Dud you know the Olympics are in Paris next year?

I've got tickets and am madly excited, was commenting to a friend about an issue wrt transport - she knows I am a massive athletics fan.

She said, oh, is there something big in Paris next summer? I was a bit 😮and asked if she was joking, but she also asked a couple of other ppl and they also had no idea.

So, pretty lighthearted really, obv not life or death, more of a straw poll of Sunday MN - did you know? It's a mahooosive deal in my house and also a lot of my circle- but then a number of those people are big on athletics like me.

Yes have tickets and just booked a very overpriced hotel, hopefully sans bedbugs.

Well @Fireisland I clearly don't think that! or it would have been easier to get tickets!!

I'm the other way - I assumed everyone would know as it is so near UK etc and was surprised that ppl didn't know

Yes! We've decided it's just too much money etc to try and go, but it will be incredibly exciting. Have a wonderful time.

Yes. That is why they are so concerned about the bed bugs as they think it will stop people going there.

Yes and also have tickets. It's so close just going for a weekend - and have also just booked hotel.

I'd sort of forgotten about it until I was looking for transport and accommodation in France next year and got at shock at the prices!

Yh the bedbugs worry is odd in a way as if you have tickets, you're still gonna go I reckon. Tho obv hoping for a bedbug-free experience!

I didn't know but I'm not into sport so never read any sports related stories and switch the news over when the sports section comes on

Obviously I knew, but I'd completely forgotten about it until the bed bug issue came up.

they are dreadful things, a complete nightmare to get rid of.

i don't fancy it.

Fair enough those who aren't engaged in sport tbh. I guess it shows that if you are very engaged in sthg, everyone else isn't eh!

Yes, I have athletics tickets but no travel or accommodation booked yet! Will be going to the London meet a few weekends before also. It probably will be like in London 2012 and 2017 when people are really surprised and ask how on earth we managed to get tickets
...because we knew and signed up for the initial ticket sales!!!
