I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Merry Christmas all! I'm still awake as D woke herself up with a coughing fit, but finally seems to have resettled. @Peridot1 such good news for your Christmas day - so pleased for you, and to be able to speak on the phone as well must have felt so special.

We had a lovely day too, delicious meal, not too much stress, everyone happy with their presents. Lots of messages exchanged with friends near and far too. We're flying back with my parents later in the week (will be in home country for a week) so the next few days are about clearing the fridge, buying presents in the sales, and packing!

We had a very chilled day. DH has the lurgy and is head chef so it was a slow day! I did quite a bit too obviously but he kept going off for a lie down. We didn’t eat till around 5.30 and then just watched a movie. It’s a bit too quiet for my liking really with just us three but can’t do much about it now. Have sister and her family coming for new year so that will be busier.

we were due to go to our neighbours today but we cancelled on Saturday as not fair to give them our germs so it’s another quiet one here. Hoping to at least play some games as dinner will be easier.

Happy Boxing Day all! We're having a pretty chilled day, dh has been building a bookcase whilst I've deep cleaned the ensuite. The dc have been gaming, eating their weight in chocolate and loafing about in pyjamas for the day. So relaxed!
Tomorrow we're due to do an illumination trail but I've just seen a weather forecast. Might need a canoe, not just wellies.

We were very quiet yesterday. I did my horse volunteering and enjoyed the fresh air very much. Picked the best day for it! It's canoe weather here today too @RunningKatie . I hope you and your family enjoy the lights.

I left washing up to drain last night. This morning I attempted to get a mug from under a china bowl with one hand, with a teaspoon of coffee in the other. I caused a cascade which resulted in a broken bowl, spilt coffee granules and a very startled cat. More than one note to self there...... 🤔

Some normality today. A wash is on, kitchen floor is mopped and I'm meeting a friend this morning then going out with my family this afternoon to blow the cobwebs away. I am tempted to take the Christmas tree down but will try to hold off till the weekend! Also we put things out of toddler reach on Sunday, so that all needs putting back. I'm enjoying having a dining room but only have that till the 3rd. Nice to have people around the table this week though 😊

I hope your sister continues to improve and recover @Peridot1 . Great that she is out of ICU and her numbers are looking good. What a worry for you and the extended family and it sounds as though it was a very close call.
How are you doing @Mumtobabyhavoc ? Is it tomorrow that you meet your little one?
We still have a houseful of family which I love. My brother and sister in law go home today and my dad and stepmother go tomorrow. More friends over for lunch tomorrow and others for dinner on 30th then more family coming for New Year. The new dining room has been a huge success and was finished in a useable way by 7.30 on Christmas Eve. There are still things that need finishing and I will be back weilding a paintbrush soon. The carpenter and builder also need to come back to finish the last few bits and DH has quite a few jobs to do as well. We’ve had a lovely Christmas and my dad has coped well. We have been able to put on pause thinking about the results of his bone scan and MRI and have taken some of the strain from my stepmother in coping with his dementia and other issues.

@FrostyFogg I definitely won’t be taking down our trees (we have two) any time soon as one of them only went up on Christmas Eve and other decorations a few days prior to that.

Christmas trees not coming down yet here either. I like to still have them up for New Years and usually until 12th night.

Today is a tidy round for the cleaners and getting spare bedrooms tidied and beds made up. My sister and her family arrive on Friday for New Year.

Tomorrow I am planning a very quiet day before the invasion!

I am filled with admiration for Daily Projecteers hosting.

I have started the Christmas clear-up. So far I have tidied downstairs, made up a charity shop bag, washed and bleached 3 kitty litter trays. The DCs have had ice cream for breakfast.

I have also started a new Daily Project notebook. I treated myself to a lovely notebook for my Christmas present. I am making notes of all the projects I want to do. So far I have done the entrance from road to front door and have the following plans;

1. fix wooden trellis
2. sort out the paving
3. rearrange and tidy pot plants
4. take wire off wrought iron gate (we put wire to stop one of our dogs getting out. He is sadly deceased)
5. get out concrete cutter and make proper garden beds.

That is as far as I have gotten so far.

Morning all- hope everyone is well! Could not sleep with all the wind so was up at 5 am and scrubbing my kitchen cupboards. Waiting for the pharmacy to open so i can collect various prescriptions.

Today;

• wash bedclothes
• iron yesterday's washing
• life admin
• Make list of painters as I want to get the front door painted.
• Make list of conservatory people as we need our conservatory replaced / fixed.

I was trying to make Thursdays my outdoor day as it is the day i have most free but looking at the weather (which DH strangely thinks he can go for a bike ride in) I don't think I want to be outside!

You have been busy @WinterLobelia! If I wake up early I rarely tend to actually DO anything. Just sit and drink tea.

I am still in Christmas mode here so other than getting ready for visitors I’m not planning much. The cleaners coming yesterday meant I tidied the house and the spare bedrooms for cleaning and they made up two of the beds. I have just one left to do. Planning a pretty lazy day today. DH is still unwell with the lurgy and was in bed before 7 last night.

Today I need to make up a bed for my nephew, wash a load of bedding and a normal wash. Make a turkey and ham pie for dinner. Might clear out the fridge too. Big supermarket shop arriving this morning. That’s about it!

Morning everyone! Just been catching up with the thread. Glad the dining room got finished @petalpower , that was close! Best wishes for your sister @Peridot1 and for havoc 2 @Mumtobabyhavoc

DH also had mild lurgy over Christmas so I hope my dad hasn't got it, he's 92 and tries to avoid germs. Difficult to do entirely if you want to see people though!

On 26-27 we drove from Scotland to Milton Keynes and managed on the way to see an old friend on 26 and my half brother and family on 27 (they on the way up to see dad, we on the way back).

But it meant no time for other breaks in the journey and the traffic was terrible so the journey yesterday was about 6 hours! Not sure I have ever been so tired! (DH drivers license is expired until we renew his photo card so on this trip I am the solo driver).

Now ensconced at MIL's house and having a lazy morning prior to taking kids to Woburn safari park. No more changing locations till we go home now (though several planned day trips to see nearby family).

I have a big project starting 3rd January for my original and best client so things will get hectic when we are back.

Today we've done the annual return of too small clothes that were gifted without receipts. As it's dh's family I now make him do it but I did accompany him, and allowed him to buy me a coffee!

Hello everyone, sorry a bit absent and distracted - as well as usual post-Christmas mayhem (and PILs leaving and my parents coming to stay at ours from the hotel and having to change bedding, towels, etc), been dealing with some complicated medical admin things to do with H and lots of discussions, phone calls, poring over information, etc.

Tomorrow we fly back with my parents so must pack, tidy house, clear out fridge etc. by tomorrow lunchtime!

Morning all (just!). I'm searching the house for dc2's activity passport. Before Christmas I remember thinking I should put it somewhere safe. Now I have no clue where it is! Luckily we don't need it for a fortnight but I was going to sit and log the hours.
I've returned a parcel today, thought I was outside the 28 day window but it's gone. Also am tidying up random stuff in my search for the passport. Dh is making a path beside my car, finally no more mud slides!
Hope everyone is ok, visitors are where they should be and there are tiny babies safely tucked up over the pond.
