Non-London People: How did you do on the London metro memory game?

Limth · 24/10/2023 16:37

If you haven't heard of it, it's here

I've never lived in London and haven't been there for over a decade. I got 25.7% which I was pretty happy with.

I've now set myself the challenge to better my score just a little bit each day.

London Tube Memory Game

How many of the London Tube stations can you name from memory?

I got bored and gave up at 65%

maximist · 24/10/2023 19:53

I've never lived in London but have visited quite a few times, and got 25% after about two hours of concentrated thought. I didn't actually miss that many that I knew, but I did kick myself a few times when I looked at the tube map afterwards....

AngeloMysterioso · 24/10/2023 20:00

I’ve done about 20ish minutes and I’m at 45.7%. Got most of zone 1 done.

Chersfrozenface · 24/10/2023 20:04

20%. I don't live in London but visit 3 or 4 times a year.

Couldn't remember a lot of the stations I go through, but don't get off at, on semi-regular journeys - obviously on autopilot!

AngryBirdsNoMore · 24/10/2023 20:11

40%. I live in London…

Clueless about the Elizabeth line - I had no idea it went out so far!

Cuthbertsrevenge · 24/10/2023 20:21

There’s a third Ealing but I won’t give it away for anyone who’s currently still playing…

Gosh really? Impressive

DrRichardWebber · 24/10/2023 20:21

25% and I’ve lived in London for 12 years! Mortified at my poor knowledge!

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 20:22

34.7% and last lived in London 20 years ago!! Bit embarrassed as I worked for TfL. Might get a few more as there's some that are on the tip of my tongue. Makes me realise that there's so many parts of London we just didn't really go to but have got most of our commuter stations.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 24/10/2023 20:24

DLR has so many stations and a lot of them have whacky names - can barely remember any!

im keeping it open and not checking the actual map to see if inspiration strikes to help me get over 50%…

great game OP!

And many, many Acton stations!!

AngryBirdsNoMore · 24/10/2023 20:35

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 20:26

And many, many Acton stations!!

Third? There are about five aren’t there?!

Glittertwins · 24/10/2023 20:41

I was in London today so racking my brain trying to think of the stations I passed through. Haven't been on the tube in a while and the Elizabeth line stations are a mystery.

I think so, just got the last one!

Limth · 24/10/2023 20:50

My favourite station name is Chalk Farm - sounds so incredibly quaint and quiet which makes me smile given its location 😃

Icedlatteplease · 24/10/2023 17:30

The station is King's Cross St pancras

THANK YOU!!

Kings Cross was driving me mad, I was even looking up the fire because I thought I was going mad and still couldn’t get it right.

With that and a few more I’m up to 15.5%

MurielThrockmorton · 24/10/2023 20:54

I don't know when to give up and look! There are definitely some more in my brain somewhere, I'm on 56% but there were some stations I haven't got that I used to go through regularly, even if it was 30 years ago.

I like Island Gardens and Cyprus (both on the DLR) - the reality is not quite as exotic as the names might suggest!

Mudchute is a bit more accurate!

Atethehalloweenchocs · 24/10/2023 20:56

I got 14% but actively try to avoid tube stations and take buses instead when I am in London. And have not lived there for 20 years. They are coming back to me - I can foresee days and days of suddenly remembering them.

LolaSmiles · 24/10/2023 20:57

24.7%, have never lived in London and last visited London more than 5 years ago. I'm pleasantly surprised that pub quiz trivia scores that well.

Papyrophile · 24/10/2023 20:57

It's 30+ years since I lived in London and I'm struggling to remember the naice areas where I aspired to buy property between Hammersmith and Earls Court, that wasn't dismal Barons Count, and the spooky station before you get off for all the museums. Embarrassingly, I can't recall most of the stations I didn't get off at, but I've reconstructed about 32% of London. They have built Crossrail and the Elizabeth Line since I lived in London too. I got 187 stations...

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 21:00

Husband is playing it now.... got a feeling I might wake in the night with some more.

JustAnotherCheeseburger · 24/10/2023 21:03

Also don't know the Elizabeth Line (or East London Line, the orange one??). It was shut when we lived in London as it was being extended.

So many DLR stations must have Quay in the name but I can't remember any! I think the DLR stations have lots of random names too

IvorTheEngineDriver · 24/10/2023 21:06

44%. Londoner born and bred but left before the DLR was built and all the Overground stations were British Rail! Great fun! Thanks OP.

ProvisionsOnTheDock · 24/10/2023 21:08

I'm on 20%. It's so long since I've been to London that I was baffled about why it wasn't accepting Oxford Street and Piccadilly as I knew there were tube stations there...!
