more red than grey( an oxymoron) It was small for a regular squirrel.

Cadnant Gardens in Menai on Anglesey. You can go to the gardens for a day out or stay in one of the cottages. I stayed there one year and watched the red squirrels feeding in the garden every day. Amazing!!

You won't find reds anywhere where there are greys.

I grew up in Eastern Europe - only ever seen red ones )) was very surprised seeing a grey one, thought it was a rat!

Never seen a red one but have seen loads of black squirrels in our back garden! I’m in Cambridgeshire and I think they’re native to East Anglia?

Been to places they are meant to be - Anglesey, Northumberland, Perthshire and Lake District. Never seen a red squirrel. Never gone specifically looking for red squirrels though.

Yes, I’ve seen black ones in Central Park. Have also seen red ones in the Netherlands.

Saw a red squirrel earlier this year along the Eastern side of Loch Lomond.

Lots of black squirrels in Herts/Beds.

See them most days in Scotland. Have feeders up for them so usually at least one a day. The most I've had in the garden at one time was 4.
Also see them just out and about as live next to woodland
