As suggested by the lovely Pointythings and her feisty cat army

BREAKING: Rishi Sunak faces ANOTHER by-election as suspended Tory MP Scott Benton is set to receive a 10-day suspension from the Commons

He was secretly filmed saying he could lobby ministers for gambling investors and leak confidential information to them

We have to assume I suppose that the recall petition will reach the required number of signatures from the good people of Blackpool South.

Cornettoninja · 02/10/2023 14:18

We are now in a brand new world where policies that were never going to happen are being “ cancelled “ or where we are being saved from “ sinister” practices that don’t actually exist. That’s called conspiracy … #CPC2023

and the fans lap it up. Just so long as they can retain their righteous victimhood.

You’d think the state of the country would give them reason to reconsider their positions… but nooooo, that’s because of the fictitious left wokerati (who, if they existed, haven’t been anywhere near power for the last decade).

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2023 14:32

Freezing civil service expansion whilst increasing processes and checks for benefits claimants, increase in Brexit related border checks over next 18 months and whilst we have the largest ever backlog of asylum applications.
Does that make an awful lot of sense?

BIossomtoes · 02/10/2023 14:32

I think they look unutterably sad. Clinging on in desperation despite all the evidence is quite tragic. They’ll be here the Friday after the election saying they were robbed - unless they do a Trump.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 02/10/2023 14:35

I'm still not convinced there'll be an election. I think we're so far down the rabbit hole that they'll come up with a cunning plan to not have one.

<Heads off to buy more tinfoil>

Its ridiculous
They claim they are going to do it by getting rid of DE&I - usually run by HR.

What could possibly go wrong? 🤔

What excuses could they come up with?

We know it'll be a lie.

Jacob Rees Mogg: "I want cheaper food. I want hormone injected beef from Australia. I've eaten beef in Australia, it's delicious. There's nothing wrong with it."

I thought he suggested there would be no lowering of standards after Brexit?
Wonder what the farming communities make of this.

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2023 16:07

Unbelievable from @JacobReesMogg - an absolute desire to annihilate British Ag - totally & utterly morally bankrupt. One thing’s for certain the Aussies would have deported him if he were representing them.

Minette Batters (President of NFU) less than impressed.

dontcallmelen · 02/10/2023 16:19

Every bloody day it gets more farcical are these people actually human beings or some invaders from planet gormless.
another one who is not convinced a general election will ever be called.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 02/10/2023 17:10

Elections were suspended during WW2. Perhaps this is why Shapps was flapping his gums, provoking war with Russia.

(I need more tinfoil)

Truss and her master Farage had a packed room

Just seen this on BBC news. Good grief. Has the woman got no self awareness at all?

NEW: Andy Street, the Tory mayor of the West Midlands, holds an impromptu press conference at Tory conference warning the PM he will be wasting a “once in a generation opportunity to level up” if he scraps the Birmingham to Manchester leg of HS2.

It’s all going very well …

Meanwhile environment secretary Therese Coffey has been criticising those who claim we should not eat meat because British welfare standards are higher than anywhere else.

Make up your minds people.

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2023 19:48

Hunt cancelled interview with Ch 4 earlier.

Now...

"We are also - surprisingly - now being told Rishi Sunak doesn’t have time to appear on #C4News tomorrow. He will have time to do GB News and Times Radio (not public service broadcasters) and multiple interviews on the BBC."

Pretty embarrassing that the supposedly leading politicians in the country can't cope with anything other than soft soap chats with friendly channels.
They don't deserve to lead.

Claire Coutinho’s turn now. Imaginary meat taxes are back. Learning from Rishi’s plough straight on and repeat endlessly if you are pulled up in an interview technique.

This conference is less car crash and more multi vehicle pile up.

Jux · 02/10/2023 19:53

@RafaistheKingofClay as soon as I heard the London end was going ahead I said he'd cancelled the wrong half. Trust the Tories to be unable even to cancel things right 🤣

Sunak's a limp dishrag, as inspiring and believable as one too. No flair, no vision, no imagination. But who in politics these days does?

DuncinToffee · 02/10/2023 19:54

How many different Tory parties are there now and who is what? Confused

Rees Mogg is alright, he represents an urban constituency after all, with hardly anyone who earns their living from the land.

I think we already know the answer to that.

Lonelycrab · 02/10/2023 20:03

How many different Tory parties are there now and who is what?

We’ve had the Nigel Farage Tory, except he’s not a Tory.. scuse me, followed by truss bot who’s going to grow things, like she so expertly does.

But they’re both entirely united behind Rish! and his dynamic vision for the future. As are the whole country!

itsgettingweird · 02/10/2023 20:04

They don't deserve to lead

This in spades. Mainly because abuse they aren't leading. They are just pulling themselves along clinging to a piece of rope whilst the country gets worse.

DuncinToffee · 02/10/2023 19:54

They all come under the umbrella of Conservatives United (for) National Trusteeship Service *

*may or may not be peoples of good standing.

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/10/2023 20:07

If the final act of Brexit involves Nigel Farage being the leader of a Tory party with a tiny number of MPs I may die laughing. It would be the perfect ending.

Cornettoninja · 02/10/2023 20:13

@RafaistheKingofClay I really want to join in with the laughter but honestly the last few years have given me the willies about what can be achieved by these people who are clearly certifiable.

I genuinely think switching on the Large Hadron Collider fucked something up in the fabric of time and space.
