Our oven needs a new thermostat which I'm hoping to get sorted this morning (have bought replacement) so am looking forward to a full roast as we've not had one for ages now.
I've not been shopping yet so haven't yet decided what to go for.

What's on your menu today?

Roast chicken, Yorkshire puddings (we have hens so loads of eggs to use up), green beans, sweet corn, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, roasted beetroot.
MIL came round with veg from her allotment so putting some of that to good use today.
For pudding dh and ds are making chocolate mousse (again with the eggs!).

Taytocrisps · 17/09/2023 09:06

Stew. It's cold and rainy and feels like stew weather.

Pulled pork shoulder (Emma Freud’s recipe) with brioche buns, homemade coleslaw, homemade garlic and rosemary potato wedges, tenderstem.
Maybe plum and almond cake afterwards, if I have time.
Enjoy your roast!

That's a great recipe - we had that last Sunday. Today it's Thai green curry (home made paste) with squid, rice, and shop bought gyoza. No pudding as I'm on a diet, so everyone else can have a Cornetto.

We had a roast chicken last night (a version of an Ottolenghi recipe with sumac and za'atar which we had with roasted squash from my SIL's allotment and salad/bread/garlic yoghurt). There's plenty leftover so I'll do something with it tonight. Probably a risotto.

mamaduckbone · 17/09/2023 09:17

Roast pork with crackling, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, tender stem broccoli and stuffing.
First roast of the season and I can't wait - we don't tend to bother in the summer.

VillageLite · 17/09/2023 09:18

We are being very traditional today: roast chicken, roast potatoes, sage and onion stuffing, cauliflower, carrots and green beans, bread sauce.

Crumble and cream/ice cream for pudding.

Allthescreens · 17/09/2023 09:19

My parents gave me some of the last runner beans from their garden & I seem to have somehow bought too many potatoes, so we are having a nice simple dinner of pork chops, mash, runner beans & peas.

longwayoff · 17/09/2023 09:20

Bacon sandwich. Crispy bacon in focaccia. Havent had one in months.

Allthescreens · 17/09/2023 09:21

Also, DS2 came home from his allotment club yesterday with a big bag of cooking apples, so I'm going to take the DSes conker hunting & to see if there are any last blackberries, then I will make crumble for pudding.

afaloren · 17/09/2023 09:22

Going to a friend for lunch but they’ve said they’re making slow cooked ribs 😋

Maraudingmarauders · 17/09/2023 09:23

Nothing yet as 41 weeks today and waiting on a potential call from the Labour ward for induction. Going to have to work something out as the day goes on though.

Ragwort · 17/09/2023 09:23

I have been doing a freezer audit, so much random stuff that needs using up. Have found some marinated chicken thighs, pork belly and interesting looking sausages. I also discovered a very nice sounding potato salad recipe, using sour cream, bacon, blue cheese and spring onions that I will make ... I doubt anyone else in the family will like it but I am beyond caring .. so fed up of continuously 'compromising' on meals & recipes.
I am also thinking of making a sort of eton mess with raspberries and lemon curd ... something else that needs finishing!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 17/09/2023 09:25

Chicken and root veg casserole in cider and whole grain mustard with dumplings, mashed potatoes and honey and fennel seed carrots and parsnips. Followed by a nice nap and read of the last Strike book before the next instalment comes out!

Ostryga · 17/09/2023 09:25

@Ragwort that potato salad sounds amazing! Do you have a link to the recipe?

onwardandupwards · 17/09/2023 09:27

Bacon and cheese pasta bake with garlic bread and salad, syrup sponge and custard for pudding

minipie · 17/09/2023 09:27

Don’t know yet. Was going to be roast chicken for dinner but DH just announced he has a work call then (it’s that kind of job). Not sure I fancy roast for lunch so back to the drawing board for today’s meals!

Hedjwitch · 17/09/2023 09:28

Blimey,so impressed with all these fab menus. I have got to the point where I simply cannot be arsed cooking any more. I'm done feeding people. DH and DS are away to the footie so i will eat whatever I can find in the cupboard. Probs pasta.

mommatoone · 17/09/2023 09:29

Chicken , leek & bacon hotpot for us with a topping of potatoes and cheese. Cannot wait. Cant beat a good roast though!

Catsfrontbum · 17/09/2023 09:36

Nigellas lemon orzo with roast chicken. DD is cooking for us all with grandparents. Very exciting xx

Imsureitsprobablymebut · 17/09/2023 09:57

Slow cooker Thai green chicken curry. It can cook all afternoon while we’re out at a dressage competition.
Haven’t thought of a pudding tho.

MrHopsPortal · 17/09/2023 10:01

Fairly simple cottage pie and then homemade custard tart for pudding (I've just made the pastry).

caringcarer · 17/09/2023 10:02

Roast chicken cooked in an air fryer. Stuffing, roast potatoes, roasted onions, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, peas, runner beans from the garden and gravy. I won't be serving it until 6pm though.

IhearyouClemFandango · 17/09/2023 10:04

Today will be rib eye roast.

Over the summer it tends to be a BBQ

SherbetLemonn · 17/09/2023 10:04

Chicken breast cooked in a cream cheese, spinach and bacon sauce, roasties (not for me tho, I’m low carb 😭), sugar snaps, baby corn, carrot and broccoli. I’ve also made a biscoff cheesecake… I shouldn’t have any… but might, probably, definitely sneak a wee sample.

Lilibert456 · 17/09/2023 10:05

Pasta salad with red pepper, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, spring onion, black olives, mozzarella, cucumber, peas and a garlic and herb dressing. Made yesterday. Always nicer the next day.
