If you've been ditched by a best friend how long did it take to get over it?

My best friend of 30 years 'dumped' me 6 months ago. Nothing I'd done wrong, she'd just out grown the friendship but she cut all contact before I could even reply. It was absolutely brutal and I'm still reeling from it. I cant believe I'll never see her again.

If anyone's been through similar, how long did it take you to feel normal again? I get waves of sadness and anger and I wish I could just switch it off.

I've got a full, busy life and other people more deserving of my love/time/energy. I'm trying to focus on that but it's so difficult.

In Covid my best friend of almost 40 years decided that she would ghost me as I hadn’t been paying enough attention to her conspiracy theories and was going along with the rules. She gave her reasons as she couldn’t bear to stand by and see me get hurt. I got married in 2021 and she was supposed to be my MOH. I had to demote her to bridesmaid and bring my other friend in who was also bridesmaid as she was there for me through everything and my best friend didn’t even come to get my dress. And I was no bridezilla! In fact loads of people said cut her out of the whole thing but I didn’t and now she’s in my wedding pictures! We did try to make up at the wedding but afterwards she went back to the same thing and I never stopped worrying about her, wishing I could’ve done more but honestly wedding aside she was really awful to me so I couldn’t take it any more.
I put a lot into that friendship as we were friends from school and my dad never really liked her so we clashed about her. I was really loyal and even now I can see on Facebook she writes things about the idiots who doubted me etc so I know there’s no way I can go back.
im sorry you’re going through this. At least I had a reason of sorts for it all but it hurts. In fact more recently I made a friend in Covid and we were close for a couple of years. She lived near me and sort of love bombed me. She moved and I made an effort to keep things going but she just drifted away. She apologised for not being a good friend but never made any plans so I had to let it slide as well! ☹️
