Yes. Don't want to infect other people if I can avoid doing so.

Agree - why on earth wouldn’t everyone want to protect everyone else. Some people are incredibly stupid and selfish!

MrsKeats · 28/09/2023 14:46

I did as my mum is vulnerable.

MrsKeats · 28/09/2023 14:49

Agreed parker

SnapdragonToadflax · 28/09/2023 14:52

Yes, I still test. Most of my friends seem to, judging by the number of positive tests I've seen on social media recently. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford the tests, I find it interesting to know, and I wouldn't want to give it to my parents or in-laws who are in their late 70s.

I don't test if I have a cold. But if I were in bed with a fever and aches and felt generally shit, I would.

Whitewolf2 · 28/09/2023 15:08

No and I don’t know many who do now.
I have young kids who are constantly bringing colds home.
If I’m ill I stay home though and I don’t come into contact with anyone vulnerable.

letstrythatagain · 28/09/2023 15:12

I don't but mainly because I don't see the point now as I still have to go into work regardless. Wouldn't do anything differently even if I tested positive

Thinkbiglittleone · 28/09/2023 15:19

We have had a few cases in work where staff have not turned in due to Covid.

Pleaseme · 28/09/2023 15:21

No but I did test when I worked with a vulnerable group. Honestly with all the school strikes etc I would drag myself into work unless it was a hospital job.

It’s not all about you. Although the number of Covid deaths are very low, the numbers of young healthy people ill enough to be off sick from work is increasing.
You’d be complaining quick enough if your DC’s class is sent home if the teachers are off ill.,

SoupDragon · 28/09/2023 15:24

Houseplanter · 28/09/2023 14:37

No because it would make difference to how I behave

If I'm unwell I stay away from others and rest. Like I've always done. I don't need to know precisely what bacteria or virus I have.

This.

I wouldn't bother as I don't have the need to know whether it's Covid or not. If I'm ill, I'm ill and would behave accordingly.

Hiddenmnetter · 28/09/2023 16:09

@Parker231 by that logic do you also isolate if you have influenza? Or a rhinovirus? They can be equally virulent and for CEV quite often as deadly.

HoneyBadgerMom · 28/09/2023 16:11

No, BUT I'm not around anyone in a high risk category. If I worked in a nursing home or a hospital where I'm around vulnerable people, yeah, I would test.

frumpalertt · 28/09/2023 16:11

Yes, absolutely, and I would also quietly judge someone who didn't. Because I have family and friends who are vulnerable and we can all help one another out by trying to keep infection rates down.

Spudlet · 28/09/2023 16:11

I would. I work in close contact with people and I never know who’s vulnerable so I would generally
do a test if I started to have suspicions.

User19537876 · 28/09/2023 16:13

No because I would have to buy a test and you don't need to

Houseplanter · 28/09/2023 16:14

Spudlet · 28/09/2023 16:11

But if they're vulnerable to Covid, they're vulnerable to every respiratory infection (as well as others). Why do you need to know it's Covid?

User19537876 · 28/09/2023 16:15

Vulnerable people are often vulnerable to loads of illnesses, I worked with someone who mainly worked at home because of this, this was long before Covid.

mydogspooeybum · 28/09/2023 16:16

No

BarelyCoping123 · 28/09/2023 16:18

I tested last week when i got ill

RampantIvy · 28/09/2023 16:19

It depends. When I developed a cold just before a dental appointment I tested positive. The dental surgery was very pleased that I did test and let them know. I would also test if I had a GP or hospital appointment, or if I had to be at the office for an important meeting.

muddyford · 28/09/2023 16:20

No.

Spudlet · 28/09/2023 16:22

Because people like to know. I run my own business and small things like this help to reassure my
clients. That ok with you?

FinallyHere · 28/09/2023 16:24

I see that I am in a very privileged position. If I felt unwell, I would stay at home, WFH is now normalised for us, so if I were well enough to WFH, I would and otherwise be off I'll on full pay (for up to six months or moved into long term sick)

In these circumstances I would test if unwell or having been in contact with anyone testing positive.

There would be negative consequences for me. I am sorry that not everyone is in the same happy position.

pennyfest · 28/09/2023 16:26

Yes because I spend time with my elderly grandparents, and my parents who both have health issues that would make them extra vulnerable.

DynamicK · 28/09/2023 16:30

No.
If I feel unwell, I'll take a day off sick.
Even if I have a cold, I avoid going to my places with vulnerable people and certainly wouldn't meet up with elderly.
