Mine is a tiara - not necessarily an expensive one - costume jewellery really - but I would never have an occasion to wear one, and as I have a face like a homely potato, I’d look ridiculous in one. But I still get that little yearning, if I see one on FB or Etsy.

An old fashioned dressing table to remind me if my granny.
Stairs that at a push of a button turns into a slide. So I can slide down, always wanted this.
A teasmaid so I can have tea without getting out of bed

I want a slide in my house too! Preferably a twisty, helter-skelter one.

And a guinea pig ranch outside.

A tiny, slightly crooked cottage high on a hill with a deep window seat on which I can sit, drink coffee and read my book. The only sound will be the soft ticking of a clock and the crackle of the real fire. Upstairs they'll be a brass bedstead with a pink paisley comforter on it.

I've yearned for this since I was a little girl. I think it's down to a story book I once had? Now that we're Empty Nesters we're going to downsize our family home, so I might finally be able to go shopping for my crooked cottage, at last. I'll never leave.

A Land Rover Defender, a Rolex watch and a pair of Fairfax and Favour boots ...

OK ... I know I'm asking a lot, but hey ... a girl can dream .........

After 11 weeks in hospital all I want is my own bed (that doesn’t have a plastic mattress), with a real duvet on it (not blankets), my dog snuffling her not-quite snores & cat curled up beside me.

Let's hope this becomes real very soon

Sonolanona · 20/09/2023 17:11

A big garden (with a little bungalow) for my dog,

A Devon Rex cat

And my hideous short hair to grow back really quickly !!!

80sMum · 20/09/2023 17:14

A landscaped garden - and a gardener to manage it and keep it looking nice.

That should be "globe" not " glove"
Stupid autocorrect!

Hahaha that makes much more sense .

DartsAndFarts · 20/09/2023 19:41

A grandfather clock. Plus the house for it to look good in. My parents had a gorgeous one but when they sold the family home, it had to go as no one had any room for it.

I love a grandfather clock.

RoseMartha · 20/09/2023 20:56

sjj28358 · 20/09/2023 21:00

A Siamese kitten for me please!

THEDEACON · 20/09/2023 22:17

A mahogany bureau which I have no room for likewise a hostess trolley

Bored1000 · 20/09/2023 22:46

A complete hair transplant, I have a lot or hair, but it is curly and frizzy and a pain in the butt to maintain, I would so love a head of sleek shiny hair, alas it will never be!

A Siamese kitten for me please!

I’ve had five of those over the years. I’d love, love, love another one but I took in a cat as a favour to someone and I don’t think she’d tolerate another cat in the house. All my Siamese were absolutely loving and beautiful.

StrongandNorthern · 20/09/2023 23:34

A sitooterie.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 20/09/2023 23:37

Is your user name from a series of books where a girl catches an escaped Arab horse? Sorry, really random question, but your name has just trigged something in my brain 😂

The Jinny stories by Patricia Leitch about Shantih the Arab horse! Hadn't thought of those in ages.

A yacht. And a camper van. The 2nd is more realistic but dh hates them with a passion.

I really want a camper van too. That's my unnecessary thing. It is all the more silly because I can't actually drive. Both husband and I would worry about it being stolen (a scourge in this city) and husband would hate driving it - he drives a tiny compact car. But I'd love to be able to go places spontaneously. My aunt had one in the 70s to 90s and took it all over the place...

More achievably I'd like a hot water tank big and efficient enough for a really deep bath now and again. Ours gives out before the hot water even covers my thighs properly.

I'd also like to be in a suitable situation to look after guinea pigs again. I had them pre-children and I miss them, but it would be too difficult to have pets at the moment.

I could see that glove. Obviously a gap in the market.

AnneKipankitoo · 21/09/2023 07:20

I’d love a dog. However husband won’t let me. I’m not very good with poo either.
