Tescos 'removed from our range' and loads out of stock

What's going on with Tescos??

7 of my favourites list removed from their range, most no viable substitutes, are supermarkets trying to reduce things to a kind of a stripped back homogenous lump noticed this gradually happen with Sainsburys which is why we switched to Tescos! Plus absolutly loads of stuff out of stock, loads of fruit and veg and meat we normally buy, I reckon about 20% of my favourites list is out of stock

For info removed from range;

Tesco own Belgian Buns
Barenaked Rice
Minor figures milk -we buy 2 types, whole range gone
Arla Oat milk (my go to if above out of stock)
The whole John Ross range of salmon
Organic salmon fillets
Ripe and ready pears
Ecover Bio

In Scotland btw

Also Scotland. I did a Tesco order today and there was an unbelievable amount of stuff "out of stock" and "not available". And by the time I got to the checkout, a whole lot more of the items I would usually buy were 'no longer available ". I reckon around 25% of the things I wanted to buy, I couldn't. And it was nothing outrageous just things like green beans, beetroot salad, loose pears, British apples...

RomaniIteDomum · 02/10/2023 17:04

Their own brand equivalent of Skips are gone too.

Yes I can have regular Skips but they're not quite the same

NumberFortyNorhamGardens · 02/10/2023 17:04

Not just you, and not just Tesco. I’ve increasingly had to buy several of our more niche items whenever I see them as they keep getting pulled, or stocked less frequently. My bugbears are Gia garlic puree (suddenly back in Asda after months off the shelves), Sanex Zero Sensitive shower gel (white bottle, pink strapline, no smell whatsoever), Geo. Watkins mushroom ketchup (veggie alternative to Worcester sauce) and Dove sensitive cleansing bar (see Sanex above). My brand of athlete’s foot spray is also erratically stocked and increasingly expensive.

My only suggestion is to check online.

Sometimes they do this when they are having a re brand or a face lift or the products if u will.

TheSproutOfWrath · 02/10/2023 17:05

Same with Asdas online. Also Scotland. Lots of things unavailable or just gone. It's so annoying 🙄

nutellacrepe · 02/10/2023 17:14

Brexit.

TheBitterBoy · 02/10/2023 17:16

Same with Sainsburys, last week I did a shop online from my favourites list and I reckon a good 10% was unavailable. It's only going to get worse when the actual brexit border checks come into force next year.

renovationheavenandhell · 02/10/2023 17:18

@Bananas1350 yes I'd sort of clocked that does happen occ, but this is literally 7 - actually 8 on finalising, sanex hand soap also removed from range, in the space of the 10 days since I last did my shop, just seems like a lot all at once, we switched over 8 months ago and I looked back at Sainsburys a few weeks ago and none of it has come back - although on a holiday to England during the summer I noticed they seemed to have a much better range of own and branded items than we do up here - weird!

@nutellacrepe I know a few people personally who voted brexit, don't see them a lot but I find it hard to be civil to them if I'm being honest. what a mess.

Butterkist8 · 02/10/2023 17:24

All types of mushrooms were removed from the list. As were pastries and most Tena products.
It's getting increasingly harder to complete my mum's order as the weeks go by.

nutellacrepe · 02/10/2023 17:24

@renovationheavenandhell Sadly we are where we are. People were misinformed and lied to and I can't hold their gullibility against them. The government are truly the ones to blame.

MuffinWalloper · 02/10/2023 17:26

No tomatoes here. Or 3kg bags of pasta. And they've shrunk the size of some stuff so it comes up as not in stock - it is in stock, but in a smaller, more expensive packet.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 02/10/2023 17:27

I'm in the south of England and have noticed exactly the same thing OP.
Much of my usual list was 'unavailable' or no longer stocked!

I have seen a few items disappear since Brexit but this seems to be a sudden change of direction.

Topseyt123 · 02/10/2023 17:28

Brexshit. Project fear is now project reality.

Seasidegrandma · 02/10/2023 17:28

Taylor's of Harrogate ground coffee became scarce and then it returned with 'New' on the shelf label.
The only trying new about it was it had increased in price by 75p and the size has been reduced from 227g to 200g

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 02/10/2023 17:30

Same with Asda! Always out of stock

Substitutes are rubbish these days as well

Brexit.

Exactly. One of our many Brexit 'benefits'..

That sanex discontinued as it changed packaging. Its back re packed now.

Lonelycrab · 02/10/2023 17:34

Yep, these are your brexy chickens coming home to roost. Less of everything, and lower quality when you do find it.

Blimey these uplands are sunlit!

pastypirate · 02/10/2023 17:36

Nearly all the supers except aldi and lidl have pulled their own brand pop in tins.

Redglitter · 02/10/2023 17:36

They seem to be rebranding things. I found a load of stuff 'no longer available' but rather bizarrely when I actually searched for it - it was there. Most with a slight tweak to the packaging or (& most tellingly) the package size

These for instance

Tescos 'removed from our range' and loads out of stock

Awumminnscotland · 02/10/2023 17:38

Yes. Lots of items disappearing then reappearing but smaller and more expensive. I've started trying Morrisons as at least they have 'savers' items although not many. Variety seems to be better maybe, not sure. Some things more expensive but there are at least choices for cheaper alternatives. Tesco is really really awful just now.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 02/10/2023 17:52

Most of the supermarkets are reducing their ranges to compete with Aldi and Lidle.

I am in the SE and have only noticed that Tescos have not had the baby plum tomatoes for the last couple of weeks, but they have had alternatives.

piginapot · 02/10/2023 17:55

In ours they got rid of the Tesco's own £1.20 rinse aid leaving people having to buy the finish one at about £2.80 (they have it in other stores just taken it out of ours!)

Their own cereal bars and caramel rice cakes have also gone, leaving only the more expensive branded ones. So annoying.

RedAndWhiteCarnations · 02/10/2023 17:59

I’ve noticed they are removing items on the higher end of tte scale/more expensive.
So you can’t find macadamia nuts, pine nuts only available in the smaller packets etc…

Rebranding in smaller packets has been happening for ages.
I can understand then stopping some products if they can’t sell them. But the range if things you can buy is getting smaller and smaller. And I usually buy basics (apart from the nuts 😁)
