I work at a local primary school where I know a few parents who are dinner ladys i keep noticing they wear their uniform when dropping their own kids off and then they go home and then come back at lunchtime. Do you feel this is appropriate. Im not sure whether to mention it to our head

OP posts:

The mummies come a flocking
The yummy ones the most
To praise me on my wedges
And my Wednesday veggie roast

I'm a dinner lady
My uniform is a rocking
My chicken and wine even has real coq in

I'm a dinner lady
My livin is just fine
Don't like it lady, then you won't be asked to dine.

Heck, there are some real knobs on this thread! Let's all gang up on the OP, AIBU is that way for bitchiness and general stupidity.👉
Bitch about me now I'm done with my bit, having only read the first page of drivel.

......and she's never coming back 🤣🤣🤣

😅🤣😅 Don't believe it for a second. Very happy to recieve it my arse. Did he do a little jig of joy?

Does your school not allow bus drivers or postmen in the school yard wearing uniform either?

Don't be so ridiculous. None of them are handling or prepping food.

In your attempt to be sarcastic towards the OP, you've only managed to make yourself look silly.

The irony! We're saying we don't like the OP being bitchy and bullying and ganging up on a minimum wage worker who is doing what everyone else does. Yet according to you, we're the bad guys for calling out a bully.

Why is this inappropriate?

Christ almighty wearing your uniform to work for a kitchen is a no no and disgusting all I can think of is all the cross contamination going on and I own a kitchen and my staff are not allowed to be in theirs till shift, we have lockers for that.

nurses were they not told to not wear their uniforms to and from work because of covid?

100%!!

I can't believe the levels of bullying some posters have stooped to to make the OP look stupid! Some of you clearly belong in the playground... Horrible, hateful pile-on here!

OK I don't get the comment about showing off in their uniforms - but THE OP IS CORRECT re hygiene, and some of you should be utterly ashamed of how you have literally bullied this poster! I bet your kids are a delight!!

Willmafrockfit · 26/09/2023 18:04

its only food
i worked in a kitchen and you didnt change once you got to work - unlike nurses
obviously wearing them without going to work for some hours is odd

Willmafrockfit · 26/09/2023 18:05

nurses cannot wear their uniforms outside of work is nothing to do with covid, it is to do with insurance

See if you can get them sacked.

I work in a care home and we are strictly forbidden to come to work or go home in uniform. Most hospital staff are the same. It is completely inappropriate and they should change into uniform when they get to work. In fact I'm surprised they don't have 2 lots of uniform one for dealing with food and another for the rest of the time. Frankly it's a little lazy and raises the risk of cross contamination. They could be changing babies nappies or scrubbing the loo before coming to work!

Well In a care home you would be wearing a plastic apron, when dealing with residents. We have tabards to wear when serving meals to residents.

Dinnerlady12 · 26/09/2023 18:06

Our uniform is a tunic and trousers similar to what nurses etc wear. A trilby hat with a hair net and safety shoes. Latex gloves worn when prepping or serving food. When the area managers come round to check everything is as if should be they walk around in their normal clothes and shoes with no hat🤷🏻‍♀️

Fallingthroughclouds · 26/09/2023 18:06

I lived with some nurses at uni. Sometimes their uniforms didn't even get washed 😳. I know, I know hard to believe in a scuzzy student house full of party loving 19 year olds.

Orangewinegum8481 · 26/09/2023 18:07

Is that all you have to worry about? Why don't you just mind your own business and worry about yourself.

Yes, you are.

The OP is not being a bitch or bullying and is probably also on min wage.

She has albeit clumsily identified how some staff aren't following the rules - which are there for a reason.

While most of us probably wouldn't bother to report it - and the kitchen supervisor should be all over this without anyone having to report! - the OP is actually correct.

I think she's due an apology for some of those horrible posts but doubt very much any of you will have the humility to admit that you are wrong!!

Willmafrockfit · 26/09/2023 18:08

in the community as a carer you just wear your uniform all day, no getting changed,
a plastic apron if necessary

Willmafrockfit · 26/09/2023 18:09

nurses have no lockers to get changed in

Do you know what's dull? Defending a nosey, curtain twitching, nothing better to do Jobsworth who has went out of her way to report someone for "showing off" in a dinner lady uniform. In fact, that's actually duller than the OP herself, at least she had the decency to flounce when she realised what a twat she was.

I completely understand not bringing outside germs on when you’re opening a body up, but I’m pretty sure our dinner ladies chain smoked whilst serving our baked bean rounders and we turned out fine

Are you sure you did?
