Mine is a tiara - not necessarily an expensive one - costume jewellery really - but I would never have an occasion to wear one, and as I have a face like a homely potato, I’d look ridiculous in one. But I still get that little yearning, if I see one on FB or Etsy.

A small sun glass room off the house which is private, filled with plants, light all times of day/see the stars at night and has a big comfy seat, a hammock and a bookcase. Not necessary at all but I would use it all the time! Unfortunately we don't have the space.

Hummingbird233 · 21/09/2023 07:50

A collection of vintage trolls. The type that were around in the 90s with jewel belly buttons. Don't need them. But want them!

I want a house with enough space to have a library, one of those with books from floor to ceiling and cosy armchairs to sit and read and of course a fireplace to add to the ambience. Nevermind that I have 3 children 5 and under and haven’t managed to read a paper book in years 😂

ScottBakula · 21/09/2023 09:41

@Maireas , ahhh a see , yep adding that to my list too.
I also want a open fire 🔥

A festival trolley!

I know what a sitooterie is, but what's a festival trolley? (A parade float? A hostess trolley? A streetcar with bus tyres not tracked wheels?)

I hope you get it someday. We are lucky enough to have a sun room (I don't actually keep a bookcase in it - sun damage - but there's one in the room it leads off) and it is just as good as you'd think. We use it all the time. It wasn't on our wish list at all but I wouldn't like to give it up now.

Bookist · 21/09/2023 13:54

Can I admit to having an actual (small) library with floor to ceiling bookcases on three of the walls and a very battered leather Chesterfield sofa in it. I love it more than some family members. However if I'm to finally gain my tiny crooked cottage on a high hill, the library has to go.

ArcaneWireless · 21/09/2023 14:27

How lovely. What a perfect wee sanctuary. I’m well jel bookist. Well jel 😍

BitOutOfPractice · 21/09/2023 14:31

@mfhtoeh i hope that’s reality for you very soon.

I want a bright green chunky cardigan.

Fluffy40 · 21/09/2023 14:31

A pipe (tobacco). I love the smell

sockarefootwear · 21/09/2023 14:45

I have a list.

  1. A big black hooded cloak, like in the Scottish Widdows advert- in my imagination, I would float around in it looking glamorous yet mysterious. I know that I could probably buy one but it would be expensive and, as I am a larger, older woman I would look like a witch.
  2. An American style porch on my house with a swinging seat and rocking chair so that I can sit in the evenings and watch the world go by, or have deep and meaningful chats. It would look really odd on my suburban newbuild but I also know that I would never use it because a) I would feel self conscious sitting in full view of all the neighbours b) there would be spiders and c) it rains too much.
  3. A hot tub in my garden. I will not get one, because a) it would take loads of effort to keep it clean, b) my house is overlooked and numerous neighbours would be able to see me, including 2 next door neighbours who would probably want to chat over the fence, c) the faff of getting changed/dried etc would be too much d) it rains too much and e) I know that everyone thinks they are naff and I would be judged
IcakethereforeIam · 21/09/2023 14:54

For one glorious day I was the proud owner of two grey hooded cloaks with red linings. They were off my Nana, I think they'd been part of her uniform when she was a nurse. I took them to primary school and was, briefly, the most popular person in my class. We has a whale of a time with them.

The next day I couldn't find them. My mum had thrown them away and I went back to being the shy, mostly ignored, child I'd been before.

ScottBakula · 21/09/2023 14:55

I want to grow up to be like you @Bookist 😁📚📚📚

Moonlightsonatas · 21/09/2023 14:56

a Birkin bag

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/09/2023 14:59

@IcakethereforeIam - I used to have a vintage police cape, with lion’s head fastenings but I lost it during a move. It chafed round the neck but I still miss it.

I did have a cape when I was doing my nurse training but at my hospital, the student and pupil nurses wore grass green uniforms and the cape was bottle green with a light green lining and cross over straps - ugly as sin.

I'd like a heated pool in its own lovely wood lined poolhouse . Instead of having friends round for dinner I'd have them over for a swim and then sit on the side eating pizza and drinking wine. Warm all year round.

My mum would like a giraffe.

Sweetpea1532 · 21/09/2023 17:35

I'd like to have a kitty cat...one of those like on t'internet memes .😺😸😻😽
But, as we have packs of coyotes living near us, it's only a dream.

I know I could have an exclusively indoor cat, but my DH loves to keep ALL the doors and windows flung open to let in the fresh air and dust, and the occasional lizard, snake, mouse, bird, and even a coyote tried to come in once! Hmm

Sweetpea1532 · 21/09/2023 17:46

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius@IcakethereforeIam

Here are some nurses in dashing capes at my DAunt's funeral. They were quite impressive swishing around.Grin

A whole new kitchen with cupboard doors that close properly, veneer that isn’t peeling and a dishwasher that you don’t have to anxiously check has really started its cycle 5 minutes in.

LateMumma · 21/09/2023 17:49

Those great big 3m tall ceramic giraffes that you hang a light from. I lust after them, but my ceiling is not even close (and also I can't afford £2k or whatever they cost)

LateMumma · 21/09/2023 17:49

Also a pergola

Ooh yes, me too! We have an overstuffed bookcase in the spare bedroom but it isn’t quite the same.

fevertotell · 21/09/2023 18:54

My husbands is leather trousers! There is no way that I'm for that 🤣

Mine would be a bicycle with a shopping basket 🤣🤣
