I mean it was lovely but I always come away thinking I can make bigger and better myself. I want to be stuffed full 😀

I paid £25 for one similar, less veg last week.

It wasn't even that nice tbh.

headcheffer · 24/09/2023 13:02

That looks yum! £17?

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 13:03

No brown sauce even☹️

Hiphopopotamonster · 24/09/2023 13:03

20? It’s a decent portion of meat though the veg looks a bit plain

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 13:04

£19 I thought it was dear really. There’s certainly money to be made on a Sunday.

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 13:04

Veg was bland

Brown sauce?! On a roast? What is this madness?
Looks pretty good but nothing mega special. Maybe £17.50?

ureterr1blemuriel · 24/09/2023 13:06

£20ish around here - would have been £16/7 12 months ago.

I rarely go out for roasts now as I don’t mind cooking them and I’m often disappointed with the amount of gravy provided by pubs/restaurants 😆

lifeishitandmiss · 24/09/2023 13:07

<Record scratch>

Brown sauce?!

itsmyp4rty · 24/09/2023 13:07

I think the price was fair given all the costs that go into it beyond buying the food. I agree though that whenever I have a roast out I always think that we could have just made one at home and saved a load of money. It's the same with things like pizza. If I eat out now I try to go for things that we'd never make at home.

kizzywizz · 24/09/2023 13:07

By brown sauce, for a roast, do you mean gravy ?

itsmyp4rty · 24/09/2023 13:08

YABVU if you want a brown sauce that isn't gravy with a roast dinner!

TheShellBeach · 24/09/2023 13:08

Jesus OP you don't put brown sauce on a roast dinner.

JimandPam · 24/09/2023 13:11

Surely OP just means gravy for 'brown sauce'...surely!!!

No brown sauce even☹️

…what?

TheChosenTwo · 24/09/2023 13:13

Between £20-25 would have been my guess.
We almost never ever go out for a roast, it’s never about the money but they’re just not as good as one at home. Extras of whatever you want, variety of ways of cooking veg, the gravy is sublime and no granules in sight, it’s just inevitable disappointment having a roast out.
There does look like a generous serving of meat though, and it’s nice and pink just how I like it!

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 13:14

Oh god is it a northern thing I always have abit of brown sauce on the side for my potatoes. Not so much in public. The gravy was £1.50 for extra.

OP posts:
Oldraver · 24/09/2023 13:15

Is that gravy or water

StoatofDisarray · 24/09/2023 13:17

The Yorkshire pud is doing a lot of heavy lifting. The portions look measly.

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 13:18

Very stingy

£22 to £25 locally for a mediocre offering.

Im making a roast today for 6 adults and a tween and the beef was £62 alone but there will be leftovers and with sides, dessert, wine etc still a fraction of the cost of taking them all out for a meal.

RubbishDay · 24/09/2023 13:22

If you want to go away feeling stuffed I think it might be better to find a carvery where you can load as much veg as you want on your plate. Personally I never do as I hate that feeling but find it amazing at what others can eat in one sitting so people watching is fun at a carvery 😁

No it is not a Northern thing. It's a you thing 😐

I'm a northerner and I don't know any maniac person that would put brown sauce on a roast dinner.

evtheria · 24/09/2023 13:22

That would be about £16-20 where I am. The beef looks good.

Don't know where to begin with the brown sauce thing, OP. I am in the north (Eng) and it's concerning.
