I know it's been endlessly mentioned, but it still for me has to be the Kat and Zoe scene from Eastenders : "You ain't my mother! " "Yes, I am!"

OP posts:

Tiffany's death in Eastenders, the way they just watched her die inc Grant who was holding Courtney.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/09/2023 22:36

Rita and the near miss with the tram.Corrie
Max branding/Stacey affair being discovered on eastenders

SlightlyJaded · 22/09/2023 22:46

Meg dying on the beach in Blake's arms in Home and Away. I was a young teenager and it was about the most tragic thing I'd ever seen. As an adult, I now recall that her mum was watching from the window, knowing it was coming but letting her daughter die with her boyfriend who was her world. I think about the selflessness and anguish of that mother far more often than I should.

I still vividly remember the scene of the door knock to reveal who deirdre had been having an affair with on corrie, I think I could only have been 6 or 7 so God knows how I understood what was going on, but I remember the tension and shock when it was Mike.

And the Eastenders Michelle's baby father reveal, I remember they had all the main suspects looking like they might be the one getting ready to hear the news.

Gosh the good old days when there were no spoilers and you had to wait for the actual episodes 😀

Deirdre sleeping with Dev in Corrie! Nearly forgot about that one

Everyone always says soaps aren't as good as they used to be...maybe we were all just younger and less jaded! And the people who moan about them being unrealistic...OF COURSE they are unrealistic...why would anyone stay in an area with 20% chance of murder 95% chance of affair and 100% chance of tram crash/sinkhole/helicopter crash!

I loved the Shelley/Tracy/Charlie storyline in Corrie, anything with Janine in EE and looking forward to the vile Stephen getting his comeuppance in CS.

I have said this before on here but my ex banned me from watching soaps because they were 'low-brow' but would have to spend all weekend watching/ reading about football/baseball/rugby. Apparently subscribing to watch sporty blokes play sport for hours on end was ok but watching actors act for free for a bit of escapism was 'common'. Reiterate...EX

Slipping in the bath was my first thought.

I remember that too - the sad irony is that the actress who played also died of cancer five years ago

GyozaGirl · 22/09/2023 23:00

When Dot Cotton helped Ethel die.
When Kat Slater shouted I am your Mum at her sister.
Ian Beale getting dumped on his wedding day.

Janine pushing Barry off a cliff in Eastenders

LOL that was class.

"If only he'd worn slip-on shoes ..."

Two have stayed with me for different reasons....
When frank turned up at pat's with his bow tie twizzling round naked at the front door..(eastenders)

I watched Corrie with my mum and brother as a kid. I had terrible nightmares for months after watching the episode when the rovers caught fire and Bet was trapped. She was saved by a Randy Kevin Webster kissing sally and he saw the fire out of the corner of his eye.

God it frightened me.

Oh yes that one

Also when Peggy and Pat had a barny and slapped each other

Didn't Pauline hit Arthur over the head with a frying pan at one point

Warmhandscoldheart · 22/09/2023 23:14

Holly's death in Emmerdale, heartbreaking 😢

Brightredtulips · 22/09/2023 23:17

The episode on corrie when the pub fell on Dierdre"s baby's pram. I was only about 8 and it horrified me.

I remember that, vividly. Bleedin ell.

Anyway, Joe Mangel thinking he'd accidentally killed the family pet rabbit so gave a funeral for the stew pot Smile

Plain Jane's makeover in Neighbours and Mike suddenly falling in love with her.

The Brookside siege whereby two of the housemates were shot dead. Sheila Grant being dragged out of a taxi and assaulted Shock
Lovely Damon Grant being stabbed to death in the Brookside spin-off Damon 4 Debbie.

The whole Alan Bradley/Rita Fairclough saga on Corrers.

Hilda looking at Stan's glasses after he died.

I didn't know that, how sad Sad I'd forgotten about that storyline completely but remember being really upset at the time, weirdly I've recently started watching H&A again after about a 20 year break, it's my guilty pleasure Blush

redmalt · 23/09/2023 00:12

Richard Hillman setting Audrey's house on fire, killing Maxine and attempting to kill Emily then going on to drive the family into the canal.. loved the soaps from back in the day 😁

QuestionableMouse · 23/09/2023 00:19

Plane crash in Emmerdale!

beeonmybonnett · 23/09/2023 00:19

beeonmybonnett · 23/09/2023 00:21

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 23/09/2023 00:24

The rape of Luke in Hollyoaks

The Blackpool tram in Coronation Street

Nigel falling off the roof of Lower Loxley and Helen finally snapping and stabbing Rob Titchner in the Archers.

Cheerfulcharlie · 23/09/2023 00:28

That fire in the Rovers with Bet crawling on the floor vomiting haunted me for years!

MrsBungle · 23/09/2023 00:36

When Gail and Eileen had a fight because Todd admitted he was gay and Sarah Lou was pregnant - Jason turns up and Gail says “here’s the rest of the village people” really sticks in my mind!

RicherThanYews · 23/09/2023 01:08

Scott (Stingray) donating his bone marrow to his niece in Neighbours and then dying at a family birthday party shortly after. Idk why that stayed with me but it did.
