Mine is a tiara - not necessarily an expensive one - costume jewellery really - but I would never have an occasion to wear one, and as I have a face like a homely potato, I’d look ridiculous in one. But I still get that little yearning, if I see one on FB or Etsy.

A KitchenAid free standing mixer! I really don't need one, I really don't need one, I really don't.......

I really want a big grand dolls house.
I want to spend my time decorating it with fancy miniature furniture.

I have neither the space nor the money but, god damnit, I want one!

Ooh, same!!

RichTeee · 20/09/2023 00:43

A victorian travelling writing case/bureau
I almost bought one at a posh school fete (not my school) when I was 10, but it would have used all my holiday money so I didn't.

I've regretted it ever since. Even though my lovely Granda who I was stating with at the time made me a bit of a slanted easel type thing with a groove for my fountain pen.....I was an odd child.

I think its become too romanticised in my head as I can't find the "perfect" one anymore. Plus I don't spend hours a week writing poems, stories and letters to every Tom, dick or Harry I could think of. Hell I don't even send Christmas cards.

But I waaaannnnnntttt one

And the new hourglass snake pallette- which I am NOT buying as I own far too much makeup and I swore I would only buy as something ran done. (So 2067)

moanyhole · 20/09/2023 00:51

An old fashioned dressing table to remind me if my granny.
Stairs that at a push of a button turns into a slide. So I can slide down, always wanted this.
A teasmaid so I can have tea without getting out of bed

A Velvetiser. I know the novelty would wear off very quickly if I had to hand wash it, which is why I haven’t bought one, but I still want one.

Nooo, it wouldn't, because you don't really have to wash them as such. The whisk-y thing lifts out leaving a smooth non-stick container (works by magnetism...). You rinse both parts under the tap, at most deal with a few specks of melted-on chocolate on the whisk-y bit then, and this is the best bit, you just velvetise some water with a few drops of washing-up liquid, and rinse again. Done. I rinse and set the water velvetising immediately after making hot chocolate to go in my special mug that doesn't go in the dishwasher, and then once I've drunk the chocolate I use the warm velvetised washing up liquid water to wash up the mug. I love my velvetiser, get one!

A lovely new pale green corner sofa that I can sink in to. I have seven dogs and a muddy garden and it would be ruined within 30 minutes!

Monkeybutt1 · 20/09/2023 07:09

The vase from Frasier, it's been 11 years since I last watched it and I still covet it. I have no need for a $30,000 vase but I can dream..

One utterly unnecessary thing you really want.
Maireas · 20/09/2023 07:13

That's a beautiful vase. I would keep chocolate bars in it, like Daphne did.
I also covet Frasier's Eames chair.

FourStringsNoWaiting · 20/09/2023 07:25

I have some nice ukuleles but I want a PROPER nice one, hand made in solid wood from the islands

Not unheard of for something like that to set you back upwards of £5K which is more than I spent on my car so I'm thinking maybe not

Iheartmysmart · 20/09/2023 08:12

I’d like a 1967 Mini Cooper and a balcony on my first floor flat where I can sit with a glass of wine at the end of the day. Nowhere to keep the mini though and my flat overlooks the Co-Op loading bay!

Imsureitsprobablymebut · 20/09/2023 08:33

A huge orangery filled with sunshine and plants and tinkerly water features and a grand piano that played itself. Bliss

Damn you planning permission (and lack of funds!)

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 20/09/2023 08:58

An oud - the musical instrument,
not the fragrance. I have no idea how to play it, but I could ploink away to my heart’s content (until the neighbours complained).

A diamond ring like this:

I saw it in Dover Street Market about 10 years ago and it’s haunted me…

A swimming lake. Not sure where I’d put it in our suburban semi.

CatrinVennastin · 20/09/2023 09:36

I’d like no strings sex with my rather handsome new neighbour.

And a tumble dryer.

parameciumparty · 20/09/2023 09:41

A musical box that plays Shostakovich's Waltz No 2. I've found one online, but it's over £300 and I can't justify the cost.

Wall to ceiling book cases in my lounge. But it's too small and I wouldn't fit my sofa in or much else iso it's just a dream. Sigh.

Maybe a new house with a bigger lounge is the answer..

I also wanted this but like you I don't have the space so I got 'bookcase wall paper' have a look at my photo posted at 20.33 yesterday it covers a largish area under my stairs

There are loads of different types of 'books' .
I love mine .

DanielsDancingMonkey · 20/09/2023 10:50

@FourStringsNoWaiting there is a Luthier that makes wonderful ukes. I played one of his a few years ago and it was sublime. I considered selling all of mine, and buying it.

then I considered just buying it and keeping the ones I already have.

DanielsDancingMonkey · 20/09/2023 10:52

@FourStringsNoWaiting sorry, I meant to add the key information “in Lyme Regis.”

DanielsDancingMonkey · 20/09/2023 10:54

I’d like a Victorian conservatory with a heated jacuzzi / spa pool, and a sauna.

and someone to maintain them for me, and pay my electricity bills.

LetMeEnfoldYou · 19/09/2023 15:51

A really big tattoo across my upper chest that extends up to my neck.

I won't, obviously, but if I was 20 years younger...

I had this done for my 40th. I love itGrin

Giggorata · 20/09/2023 11:27

A huge barrel vaulted cellar under the house.

We live in a high water table area, so even if we had the money, it's not really feasible and would need extensive tanking, would probably leak, etc.

threecupsofteaminimum · 20/09/2023 11:28

A garden and a golden retriever for my son to play with. Well, it's his dream actually!

Ceraunophile · 20/09/2023 11:43

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 19/09/2023 15:54

One of those gloves that opens up and has a bottle of whiskey and 6 glasses inside. Looks really naff but I would love one. I have no room for it but I can dream!

I have one of these. I love it! Ours has sherry and amaretto in rather than whisky though as we don’t like whisky.

Like several others I love the idea of a wrap around porch. I talk sense into myself though by reminding myself it would get all spidery and require cleaning and I’m really antisocial so would never sit out there in case passers by dared to talk to me!

ISeeARedDoorAndIWantToBreakIn · 20/09/2023 11:47

@gyf you are a bad influence on me! Now I really REALLY want one!
