Whats the general view of this these days

OP posts:
TooOldForThisNonsense · 28/09/2023 16:31

No

Overthebow · 28/09/2023 16:32

No, I’m not eligible for free tests and wouldn’t pay for them. It also wouldn’t change my behaviour if I knew I had it, I treat covid symptoms like all others, if I’m too ill to go out I stay in, otherwise I go about my usual day. I wouldn’t visit elderly family or go to a hospital if I was unwell anyway. I can’t stay in because of every little cold though, my dd is in nursery and there is usually one of us with cold symptoms throughout winter, we’d never go out if we stayed in every time someone had a mild cold or cough!

Parker231 · 28/09/2023 14:45

Agree - why on earth wouldn’t everyone want to protect everyone else. Some people are incredibly stupid and selfish!

I’d stay home to avoid people if ill

no need to test.

the vast vast majority of people who were vulnerable pre vaccines no longer are at the same risk anyway

caringcarer · 28/09/2023 16:34

Yes I would.

Berlinlover · 28/09/2023 16:38

No

tigger1001 · 28/09/2023 16:39

No.

If I'm ill I will stay at home.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2023 16:40

I'm a nurse, we have to work if well enough.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 28/09/2023 16:40

Why do people still keep going on about “protecting the vulnerable”? Everyone knows someone who is old, unwell etc but other than a tiny minority now “the vulnerable” as in the 2020 ECV cohort are no longer at anywhere near the pre vaccine risk

EVHead · 28/09/2023 16:40

Yes - my elderly mum has not had it and despite her having had all of the vaccinations and boosters I would stay away from her until I tested negative.

jazzyfips · 28/09/2023 16:41

No as I’ve no test kits

Beezknees · 28/09/2023 16:48

No.

dkdkjf · 28/09/2023 17:00

No.

oistopthatyoucheekysnail · 28/09/2023 17:05

No, it wouldn't cross my mind in any event and I wouldn't pay for tests.

Shadypaws23 · 28/09/2023 17:08

Yes because I would take antivirals
My workplace doesn't want anyone in with covid and will give us tests if we ask. We can WFH or be off sick on full pay if too unwell

letstrythatagain · 28/09/2023 17:08

@Parker231 but I still have to go to work? What would you like me to do? You can go cover for me if you like? 💁‍♀️

JaneJeffer · 28/09/2023 17:09

🤦🏻

I didn't realise this!

dkdkjf · 28/09/2023 17:15

@Shadypaws23 what kind of antivirals? When I was in the US we were given Tamiflu for flu which was magic, I assume that was a kind of antiviral, but don't ever see flu treated in that way routinely here?

How many are you talking about exactly?

SilverGlitterBaubles · 28/09/2023 17:24

DD tested positive after some mild symptoms and was told to come to work (retail) as she was well enough. She felt under pressure but said she felt guilty dealing with customers who were none the wiser. DH and I are now both ill but we have not tested because a) we have no tests left and I don't have the energy to go and buy some b) I know exactly what we have and we are too ill to work or see anyone anyway

I "protect everyone else" by not being in contact with people when I'm ill. I don't need to stick a swab up my nose for that.

Given many people have had it with no symptoms, unless you are testing regularly you have no idea whether you have it. I assume you are always wearing a quality mask when you go out

I had paxlovid when I had covid before

Polkadotpjs · 28/09/2023 17:34

DiaNaranja · 28/09/2023 10:09

Yes. Mainly out of intrigue, as I've never tested positive for it, and to my knowledge have never had it, so if I do get poorly, I test as I wonder if I've finally got it!

Same and what do you know, my holiday virus was indeed covid though the fact it floored me kind of indicated that way anyway but I wouldn't have wanted to pass it on

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 28/09/2023 17:34

Yes - but I actually like knowing what's wrong with me if I'm unwell. I have tests bought from Amazon.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/09/2023 17:36

Yes, DM is a cancer patient.
