Our oven needs a new thermostat which I'm hoping to get sorted this morning (have bought replacement) so am looking forward to a full roast as we've not had one for ages now.
I've not been shopping yet so haven't yet decided what to go for.

What's on your menu today?

Shop bought vegan pies, sweet potato mash, vege and gravy here.

I’m also currently making cheese scones but i only had (out of date) plain flour and I forgot to put baking powder in, so they might prove inedible.

afaloren · 08/10/2023 16:07

We went for a walk on the beach and fish and chips

Labbingtons · 08/10/2023 16:32

Venison haunch, Cumberland sauce, with mash, tender stem broccoli, cavolo nero and roast carrots.
Using up the last of the blackberries and spare apples for crumble for pudding, with proper custard.

I wasn’t planning on 23 degrees and sunshine when I made that plan. But it’s our first venison roast of the season and I’m determined to see it through!

We've been busy working in the garden so lunch was a variety of (homemade) leftovers - one dc had cajun dirty rice, one had garlic prawn pasta and one had Thai style chicken soup, and dh and I had sandwiches. For dinner we have slow cooker 'enchiladas' with the tortillas cooked in with the sauce, which I set up this morning 😋

Roselilly36 · 08/10/2023 16:58

DH had cooked roast chicken, pigs in blankets, mashed swede, savoy cabbage, sprouts, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, carrots, chicken gravy. Then strawberry cheesecake with Turkish delight ice cream.

Butteredtoast55 · 08/10/2023 17:03

We are on what my DH calls 'exciting sandwiches' which is just warm ciabatta bread with either pesto, mozzarella and tomato, or Emmenthal and smoked ham.
We've been gardening all day so tempted to top these off with a Starchaser magnum.

RegimentalSturgeon · 08/10/2023 17:09

Please can you tell me more about Turkish delight ice cream, @Roselilly36? I think I have a new ambition!
Roast pork with crackling, roast apple, buttered carrots, new potatoes, and gravy here later.

lollipoprainbow · 08/10/2023 17:21

Macaroni cheese as per other thread !

Lovelydovey · 08/10/2023 17:29

Teriyaki meatballs with brown rice and broccoli. Followed by brownies and cream.

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/10/2023 17:33

Keema curry with basmati rice and raita and some Afghan salad. We have a roast dinner about once a month.

tobee · 08/10/2023 17:45

Lazy arse roast chicken - chicken in a bag, pre prepared/ready meal type vegetables and frozen roast potatoes. Ready made treacle tart with ready made custard. Rose wine and ready made French 75.

We were going to eat out at the pub and in the end this still cheaper. I just cba to prep and clear up all the pans, boards, knives etc. But I am making my own gravy.

mbosnz · 08/10/2023 17:46

We had homemade beef burgers on the bbq for lunch. Tea tonight is homemade southern fried chicken, with home made fries, coleslaw and corn.

housedramas · 08/10/2023 17:50

Lemon roast chicken (for the kids, I'm veggie), roasties, cauli cheese, peas (also for the kids 😆), baby corn, carrots, broccoli, stuffing balls and yorkshires 🤤

Roselilly36 · 08/10/2023 18:30

Waitrose 😂 it’s absolutely awesome, would recommend.

Outonaschoolnight · 08/10/2023 18:36

I got some lamb shoulder from Morrisons yesterday, had it in the slow cooker all day and then made boulangere potatoes with caramelised onions using the stock. Then garlic spring greens and honey mustard carrots. Can barely move.

Millybob · 08/10/2023 18:42

Roast gammon, roast potatoes, broccoli - not sure about other veg until I have a rummage in the fridge, I think there's courgettes and spinach but spinach doesn't really go - might nip to the shop for a cauliflower for cauliflower cheese.
And then I'll have to make banana bread because a bowlful of soggy bananas is reproaching me.
