Non-London People: How did you do on the London metro memory game?

Limth · 24/10/2023 16:37

If you haven't heard of it, it's here

I've never lived in London and haven't been there for over a decade. I got 25.7% which I was pretty happy with.

I've now set myself the challenge to better my score just a little bit each day.

London Tube Memory Game

How many of the London Tube stations can you name from memory?

OP posts:
RubyGemStone · 24/10/2023 21:23

Finally, a quiz I can do. 67.8% BUT I am a lifelong Londoner and have been navigating the tube alone since primary school.

Also doing various courses in some of the far corners, have lots of family in the depths of south London and currently using the DLR about 3 times a week.

Took DH & I about 8 attempts to get Kings Cross accurately and he goes there every bloody day!

mamaduckbone · 24/10/2023 21:23

21% with Dh - we've not lived in London for 19 years.
I could still remember the whole of the Piccadilly Line from Cockfosters to Finsbury Park where I used to live.

EmmaEmerald · 24/10/2023 21:32

Lifelong Londoner, technically left six months ago and have avoided public transport for as long as I could

hit 70% and giving up now. My sister still lives there and never drove so
i reckon she'll do really well.

it's the DLR and the Piccy and Jubilee that I don't know at all.

is there a way to see the ones you missed?

thanks so much OP! Took my mind off stuff.

btw if you're sure you're right, try again...it refused to accept a couple of answers but when i put them in again, they registered.

Retrievemysanity · 24/10/2023 21:32

20.9% here. I go to London to visit my best friend one or two times a year and most of the stops I knew were on the lines from Euston to where she has lived over the years. Also remembered a few from when another friend ran the london marathon 20 years ago! Fun game, thanks OP!

LlynTegid · 24/10/2023 21:44

Live in London, got 94.1%, could not get all the DLR and London Overground stations, some on the Met Line and bits of the Central and District line.

What! That’s pretty amazing.

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 22:19

Met my match as 40.7%... I think that's absolutely all I can remember!

slavetothekittens · 24/10/2023 22:22

28.4% and I really can't think of any more.

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 22:24

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 20:50

I think so, just got the last one!

There are six!!

MaggieFS · 24/10/2023 22:25

Ex-London person. I've got to 59% covering off all of the areas I used to visit.

Huge swathes I know nothing about, but I think including the DLR and Overground isn't fair because they aren't on the maps you get on the carriages to stare at (or they weren't in my day!).

Shiloh139 · 24/10/2023 22:35

Thanks for sharing the game OP. DH and I lived in London for about 18 months nearly 20 years ago and have visited very occasionally since. We've just done it separately and got 32% approx each, I was just 0.2% ahead. It had us really searching our memories for well over an hour. I can't believe how much of the DLR line I've forgotten.

crackofdoom · 24/10/2023 22:40

45.2%- I lived in London for 10 years 20 years ago. Can't believe I forgot Finsbury Park though!🤦‍♀️
That massive overground network in S. London is unknown territory to me.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 24/10/2023 22:41

Currently on 29%, not too bad for someone who has never lived in London. It is a good quiz!

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 22:47

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 22:24

There are six!!

SEVEN

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 23:01

Anyone know why I can't get it to accept the Heathrow stops?

RubyGemStone · 24/10/2023 23:13

@Howtosolveit You need to say Heathrow Terminal 5 and Heathrow Terminal 2,3 & 4

It's very annoying and took me ages!

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 23:15

@RubyGemStone thank you! You just saved me a lot more irritation Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 24/10/2023 23:18

Thanks a bunch OP you have entirely wasted mine sbd DP’s evening with this! 😂

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 23:19

Howtosolveit · 24/10/2023 22:24

There are six!!

Yes you're right, 6 Actons and also there are 5 Ealings. Took a while to remember the last one of each of those but got there in the end.

HawthornLantern · 24/10/2023 23:28

Having enormous fun. If I make it to 50% I’ll be very happy. Very unsure this will happen. Deeply impressed by the 94%

xyzandabc · 24/10/2023 23:40

Oh jeepers, that's 3 hours gone!
36.1% on my own, 32.5% for DH
Combined 50% bang on. Only cos we wouldn't give up until we got to 50%!
Only lived in London as students and haven't lived there for 20 years but still visit occasionally.

Ketzele · 24/10/2023 23:43

49% but am grinding to a halt. I am a lifelong Londoner and I don't drive, so should be doing better than this!

OutOfSyncWithReality · 24/10/2023 23:52

I was hoping for another Look for Longer - loved that game!

Me too!

MummyInTheNecropolis · 24/10/2023 23:59

28.6% and I’ve lived in London my whole life 🙈🤦‍♀️

GreenCereal · 25/10/2023 00:01

DD picked up a card game called Mind The Gap at the Westminster Abbey gift shop, so we've been working on learning the stations through that. Obviously hasn't worked as I'm stuck on 22%!
