Our oven needs a new thermostat which I'm hoping to get sorted this morning (have bought replacement) so am looking forward to a full roast as we've not had one for ages now.
I've not been shopping yet so haven't yet decided what to go for.

What's on your menu today?

I'll bring the wine @BellaAndDaveGrin (although I'll give the mussels a swerve)

LuluBlakey1 · 17/09/2023 17:04

Home made macaroni cheese, roasted broccoli, salad with tomatoes from the garden followed by apple crumble (our apples) and custard.

UsernameTaken76 · 17/09/2023 17:04

Pork chops with homegrown runner bean stew from the new Jamie Oliver book. Plus kale finished in garlic butter. Tiramisu pots I found on offer in sainsburys for pud.

We had a delicious ham! With all the usual trimmings (yorkies, cauliflower cheese, veg, etc). No pudding as we’re trying to loose some weight. The leftover ham will go in sandwiches tomorrow.

DelilahBucket · 17/09/2023 17:33

We're going out for a curry shortly. We're both too hungover and tired to cook after a late night partying which we are far to old to do these days 😂

Boujibroke · 17/09/2023 18:04

Tonight we are having

Gammon with pineapple for me/egg dh
Cauliflower, broccoli and leeks with cheese sauce.
Baby roast potatoes
Mash potatoes
Yorkshire puddings
Roast carrots
Gravy

Dh and dd away to the shop to get dessert and wine.

I was just going to fling a pizza in the oven tonight, but this thread made me want a proper dinner Grin

Road in the hole with roasties and veg

Lovelydovey · 17/09/2023 18:23

Roast chicken with roast potatos, caramelised onion gravy, mashed swede and carrot and all the veg I could find steamed (tender stem, cauliflower, mange tout, cabbage, leeks and asparagus). And home made chocolate ice cream for pudding.

Indian takeaway here! I did a race this morning so bloody starving now!

WmFnKdSg1234 · 17/09/2023 18:45

Grilled salmon, with mushrooms, red peppers and spring onions. Woth a very cold glass of white wine. 😋

Catsfrontbum · 18/09/2023 13:16

Lemon Chicken orzo was a smash! Can highly recommend!

Good morning all
Just wanted to say thank you to the person who originally linked this recipe
https://www.recipetineats.com/oven-baked-chicken-and-rice/

We had it 2 weeks ago and it has been requested again today to add to the weekly menu plan as an easy throw together recipe after a busy day.

Today we are utilising the now fixed oven for another roast as we have family coming over later.

Thanks for sharing so many great recipes and I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday with great food to look forward to!

Oven Baked Chicken and Rice

A one pan, baked Chicken and Rice recipe, made entirely in the oven! The rice is outrageously delicious from one little trick that makes all the difference.

You're very welcome Jings!
I can't find to tag and thank the original poster but I can vouch for it's deliciousness.
I even cheated by using this, as I had it in my cupboard...

Posh mac and cheese and salad.

Which will be lovely, but to be honest I'm quite looking forward to getting back to roasts and stews and things.

But it's 25C here today! Madness!

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 08/10/2023 11:20

Pulled Beef (oven has broke, hello slow cooker)
Roast potatoes

Carrot

GettingStuffed · 08/10/2023 11:24

Afelia,a Greek pork stew ( little very thick sauce) with coriander. Roast potatoes, green beans and corn on the cob.

Deadringer · 08/10/2023 11:27

I cook all week so we always have something easy at the weekend, tonight we are having shop bought Pies with mash and veg.

WhateverMate · 08/10/2023 11:39

I also cook all week so DH is the maker of the weekly Sunday roast, and all the washing up and wiping down etc.

Today it's roast lamb which is my absolute favourite!

Decafflatteplease · 08/10/2023 11:49

We always try to have a bit of a nicer meal on a Sunday to start the week off well!

Today it's toad in the hole, with cauliflower cheese. Macaroni cheese for veggie DC. I'll probably do a banana bread in the slow cooker for DC snacks in the week.

BerriesNutsConkers · 08/10/2023 11:56

Homemade pizza later. I've made the dough, prepared the toppings and tomato sauce and everyone can create their own later once I have rolled out each base!
Easy meal today as we all have colds.

Deathraystare · 08/10/2023 12:01

Going to book club so will be a mixture. I think someone making Salonki or something. I will bring fruit pie, ice cream and picky things like houmous, bread, bread sticks, cheese. There will be salad.

Whattheduck · 08/10/2023 12:03

Just myself at home today Dh is working away and Dd is away for the weekend
I feel a bit under the weather today so just having a cheese and onion pasty with homemade chips and peas

AuntieMarys · 08/10/2023 12:05

Homemade soup for dinner tonight...dh working till 6. I never make a Sunday lunch

ShyCity · 08/10/2023 12:15

I’m making lasagne again (two big ones, so we can have it tomorrow, too).

Not in the mood for a roast. It’s still summery weather in London.
