I mean it was lovely but I always come away thinking I can make bigger and better myself. I want to be stuffed full 😀

It looks like a £17 roast to me

I don't mean it's worth that, it just looks like it thinks it is 😂

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 24/09/2023 15:53

To all the people having hysterics over the mention of brown sauce, would you have mustard with your roast dinner? Same difference. The ingredients are extremely similar and do the same thing. The vinegar, spices salt and sugar enhance the flavour of the meat. To those who have brown sauce or ketchup - crack on. Don’t worry about the pearl clutching food snobs!

placemats · 24/09/2023 15:58

I can't stand broccoli. Did you have a choice of veg? Sadly £20 is power for the course these days. The beef looks goods.

If you want brown sauce, go for it.

theduchessofspork · 24/09/2023 16:01

19 quid seems OK

The meat looks quite generous and not overdone, but the gravy looks horrible, and the veg dull and not enough.

But brown sauce OP - NOOOO

Look @Ilefttownonsaturday I think I'm a reasonable and logical person, capable of being friends with most. But come on pal, let's not slate Cauliflower cheese on a roast.
It's the best bit, let us not fall out over this.

No it’s extremely wrong.

How do you stop some hideous gravy cheese sauce interbreeding hmm??

Cauliflower cheese goes very well with pork chops or something. Or just as is. There is no need to let sauces interbreed. It’s not fair on them.

Passepartoute · 24/09/2023 16:12

For that price I'd expect at least a couple more veg, more potato, better gravy, and I certainly wouldn't expect to have to pay for more gravy.

Lizzzzzzy75 · 24/09/2023 16:18

This is why I don’t eat out anymore.
I would rather make my own .

rumnraisinrocks · 24/09/2023 16:24

Brown sauce on roast bloody isn't you a northern thing you weirdo 😂

I've never known anyone put brown sauce on a roast dinner!

It's good on a stew though. Not a fancy red wine stew, just a simple beef stew.

Leggytigberk · 24/09/2023 16:30

I know I am late to this thread but.... No roasted potatoes on the plate, only two pieces of broccoli. Not good value.
Then no red wine in sight, and talk of Brown sauce,....and Cauliflower Cheese to accompany the dinner (at lunchtime I presume).
We need a General Election to put the country straight.

RubbishDay · 24/09/2023 13:22

If you want to go away feeling stuffed I think it might be better to find a carvery where you can load as much veg as you want on your plate. Personally I never do as I hate that feeling but find it amazing at what others can eat in one sitting so people watching is fun at a carvery 😁

I was going to suggest carvery too for that feeling like you can't even exit feeling of full!

It's the only roast I agree to pay for now that I don't cook myself.

It isn't Sunday lunch without brown sauce, has to be HP though.

Oh grim

restlessandwondering · 24/09/2023 17:05

Good amount of meat but the gravy looks really watery. Did you get roasties too? I agree though OP, I rarely go out for roasts as without being big headed, think mine are better! 😊

Erm, I wouldn't have mustard either!

There's been a few people accusing this dinner of having no roast potatoes on it.

Now, I'm no clairvoyant, but is it possible they have been obscured from view by the Yorkshire pudding?

TheChosenTwo · 24/09/2023 18:14

Who the fuck is putting rice on a roast dinner 😱 rice must have been a typo. Brown sauce - never seen that before!
I don’t eat cauliflower cheese but Dh does sometimes do it with beef, mainly because one of our dc doesn’t eat beef so she’ll have that with all the other sides and it’s still like a full meal.

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2023 18:20

Yes two pale roast potatoes. Im Starving now I might have a crisp sandwich. With brown sauce.

Ikeepmybumcheekshidden · 24/09/2023 18:33

I'd be asking when the rest of it was coming. Was there even any mash?!

Isittimeformynapyet · 24/09/2023 19:23

If I get served a tiny dinner in a restaurant, when the waiter asks if there's anything else they can get me I say "ooh, yes, a magnifying glass please"

TheDuck2018 · 24/09/2023 19:35

Deffo not a Northern thing to put brown sauce on a roast dinner....I'm Northern and would never do it, I just give Southern dh the side-eye as he slathers on the HP!!!

Janieforever · 24/09/2023 19:48

The roasties are clearly under thr massive Yorkshire. You can even see them in the Image 😂

PowerTulle · 24/09/2023 20:01

Two roasties? TWO!!!

And the wait staff will have to pretend they don’t think you’re a dick, whilst all your companions cringe. The wait staff don’t decide the portion size. You’re not funny. You’re a bully.
