I've got two Hello Fresh recipes and I don't fancy either of them. DS is having tea at his friend so it's just me and DH. Today is payday. What should we have?? What are you having??

"Spicy rice"
Roasted onions, peppers, courgettes and garlic seasoned with fajita spice mix stirred into cooked rice and peas. Grated cheese, toasted seeds and chilli sauce to go with. Sometimes we have it in tacos or tortillas with guacamole and lettuce but not tonight.

This is almost exactly one of my staple
recipes and exactly what I am having too!

I've made two different curries, hoping they are nice - a butter chicken and sort of lamb rogan josh. I blitzed the sauce after making the chicken curry and it looks and tastes lovely and creamy despite no cream or coconut milk in the recipe. Served with rice, dhal and naan bread.
Plus wine and crisps first of course Grin.
And made a key lime pie .. not usually so keen on cooking but now retired and had a fairly free day.

Cajun chicken on toasted garlic ciabattas, spinach, peppers, tomato, mayo and good shake of pepper. Well excited

Sweet potato and chickpea curry with baked curried cauliflower, onion salad, poppadoms , naan and mango chutney . It was delicious

goldennavy · 22/09/2023 19:24

Cauli cheese with capers stirred in the sauce
Delish

Frittata with cavolo nero, red peppers and feta, with peas and carrots on the side. DD(6) is weirdly fond of kale, so this is a staple quick meal in our house (and makes up for the not amazingly healthy school food).

wetpebbles · 22/09/2023 19:41

Fish and chips

marymungoNminge · 22/09/2023 19:42

Butter chicken for us. Taken me best part or 3 hours in total as I make the naans with Greek yog and flour.

Can't wait! It's nearly ready.
Having them with rice noodles too

I love these threads and always use ideas to make for the week ahead!

AdoraBell · 22/09/2023 19:44

We had pub lunch with friends so don’t need a meal tonight. Just had cheese with salad and apple.

Natty13 · 22/09/2023 19:45

Lentil stew - green lentils, grated veg, maybe tomatoes and probably spinach (it's from the freezer made it a while ago) with cumin, chilli, tumeric, marjoram. We'll have that with crusty bread (dinner at 9pm in this house)

It's delicious and so filling.

Needmorelego · 22/09/2023 19:48

Daughter had KFC.
I had a crisp sandwich.

momager1 · 22/09/2023 20:05

I made a crockpot of chicken chili this morning.. it has been on the balcony simmering for 6 hours already and the smells are sooooo good. I am home alone this weekend so I am going to slather some crusty bread in good butter and top the chili with sourcream and some grated cheddar and some diced avocado . Can hardly wait. Live in a gated community on the second floor and our gardener has already asked if he can have a bowl lmao.

daffodilandtulip · 22/09/2023 20:07

We've just had nachos and a film. Actual quality time with the teens.

(Obv the film was to watch not eat 😅)

Musicalmistress · 22/09/2023 20:12

Spiced rice with lamb, I'm sure it's got a traditional name but I can't remember it. It's a Pakistani one pot dish and is amazing!!!
My uni friend's gran taught me to make it about 25years ago and the smells take me back to lovely times in her wee kitchen with my friend, who has since passed away. I often wonder if her wee gran is still alive but lost contact with the wider family after friend's death.

Pork, pesto and sun dried tomato sausages, new potatoes with a ton of butter, red cabbage and fried onions and mushrooms

Throwncrumbs · 22/09/2023 20:19

Tomatoes lightly fried in garlic & chilli oil, on toasted halkidiki and olive ciabatta …with grated Parmesan. Was lovely!

Grilled hispi cabbage with sausages

Love grilled hispi.

I am regretting my decision to do chilli. After all that chopping the beans are not rehydrated yet after over being soaked overnight and being boiled for over an hour.

I am warning them, they have 10 minutes left then they are for the bin and I am off to the shop for a can of kidney beans...

So probably eating around midnight here.

Crepesandconans · 22/09/2023 20:46

M and s best ever chicken tikka masala here, with shop bought naans and a cheeky few glasses of 🥂

HarrietofFire · 22/09/2023 20:50

Baked chicken wings with dips. They came out brilliantly. Spicy and crispy and I put them in a basket with a red napkin and we're watching footy. Perfect Friday tea.
