Most memorable soap moment?

I know it's been endlessly mentioned, but it still for me has to be the Kat and Zoe scene from Eastenders : "You ain't my mother! " "Yes, I am!"

Hilda looking at Stan's glasses after he died.

came on to say this. Wonderful acting.

I've never watched soaps, but I have a vivid memory of one episode at a friend's house. Can't remember what it was, but I know she was a keen Neighbours' fan, so that would be my guess.

Basically one of the ladies had been blown up, I think in a caravan, at the end of the previous episode. And it was all dramatic: had she survived or not. My friend was so excited to find out.
And the scene I remember was the lady in a hospital bed, with not a single hair or piece of makeup out of place. Even my friend commented that she must have had time in the ambulance to ask them to fetch her a mirror, and full make up bag.
🤣

If The Archers counts as a soap,

If we're talking The Archers, it surely has to be the death of Grace Archer, planned to coincide with the opening night of ITV in 1955.

'Grace is Dead' was the headline in the evening papers.

(She went into a burning stable to try to rescue the horses.)

The first one I have a real memory of is the emmerdale plane crash. Seem to remember someone called Amos?

Also remember lots about Brookside. The Anna Friel lesbian kiss, Trevor under the park, Bev and Ron, the posh couple who were only posh because they didn't have a scouse accent. Max someone or other i think? Oh and lovely Mick Johnson and not so lovely Barry grant.

Really likes the Sharon and Dennis storyline in eastenders. I was really rooting for them.

HerAvatar · 22/09/2023 16:46

Beth & Margaret's kiss on Brookside.

dirtygertie22 · 22/09/2023 16:47

Trevor under the patio not the park 😂😂😂

HuntingoftheSnark · 22/09/2023 17:00

Fallon boarding a spaceship. I think that was The Colbys, not Dynasty.

sparkleywallpaper · 22/09/2023 17:09

The cot death scene in Emmerdale involving Lauren ...I think she was married to Ashley at the time. Geeez I sobbed. ( I have a vague memory it was followed up by an accidental baby swap mistake).

EquallyDetermined · 22/09/2023 17:16

Alan Bradley being hit by a tram in Corrie
The Hilda Ogden scene mentioned by PPs
Brookside, the Sheila Grant rape storyline

YouJustDoYou · 22/09/2023 17:17

Bouncer's wedding in Neighbours.

greengreengrass25 · 22/09/2023 17:18

Loved the Vince Sinclair moment with Vera and Jack when she puts a wig on in Rovers

happyasaseagullstealingchips · 22/09/2023 17:19

Jackie getting shot accidentally in Emmerdale.

greengreengrass25 · 22/09/2023 17:20

Also Deidre in Court with big glasses

"A didn't do it"

dirtygertie22 · 22/09/2023 17:28

Remember when people were going around wearing Free Dierdre Barlow on them?

Or was it Dierdre Rashid? Because she married Samir and didn't he die horribly?

HonoriaLucastaDelagardie · 22/09/2023 17:28

The Deirdre-Ken-Mike triangle. It had been ongoing for weeks. The storyline was concluded on the night of the Manchester derby, and the outcome was flashed up on the scoreboard at Old Trafford.

NoraLuka · 22/09/2023 17:37

Margaret in Brookside running off a plane because she changed her mind about going away with the guy who used to be a priest.

Also Brookside, Beth and Mandy burying Trevor under the patio. I also remember a blonde woman falling/being pushed off scaffolding, I think Barry did that.

Harold in Neighbours and his glasses on the beach.

When Grant Mitchell played the tape of Sharon admitting to sleeping with his brother Phil.

Yes this is what came to mind as soon as I saw this thread title 😂

The shooting of JR Ewing. Cliffhanger!

eddiemairswife · 22/09/2023 17:53

Blanche at the AA meeting in Corrie.

Hortonhearsawhat · 22/09/2023 17:56

Richard Hillman driving the whole Platt family into the canal to the tune of the Wannadies You & Me song

Same. I was due to move into a new house share and everyone knew it was the 'Big Night' after weeks of a build up. I was going to watch it before I left to move in and got a text from the new housemate saying she hoped I'd be OK to move in but warning me they'd all be glued to Corrie 😆 Match made in heaven!

Irish, and not very good, soap but two memorable Fair City moments- Helen leaving Mike at the altar, goosebumps, and Billy being killed by Lorcan.

TaigaSno · 22/09/2023 18:03

Repeating everyone else but these are mine:

Hilda with Stan's glasses after he died (Corrie).

Den giving Angie the divorce papers (Enders).

Scott and Charlene's wedding (Neighbours).

Beth and Margaret kissing (Brookside).

TwoScoopsPlease · 22/09/2023 18:04

I'm not really a soaps fan but I'm still not over Shane dying in Home and Away. He was one of my first childhood crushes. Sad to think that Dieter Brummer is also now dead.

HeadAgainstWall0923 · 22/09/2023 18:09

It was Brookside when the dead body of Trevor Jordache (I think) was found buried in the back garden after his wife had previously killed him due to the domestic violence he had been inflicting on her.

I think her friend Sinbad was digging up the grass to build an extension or something and he found a bin liner beneath some mud and when he pulled on the bag it tore and revealed a dead, rotting human hand!

At the time of its release (maybe 25 years ago?!) it was a HUGE storyline. I remember the nation being gripped 😂

MsFrost · 22/09/2023 18:11

I thought you meant the most memorable moment of using soap. Weird thread, I thought, but I was all in to tell you about the 'crazy soap' I used to use in the bathroom as a kid. It came in a spray can and foamed everywhere. It was wild.
