Will you/did you request for your child to move out when they turn 18

And if not, will you request rent?

Thank you

No to the moving out, they are welcome to stay as long as they want and to come and go if needed.

When my eldest started work full time at 17 I asked for 10% of what he earned as a contribution to the household expenses. I put it away every month but didn’t tell him I was doing it. When he moved out to buy his own place at 25 I was able to give him back a substantial lump sum which covered half of his deposit. It met two goals - it got him used to budgeting and it gave him an easier start when he was ready to live independently. I still have two at home, one at Uni and one in 6th form. Both have small part time jobs but I don’t ask for any contribution and won’t until they are working full time, then I will manage it the same way as I did for my eldest.

No, no and thrive no. They will always be my children and this will always be their family home. They know that no matter what, they are always welcome here. Always x

Geeeeez. No, they can stay and study or find a job and contribute to rent but no they won't be turfed out. They can do their own washing though lol.
