Would you still test if you had a feeling you may have covid

Whats the general view of this these days

Yes, of course. Or just keep away from people but if you know it's not covid it's easier to go based on your symptoms (eg if you have a horrid cold don't go spreading that either). If you do have covid and you can avoid spreading it it's definitely worthwhile - I know people who are dealing with long covid from catching it a few months ago, it's affecting their job, health, everything.

Madamwahselle · 28/09/2023 09:56

Nope

AwfulM · 28/09/2023 09:56

No

Blueey · 28/09/2023 09:57

No.

DwightShrute · 28/09/2023 09:57

Yes, I work in a special school and we aren't allowed in for 5 days if we test positive.

DinnaeFashYersel · 28/09/2023 09:58

No I haven't tested for a very long time.

If I feel unwell I go to bed and rest.

BodenCardiganNot · 28/09/2023 09:59

Yes. Don't want to infect other people if I can avoid doing so.

nether · 28/09/2023 10:00

Yes

I know you don't have to, but there are people in my family potentially eligible for advanced covid treatments and so it does make a difference to know (not that I'm convinced LFTs are reliable enough against current variants, but it's the best we've got)

millerpie · 28/09/2023 10:05

I did in June, I hadn’t had covid before but I knew it wasn’t ‘just a cold’ and I had a box of tests in. I stayed home because I couldn’t physically get out of bed, I didn’t test again to see if it was negative before going out but left it a long time before seeing my grandparents.

Catsmere · 28/09/2023 10:08

Would and did when I got my first cold in years, back in June. I live with my 90yo mother, I don't want to give it to her (or anyone else).

DiaNaranja · 28/09/2023 10:09

Yes. Mainly out of intrigue, as I've never tested positive for it, and to my knowledge have never had it, so if I do get poorly, I test as I wonder if I've finally got it!

Quarantino · 28/09/2023 10:10

I have a family member going through chemo, she feels fine but has to restrict going out because of the number of people that will still go out with covid symptoms.

Booksbooksbooksandmorebooks · 28/09/2023 10:10

Yes of course. Currently in bed with covid. I feel terrible...I work with the public...I dont want to spread it further

N4ish · 28/09/2023 10:11

No. Unless I was going to visit someone vulnerable in hospital or a care home.

PerfectMatch · 28/09/2023 10:11

We have some tests left in the cupboard so I might do one out of interest.

Throughabushbackwards · 28/09/2023 10:12

I'm quite sure I have Covid, for the 5th time, and I've tested negative every day this week 🤷‍♀️

IkeaMeatballGravy · 28/09/2023 10:15

Not since I ran out of free tests. I wouldn't go to the shop and buy tests for flu, colds etc so I won't for Covid. I wouldn't visit a hospital, vulnerable person, new baby etc with any kind of illness. Work is a different matter, if I am able to work, I have to be in, covid or not.

WhatsForTeaMama · 28/09/2023 10:16

Yes but only because we still have two boxes of tests left over. I wouldn't be spending money on tests.

MinnieMouse0 · 28/09/2023 10:18

Yes I tested.

Berninaa · 28/09/2023 10:18

Me too @Booksbooksbooksandmorebooks .

ElectiveAffinities · 28/09/2023 10:18

Yes, of course I would, and I have done very recently. I’ve also bought a couple of boxes of tests so I have them on hand. It’s making a resurgence and the latest variant is very nasty. It’s not ‘just a cold’.

PinkRoses1245 · 28/09/2023 10:19

No. Haven’t tested for over 2 years. If I was ill I’d stay at home because I was ill.

SauvignonBlanche · 28/09/2023 10:24

Yes

Have just tested positive and feel awful.

DH is still entitled to free tests, I saw it’s £2 for a single LFT in shops.

People aren’t going to pay that, few people are testing and more people are spreading.

Ceit · 28/09/2023 10:26

Yes. I tested recently when I had symptoms and I was positive. But- I had tests because I was still on a vulnerable list after cancer treatment. Not sure I'd have done it if I'd had to buy a test. In any case I felt too ill to go out, so it was almost irrelevant.

Willow12345 · 28/09/2023 10:36

Of course.
I don't want to put people at risk. Plus I work in a school with some vulnerable staff and pupils.
Currently on day 6 of covid and won't be mixing until I test negative.
