Non-London People: How did you do on the London metro memory game?

Limth · 24/10/2023 16:37

If you haven't heard of it, it's here

I've never lived in London and haven't been there for over a decade. I got 25.7% which I was pretty happy with.

I've now set myself the challenge to better my score just a little bit each day.

London Tube Memory Game

How many of the London Tube stations can you name from memory?

@AngryBirdsNoMore Fenchurch Street is not part of London Overground, or indeed LU.

Ah. That’ll be it then.

Ah. That’ll be it then.

Thanks for the explanation. I blame Monopoly!

ricecakesareshit · 25/10/2023 13:39

This is so good! I started last night and keep going back.

BearSoFair · 25/10/2023 14:06

DS got us up to 58% before going out with friends but has texted me three more while he's out, unheard of levels of enthusiasm from a 14yr old boy 😂

Wow, I'm really quite proud of myself bringing this to your attention if that's the effect its had on a teenager!

Have finally got to 30%. I am now going to check a tube map.

AutumnCrow · 25/10/2023 16:00

I'm not cheating but I happen to come across a tube station name accidentally then I'm nabbing it!

Thanks for the Fenchurch Street explanation. I wasted ages on that.

OTOH when I added all the tube stations I used to get on and off at to visit boyfriends, girlfriends and friends over the decades, that was quite a long list.

slavetothekittens · 25/10/2023 16:03

There's been a few mentioned on here that I wouldn't have guessed, so thanks to that I'm up to 30% now. Hope

Also wondered why Fenchurch Street wasn't accepted😆

Wincarnis · 25/10/2023 16:12

I got up to 30% and then got stuck, my excuse is that I haven’t been to London for over 20 years and don’t live in the UK 😄

CesareBorgia · 25/10/2023 18:52

They should do one for other Metro networks, such as Manchester and Glasgow.

ILookAtTheFloor · 25/10/2023 19:22

I'm on 40%, over a decade since I was a Londoner!

It's easy to see where I'm from, the East is all filled in and the west and south are blank!

CesareBorgia · 25/10/2023 19:52

It would be interesting if they released data on what the most and least commonly remembered stations were, and also on which stations were most often named first. My first was 'Baker Street - I bet that's really common due to Sherlock Holmes and Gerry Rafferty!

Wrapunzel · 25/10/2023 21:53

I'm on 46.2% after an hour. Lived there >10 years but left a decade ago, still disappointed Blush

Even better if they told us which ones we missed!

deeplybaffled · 25/10/2023 22:50

I’ve never lived there but visited lots of widely scattered friends over the years. DH lived there for about 5 years, 20 years ago.
68.5% after much swearing, pondering and adding compass points to everything😂

still can’t remember for the life of me what comes before crossharbour, and must have been through it dozens of times as I had a friend in island gardens 😬

crackofdoom · 26/10/2023 00:07

Yeah *slavetothekittens , I'm sure Fenchurch Street has a tube station, no? Also, is there not a Mayfair tube station, or am I going mad? I'm also annoyed because I can't remember the name of the tube station in the centre of Hampstead....

EmmaEmerald · 26/10/2023 00:17

Fenchurch Street is a rail station and nit included here, though other railway stations are....

Mayfair doesn't have a Tube station but I might look up the history on that one.

my parents used to refer to Strand station which I thought was an error, but it did exist.

EmmaEmerald · 26/10/2023 00:26

Ah..used to be a Down Street station on the outskirts of Mayfair

KoalaKube · 26/10/2023 02:38

Got to 39% wanted to round it off but map went squiffy. Does it save ? I’m finding the new lines and outlying areas really difficult, got most of central London though. Good fun.

CroccyWoccy · 26/10/2023 06:10

I’m a bit stuck at 35% - lived in London for most of my life so I’m a bit ashamed I can’t do better than that, but I live in south east London and rarely travel by tube!

Umph · 26/10/2023 07:18

I’m on 12% and struggling but got to stop now as I’ll be seriously late for work 😂

I don’t and never have lived in London but live in the South East so do visit sporadically and know my way around! DH is from Wiltshire and he might as well be on Mars when we get off the train at Victoria!

BendingSpoons · 26/10/2023 07:30

I'm at 54% with most of central London done. I used to live in London but don't know most of the outer lines. I think I would have done better if I had done it pre Elizabeth line too.

TeenDivided · 26/10/2023 07:37

Why does it go as far west as Reading but then the South East of London doesn't seem to be covered at all?

AutumnCrow · 26/10/2023 08:18

I've managed to limp to just over 44%. Two days that's taken me!

BendingSpoons · 26/10/2023 08:32

TeenDivided · 26/10/2023 07:37

Why does it go as far west as Reading but then the South East of London doesn't seem to be covered at all?

It is the lines managed by TfL, so included on their maps. Most of the South London trains are separate.
