@autumnangel

@RunningKatie
@LateSummerLobelia
@Aria999
@Mumtobabyhavoc

and anyone else who would like to join us, whatever your daily tasks are.

I joined after procrastinating putting up some curtain tie backs and now I am flying through a massive decluttering exercise. (I need to tackle the loft next, but I may need to sit down (a lot) before I do that 😄).

Hope the tagging works, SoE.

Hello everyone! Lovely as always to read what you have all been up to! I love this thread - it follows wordle and connections now in my morning routine (5, and perfect today, should anyone be interested 😂) I lurk on the elderly parents board too but never till lunchtime!
I have the Kate Muir book and the Newson website @petalpower Funnily enough I'll tell anyone who'll listen about them but can't make the leap myself. I love the idea of the natural HRT but GP said it's not properly tested and will only prescribe the standard stuff. I am going to bite the bullet though as I now have brain fog etc too. Ironically my wages were going to pay for private consultation but the anxiety etc made me leave earlier than planned. Sigh....
I do have some stressors currently which are Somewhat Outing if anyone I know should read this, and I've been blaming those, but perhaps I'll feel better about them if I Go On Drugs! 🙈 😂
I appreciate the link re osteoporosis @Mumtobabyhavoc. Thank you!

Therapy session over. Sorry folks! And thank you for either reading or politely scrolling past!

Christmas shopping has commenced (thank you Amazon and amazon wishlists!)

Today i have the house to myself and I'm ridiculously excited about it and plan to give the place a good scrub now it's been almost complete decluttered. I tend to feel much more energetic when I'm alone.

So i had better shift the cat, get up, and have a shower then 'get dressed to shoes', as my beloved Flylady would say.

Have a great day everybody 😊

SingleThreadJoiner · 28/11/2023 12:13

Good morning...or maybe afternoon, I'm just emerging from a morning on Teams so I've lost track of time! I've also been unwell since Friday, having caught the cold/cough/lurgy from my D, so everything seems to be more effort than necessary. Including thinking. Needless to say, nothing productive has happened except for a bit of laundry and basic tidying. I've been missing going to my stretch and pilates classes and swimming - but am still in no fit state to do so 😢😷

But it sounds like everyone else is being busy enough for me as well! 😁

@petalpower , 120!!! Gosh that is really a lot, no wonder you are thinking of pruning the list!

Thank you @OrangePumpkinLobelia Orange for the lovely photos, really cheered me up

and @SpiritOfEdna those seagulls! Properly vicious and bold!

Although I am still feeling grotty, and have a busy work week, there are two things that I really must try to do today or tomorrow - namely look into what I need to renew my drivers license, and tell my H what I might like the PILs to get me for Christmas - which is very kind of them really, I am not expecting anything, but since they ask I must oblige...

RunningKatie · 28/11/2023 12:21

Hope you feel better soon @SingleThreadJoiner - I'm desperately trying to avoid all lurgies, usually I get felled by one over Christmas so a few weeks to go yet.

DH is moaning about the state of the house, it appears moaning does not translate to action though. He tried telling me last night how stressed he was, I sadly gave him no sympathy but pointed out that there was no need for him to put Christmas lights up outside in November. Especially during 9 to 5 when he should be working.

One load of washing on today, shower drain cleared and some paperwork filed away. I need to decide if I'm going to sell my standing desk or not, it's a thing of beauty but won't fit my 2 screens on. So it's a paperwork storage area instead and in the bedroom as it won't fit in the spare room/office.

Peridot1 · 28/11/2023 13:29

@petalpower our dog is 13.5. A very elderly lady. Which she sometimes forgets!

@SpiritOfEdna your Cornwall trip sounds lovely. Except for the thieving seagull obviously.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - you seem like you are really in nesting mode!

@Thunderinglightly - Christmas shopping has commenced here too - also on Amazon. I try to avoid it but it’s just so easy. I do need to do a list though.

@Aria999 - DH is doing our outside Xmas lights as I write but other than my wreath and advent candles we haven’t done anything else. Need to wait till DS gets home to get everything down from the loft.

@RunningKatie my DH was planning to do the outside lights before it got cold but of course left it till now. I’ve no sympathy either.

Peridot1 · 28/11/2023 13:43

Just interrupted by having to go and help with the lights.

Anyway - yesterday DH picked pictures as our household task so we now have some more pictures up. And a gap where we moved one from the living area to upstairs where DH thinks it fits better.

I didn’t achieve much this morning and am out this afternoon to get my eyebrows tinted, pick up meds for the dog and deposit a cheque.

SpiritOfEdna · 28/11/2023 14:59

Today's tasks, now that I am back in work mode:

  • put bikes back outside on racks - DONE
  • one load of washing - DONE
  • prep a hotpot for tea - DONE
  • walk the dog - DONE
  • pay a parking fine - DONE
  • chase a refund for car hire - DONE, but still not happening, grrr
  • need to make a list for xmas - most of presents are done already, but need to make the house visitor ready
That's all for now, have a good day, SoE

Morning! Welcome back @SpiritOfEdna sounds like the break made you more productive than ever!

Thinking is overrated anyway @SingleThreadJoiner 😂 but I hope you feel better soon.

I am doing a spare bedroom furniture (etc!) swap round this week. I'm trying to channel my inner @SpiritOfEdna as it requires the dismantling of a double bed and quite a lot of organisation around moving stuff out of one room to create space in the other. I am not a natural. I have a deadline of 10th December to have the house visitor-ready and a further week for it to be toddler-safe. It shall be done but it feels a little chaotic in the meantime.

Best wishes to all of you and I hope you all have a happy and productive day 💐

Peridot1 · 29/11/2023 08:21

Morning all.

Straight back into list and productive mode @SpiritOfEdna!

@Thunderinglightly - good luck with it! Sounds messy to get done but having a deadline is good.

Today’s list:

  • PT session at 9
  • towel wash
  • general tidy up for cleaners
  • wash kitchen windows and light fittings
  • tidy utility room
  • strip bed in spare room
  • wash bedding
  • clear pile of magazines on chair - it’s still there @Aria999!
  • sort through my recipes file - it’s a bit out of control
  • do Christmas present list

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 29/11/2023 09:40

Morning all! Rather chilly here this morning.
I need to have the house hairdresser ready by 4pm. So, I've hoovered downstairs and washed up, plus wiped the table down. At lunchtime I shall dash round putting stuff away, and hiding the rest! She has similar age dc so she knows it's a never-ending task but still I do like it to be a bit tidier!
Tonight I need to do some serious internet shopping and the ironing.

Thunderinglightly · 29/11/2023 12:47

It's cold here too, but sunny at least and beautifully golden! I had to laugh at "hairdresser-ready' @RunningKatie 😂

I'm not sure I would like to have a cleaner. Feels quite invasive, somebody knowing about all your grot. I never minded being the cleaner when I was a carer. Other people's filth does not faze me, though I always found trying to clean around lots of clutter very stressful. Anyway I just know I'd be tidying up before they came!

How are you doing with the PT @Peridot1 ? I've restarted doing a bit of tai chi in the mornings and otherwise it is brisk walks. Feeling reasonably fit. Could always improve of course.

Some success with the bedrooms. I have quite a lot of the little room's bits in our master bedroom. I hoovered it too 😇 Spare room bits to go in the small room this afternoon so that i can give spare room a clean. Then it i will hopefully empty my room.

I wonder how @OrangePumpkinLobelia is getting on with the carpets?

SpiritOfEdna · 29/11/2023 13:55

morning - just read back - interesting to read the various takes on lists. I do love a list (as we know) but I am useless at the every day self care routines (ie I do brush my teeth every day, but I have an internal battle around the doing of it and when it happens) and I've started using an app which has helped me get into a habit stacked routine so I can brush my teeth, clean my face, get my vitamins ready all at the same time and I get the dopamine hit of a big tick at the same time 😄

So I had some success with chasing the refund for the car hire - no explanation about why they cancelled the car hire with only an hour to find another car. Anyway, refund has been processed although will have to wait 7-10 days for it to hit my bank account.

Today

  • arrange to send my down jacket out for repair & wash - it has some tears from when SpiritDoggo was a bitey puppy - DONE
  • repair the christmas tree decorations that GreatNephew made - they need glueing back together or maybe put onto a more robust clay backing
  • ironing
  • polish/clean my shoes & boots as they are all looking a bit sad and muddy.
  • hand wash some woollens
  • water plants
That's all for now, have a good day all, SoE

Trying to be productive today!

Went to doctor about mystery itchy patch on my back.

Got flu shot
Booked annual mammogram and annual health checkup and Pap smear test
Applied for some projects (I am currently in the famine part of my work feast/ famine cycle)
Changed / tightened 5 lightbulbs
Paid the gardener
Opened post (again, it keeps coming!)
Ordered new ceiling fan as ours broke
Emailed electrician to ask quote for fan installation
Got an email back from the fan manufacturer offering to send me a free blade set for repair so cancelled the above

Next up:
Change sheets and towels

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 29/11/2023 20:20

Hello all!

I do not feel as if I have been as productive as @Aria999 ; @Peridot1 @SpiritOfEdna @SingleThreadJoiner ; @Mumtobabyhavoc or @Thunderinglightly !

We have been productive but it's all a bit dispiriting as we cannot immediately see any benefit!

We seem to have made the most awful mess of clearing furniture in that furniture innards and bits are now downstairs instead of upstairs and with 1 and a half rooms to still clear before 11 am Friday. 9 rooms (including landings and stairs) and are being carpeted.

However, I have managed to have three piles when decluttering- save and relocate; charity shop; chuck. I have thrown alot of stuff. Why I felt the need to keep my work appointments diaries from 2008-2022 is beyond me. They are now in the bin. I have also charity shopped a very great many books. And found a wrapped Christmas gift that DH put away in a 'safe place' for me from 2018. So things are looking better and the carpet people have said via e-mail that anything we cannot manage before they arrive they will deal with. So I am feeling positively inclined. Grin

Tomorrow will be crazy. The carpet guys arrive Friday and plan to finish up on Saturday. It's hugely kind of them to work the weekend.

So that is Chez Lobelia!

I hope everyone is well. Thanks

SingleThreadJoiner · 29/11/2023 20:32

@OrangePumpkinLobelia that's hugely productive! Sounds like a huge carpeting job, and with all these extra decluttering benefits as well - how amazing!

@RunningKatie I hope you are resplendent post-hairdresser 💃

And all others - impressive lists as always!!

Thanks all for the good wishes - I am definitely more cogent and actually managed some tasks beyond work and basic laundry, namely renewing driving licence (SO much easier than I expected!) and sorting out some bits for forthcoming social events /celebrations. Long day of in-person work tomorrow, out before 8am and probably back around 8pm. Watching football on the sofa to recharge in anticipation of the tiring day 😂

petalpower · 29/11/2023 20:47

Nine rooms @OrangePumpkinLobelia ! That sounds very challenging.
A very cold day here - in the middle of the day it was still only 1 degree and quite foggy after a lovely bright start. Visited the care home this morning and there was a singer as entertainment which was fun. Lots of other small jobs ticked off too. Can’t even think what they were but I’ve been busy! DH and the builder have made some good progress on the build today - plastering, grouting and painting. Still loads to go though and much like @OrangePumpkinLobelia everything is all over the place and there are tools and building equipment in nearly every room. I can’t even think about decorating for Christmas which is a bit sad - everywhere is covered in builders dust and can’t be cleaned until the build has finished.

Thunderinglightly · 30/11/2023 08:42

Morning! Well done @Aria999 and good luck with jobs!

Hello @petalpower and best wishes for everything done soon so you can prepare for Christmas. The care home sounds like a lovely one ☺

@OrangePumpkinLobelia I'm feeling quite fraught just reading about the carpets, but it'll be so worth it!

More of the same here today. I'm feeling fresh and rosy cheeked after a lovely cold brisk walk, and my flylady routine has been done. Now to embark on more spare room shuffling 😂

Peridot1 · 30/11/2023 09:22

@Thunderinglightly - the PT sessions are going well. My PT is really nice and we have a nice chat and a laugh so the time flies. I just need to get to the gym other days as well! One session a week isn’t enough. I also need to add in some walks.

I definitely go around tidying before the cleaners arrive! It keeps me tidy. It’s a definite luxury though. I think having a cleaner regularly means it doesn’t get too grotty so there isn’t that judgement to worry about. I love the house after they leave as it’s all clean AND tidy. Which lasts about an hour usually!

@SpiritOfEdna that app sounds interesting. I’m definitely feeling more in control and productive since I did my list last week.

That’s a long list you got done @Aria999. I have a weird itchy patch on my back too. I had a skin cancer/mole check done a few months ago and they couldn’t see anything there. Mine gets itchy every evening. Just on one shoulder blade.

@OrangePumpkinLobelia it sounds like a mammoth job but with the decluttering you are doing at the same time it will be fabulous once it’s all done and everything is back in its place and it’s all clean and tidy.

@petalpower - I’m sure it’s really frustrating not to be able to clean up and start Christmas preparations but it will be worth it!

@SingleThreadJoiner - I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to renew my driving licence too. And I have an Irish passport so had to take it to a post office to get it done and validated. New license arrived within 2/3 days.

Today’s list here:

  • wash bedding from yesterday
  • put washing away
  • clean kitchen windows and light fittings and maybe sitting area windows
  • brush dog
  • vacuum
  • tidy hallway
  • pack charity bag

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 30/11/2023 12:16

@Peridot1 - are you me? I too have one session a week with my PT and do not manage to get there any other day. I need to block the time out but something always crops up.

Woke up this morning to a dusting of snow, heaven help school as dc2 went off super excited. I've been nipping in and out of their room today whilst spreadsheets are whirring, I've collected up an impressive stash of pine cones and conkers to go garden-wards. And so much paper! A bag full needs to land in the recycling before they get home.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and well.

petalpower · 30/11/2023 21:20

Nothing done at home today as my dad has been taken ill and is in hospital so I’ve had to travel to help my stepmother. They are two and a half hours away so I’m staying here for the foreseeable. Petaldog has come with me as DD is working long hours and DH is supposed to be away this weekend and is also needing to be around for builders and other tradesmen. I’ve brought my Christmas cards just in case there’s any time to write them. Hopefully by the time I get home a lot more of the building project will have been completed 🤞

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/12/2023 04:27

Oh, Petal, I'm sorry. Sending you support and hoping things will be ok. 🩷

Aria999 · 01/12/2023 04:45

Sorry to hear that about your dad @petalpower 💐

Thunderinglightly · 01/12/2023 06:29

Popping in to send my best wishes @petalpower I hope things settle down soon xx

I'm off to work....I have accidentally become self employed for a brief stint, so will catch up later.

Have a great day everyone (it's very cold again - even the cat came straight back in this morning)

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 01/12/2023 07:18

Sending my best to you @petalpower

Peridot1 · 01/12/2023 08:35

Hope your Dad is ok @petalpower. You have reminded me I haven’t even thought about Xmas cards this year.

@RunningKatie - I suppose one session a week is better than nothing! Our gym is actually shut now for refurbishment for two weeks too so I have even more excuses not to do anything.

@Thunderinglightly - retirement didn’t last that long!

Yesterday I started the long put off job of cleaning the insides of the windows. Did kitchen, sitting area, dining area and hall. Had forgotten just how easy the Karcher window vacuum makes it. The windows are noticeably cleaner! Haven’t been cleaned properly since we moved in. Three years ago.

DS is back home today for Christmas so DH will pick him up from Heathrow. I’m going to the supermarket this morning.

Today’s other tasks:

  • towels in DS’s room
  • finish windows downstairs
  • clear pile on chair (it will get done today @Aria999!)

Have a great day all.

SpiritOfEdna · 01/12/2023 09:29

Hope your dad has a smooth recovery @petalpower

My day is rammed full of b2b meetings but hoping to get done today:

  • remove the froggy tape from kitchen floor
  • get a shopping list together for a quick supermarket sweep tonight
  • get together all the books that can go to be recycled
  • need to wash hair post gym session as it is being chopped tomorrow
  • the instructions have arrived for how to send my coat off for repair so need to get that all bundled up.
  • my work desk is full of art stuff/ shoe cleaning/post/new batteries so need to clear that off - it is stopping me from concetrating in meetings 😄
It's freezing here so off to put a jumper on before the madness starts. Have a good day all, SoE
