My daughter is 3. Possible infection. She's had a seizure and I'm waiting for an ambulance but I feel so so scared and so so alone. Please

Good luck. Thinking of you and your precious girl. Keep us updated.

2023shady · 26/10/2023 20:22

Tired is definitely normal. I feel like I've been hit by a bus and not slept for a week after one which is why people get so confused/angry after because all you want to do is sleep
Hope you're there soon and all is ok

loobylou10 · 26/10/2023 20:23

Oh my goodness how scary for you. Glad you're on your way. Sending positive thoughts for your beautiful girl

Aldicrispsareshit · 26/10/2023 20:23

Hopefully it's a swift in and out with antibiotics trip for you OP. Kids bounce back as quickly as they deteriorate.

Mamansparkles · 26/10/2023 20:24

Oh my, that is terrifying advice from 999. She is completely unresponsive and they have collated that with 'sleepy'.
You've done the right thing OP, thinking of you and hope all is well. When you get to A&E tell them how long she has been unconscious for, they will move quickly if she hasnt come round by then.

therealcookiemonster · 26/10/2023 20:25

@sugaryouth1 it sounds like a febrile seizure... not uncommon at her age. I am sure you are keeping her cool. did she fall or twist her neck during the seizure? personally... I would be tempted to user it. its criminal that this is the extent of the wait.

Movingstresss · 26/10/2023 20:25

You've done the right thing . I'll be thinking of you , and hoping your little girl makes a swift recovery. Sending lots of love and strength x

Resilience · 26/10/2023 20:25

💐@sugaryouth1
Hope your DD is ok.

toomanyjellyfish · 26/10/2023 20:26

Thinking of you OP, you've done everything right. Not sure why the advice on not moving, especially since you're with her so she can't choke if she vomits?

dontforgetme · 26/10/2023 20:26

Thinking of you both op.

cjcghana · 26/10/2023 20:27

Thinking of you my love xx

WithIcePlease · 26/10/2023 20:27

Thinking of you
I was in the same position with ambulance 20 years ago for the same thing. She was 4 weeks old. It's so worrying.
I got a cab too 👍

Countryliving0180 · 26/10/2023 20:27

Good mumma, honestly I'd rather have her in recovery position in the taxi than wait possible another 8-24 hours for an ambulance. My friend waited 16 hours for a ambulance for her 4 year old. Her daughter died that night. And even the Dr said she would have most likely loved if brought in sooner. Was infection but all the doctors were furious

DontDareToGetOld · 26/10/2023 20:27

This should NOT be fucking happening!
I'm so sorry OP. We're all here for you and little one.

Backtomyoldname · 26/10/2023 20:34

Hope she is ok. I'm pleased you are at A+E now. You might not be able to relax but at least you are in the right place.

When the dust has settled....... try to avoid this being labelled as epilepsy. (unless it really is)

My BIL (now 64) had a fit, possibly like this, when he was very young. Never had anything like it subsequently.

Unfortunately is was labeled as an epileptic fit - caused no end of driving, insurance and employment problems and expense.

LightSpeeds · 26/10/2023 20:34

Thinking of you and your daughter xx

sparklychampagne · 26/10/2023 20:36

4 hour wait?! That’s horrific. I’m so sorry op. Hoping you get some answers at the hospital asap and your daughter feels better soon

OllieCollieWoo · 26/10/2023 20:37

It is the scariest thing. We had similar, thankfully a neighbour drove my baby and I to hospital and instant care when we arrived. You can't wait for hours when they are not responsive.

I hope you are now at hospital and getting medical assistance.

And I hope it's one of those where they bounce back really quickly.

Wingingit11 · 26/10/2023 20:37

How utterly horrific for you OP. As pp has said, fingers crossed it is “just” a febrile convulsion - can be caused by underlying day to day infections as her temp might suggest. But I really shake my head that you or anyone else have faced this experience - should be shocking but increasingly it’s not.

VariantHela · 26/10/2023 20:37

Oh my goodness OP, sending you both all my love x

Hibernatalie · 26/10/2023 20:38

You did the right thing - my heart goes out to you. Please update us on how she is. Poor baby xx

Duddlepucklane · 26/10/2023 20:39

You've done the right thing op. I hope your daughter is okay 💐

Mumsgirls · 26/10/2023 20:40

Mine had febrile convulsions years ago, luckily in the days of an effective ambulance service. Grew out of them and all ok.
sending you sympathy, it was a terrifying time. Hope your little one is fine soon
