My daughter is 3. Possible infection. She's had a seizure and I'm waiting for an ambulance but I feel so so scared and so so alone. Please

You must be so relieved DD has responded and you are in the right place. You said you’re in West Yorkshire. If you are at LGI they’re great. I hope DD is soon much better and they are able to give you some answers. 💐

ArthurbellaScott · 26/10/2023 22:15

Oh gosh, OP. I'm so sorry you've had such a scary night. Hope your wee one is recovering and all better soon. xxx

WindUpBird · 26/10/2023 22:16

You poor thing. I completely know how you feel, I’ve been in that exact situation. Really hope you are reassured by all the medics and that your little girl feels much better very soon.

I welled up reading your update op. I can't imagine what you felt. So pleased. Xx

StickChildNumberTwo · 26/10/2023 22:18

I didn't see this earlier and am so relieved to come in at your latest update. I've been there and it's terrifying (and I didn't have to wait nearly that long for an ambulance - well done for taking it into your own hands and getting her there). My son was another one who had that one seizure, then one more that seemed less severe a few months later and hasn't had any since (they were round his second birthday, he's now nearly eight). I do hope the same is true for your daughter.

If you can, make sure you give yourself space over the next few days - you'll be wrung out and I imagine an emotional wreck. I wish I could just come and give you a big hug xxxx

Everydayiscake · 26/10/2023 22:19

I’m so glad you got her there and you have been seen. Always follow your gut. I hope she is ok and it’s due to infection and nothing more. I hope your ok too.

Mariposista · 26/10/2023 22:21

So so glad your kid is perking up.

But sorry - your friend ‘had to go?’ Shit friend there! Would love to hear the reason why. If my friend had been alone with an unconscious child, very few things would take priority over her needs.

Artistlookingforname · 26/10/2023 22:24

Oh OP I just read your post and literally have tears rolling down my eyes reading your update. I am so glad your little girl is okay. I can't imagine how scary it must have been xx

Mamma2017 · 26/10/2023 22:24

Ah I’m so relieved to hear she’s ok. That’s very scary for you OP your adrenaline must be through the roof! I hope you are ok and can get some rest xx

Differentstarts · 26/10/2023 22:24

It's absolutely terrifying that you can't rely on an ambulance to actually come in an emergency situation

Movingstresss · 26/10/2023 22:26

I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I read your update. Hope you are both doing okay. So glad you got her to the hospital x

Els1e · 26/10/2023 22:26

Good for you OP and just taking the initiative. Hope your little one feels better soon. Sending hug to you.

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 21:25

Anybody who has kids will understand when I say the relief I felt when her eyes were open and she smiled at me. Well I cried.

It's SO scary, I'd have cried too.

hopefully 'just' a febrile convulsion.

the first time I observed one I was 5 and my baby brother had one. The (formally dressed as they were in the 70's) ambulance men came thundering through our house, picked him up and threw him in a freezing cold bath (recommended treatment in those days, but not now!) I was so scared.

I've seen plenty subsequently, and once cooked down (gently) the kids have all been fine after, sleepy but fine.

hope it's the same for your DD
xx

common sense over 111 every time.

sassyduck · 26/10/2023 22:29

Bless you both. I'm glad you got that uber.

funbags3 · 26/10/2023 22:32

It's so frightening when that happens. They're usually a one-off and due to a virus.
Hope you're feeling better.

madamovaries · 26/10/2023 22:32

Just want to wish her and you the best and her a v v v swift recovery. I can’t imagine how scary that must have been.

Allthecatseverywhereallatonce · 26/10/2023 22:33

Hope your little one continues to improve. Good work op it is tough being a parent particularly when you are on your own. A mother's instinct should never be ignored.

Lemonandlime123 · 26/10/2023 22:33

This is terrifying, I can't believe it was such a long wait. So glad you got there and your daughter has come round.

Polecat07 · 26/10/2023 22:33

It's terrifying we're at the stage where it's a 4 hour wait for an ambulance for that kind of call out.

I was on a bus that hit a woman and we waited so, so long for an ambulance. Every second she lay in that road was agonising, I still think about it all the time.

So glad your little girl is being treated now OP. All the best to you both.

Topsyturvy78 · 26/10/2023 22:34

She's best sleeping it off. As long as she's breathing not been sick and no signs of further seizures. My daughter has had them since she was 6. A paramedic told me the exhaustion they feel after a grand Mal is equivalent to how someone feels after running a marathon. Hope she's okay.

Ramalangadingdong · 26/10/2023 22:35

LylaLee · 26/10/2023 21:54

Then you get the frivolous calls tying up the ambulances. I remember one case in the news about a decade ago. The guy wouldn't talk on the phone, gave an address, just mumbling 'emergency! Get here quick!' When the ambulance got there, he said he had run out of toilet roll.

He must have had mental health issues. Surely.

Notsuredontknow · 26/10/2023 22:37

I’ve just read this thread with my heart in my mouth. Well done on following your instincts OP, I’m so pleased to hear she’s come round. I hope you get good care at the hospital and that you have someone who can look after you too after such a terrible fright. Sending hugs x

Lifeisgood1 · 26/10/2023 22:39

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 21:08

We've been seen..pretty much as soon as we stepped thru. She's come round..she's very groggy but she gave me a smile. She's got iv fluids and waiting for some blood to be taken. I am so so grateful for the support I've received here

Good job mumma. Always trust those instincts ❤️
