My daughter is 3. Possible infection. She's had a seizure and I'm waiting for an ambulance but I feel so so scared and so so alone. Please

Well done OP
All the best for you and DD Flowers

bossybloss · 26/10/2023 21:14

Thank goodness xxx

USaYwHatNow · 26/10/2023 21:15

So glad to see your update OP. I had a 45 minute wait for an ambulance for my 1 year old last week. He had low oxygen SATs and was on oxygen at the GP surgery while we waited and even that was agony. They queried sepsis but was viral in the end. I was also considering scooping and driving with my husband. So traumatizing that that's the extent of the wait times now.

Anybody who has kids will understand when I say the relief I felt when her eyes were open and she smiled at me. Well I cried.

Viella11 · 26/10/2023 21:35

Can't imagine how scary this evening must have been for you, OP. We are here for you 💐 Do they have any idea what caused the seizure?

ClydeBank · 26/10/2023 21:37

Well done for trusting your instincts. We were in this situation about 12 years ago-my daughter was two and she had a series of seizures. Afterwards she would be floppy and unresponsive. We jumped in the car - did not wait for ambulance. Doctors said it was febrile convulsions linked to an underlying infection. It took a number of weeks for this to fully clear and in that duration, several repeat episodes and it was so frightening. But after that, no repeat.

seizures are surprisingly common at that age due to child’s system being able to regulate properly. And seizures are exhausting so v common (but terrifying I know) to have a limp and unresponsive child.

sending courage and comfort to you xx

Spendysis · 26/10/2023 21:38

Been thinking of you and your dd all evening and checking for updates. Wishing your dd a speedy recovery

notagainfml · 26/10/2023 21:39

Thatsnotevenmyusername · 26/10/2023 21:41

So sorry to hear about your little DD OP. So glad to hear you are both at hospital and she has perked up. I understand your fear, I’ve had to ring for an ambulance several times for my DD2 who has severe asthma. The last time she was taken to hospital via ambulance during the summer the ambulance took 25 minutes to arrive and yet we were the top emergency call, the ambulance service is just on its knees at the minute.

Wishing your DD a speedy recovery and you too, it takes it out of you xxx

Anewuser · 26/10/2023 21:45

Well done for trusting your instincts.

I’m angry on your behalf that you didn’t get an ambulance immediately. I’m sad that it has come to booking your own Uber.

I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery. Many times we’ve been in your position so know how you feel.

BestofLuck · 26/10/2023 21:47

What a relief for you OP! And well done for going with your gut feeling. Wishing you well and your daughter a speedy recovery 💐

AmazingSnakeHead · 26/10/2023 21:52

Oh OP, I'm so relieved for you. What a disgusting state this country is in, to leave a little girl on the floor for hours. Well done for taking initiative and getting here where she needed to be.

TentChristmas · 26/10/2023 21:54

Huge well done

LylaLee · 26/10/2023 21:54

Then you get the frivolous calls tying up the ambulances. I remember one case in the news about a decade ago. The guy wouldn't talk on the phone, gave an address, just mumbling 'emergency! Get here quick!' When the ambulance got there, he said he had run out of toilet roll.

Stupidliefromfriend · 26/10/2023 21:57

Well done OP, I'm crying too. That was a terrifying read, can't imagine what it was like for you.

Soapyspuds · 26/10/2023 21:58

but she gave me a smile

I am so pleased to read this update. You did the right thing with the cab.

MissIndecisive2023 · 26/10/2023 22:01

Gosh so please you got there safely. Hope your little one is ok

Ariel896 · 26/10/2023 22:01

So so glad everything is ok. Sending so many hugs xxx

Vinrouge4 · 26/10/2023 22:10

It’s very frightening when a child has a convulsion. It happened to a friend’s son when I was there. It was scary how unresponsive he was after.
